Egg Chasers - Jones Sacked

I'm no great follower of RU, enjoy watching it but don't make plans round it like II would for other things.

So I'm not best placed, but am I right in thinking that when Jones was appointed England went through a big squad change and we had a very successful first couple of years? Seems to have tailed off in recent times, so maybe it does need someone to move it forward again. of course, I have no idea who.

But at least doing it now, the incoming will have the full 6 Nations and pre WC programme to work with them?
 
He had his time and successes, but clearly something wasn’t right recently, so time for change. Steve Borthwick is leading contender apparently
 
Not a lot of knowledge about it but I did notice gatland was rehired as Welsh coach
Did he have a chance of the English job and Wales moved first or am I just clueless?
 
Jones always came across as a miserable sod, who didn't appear to enjoy his job. A good opportunity now for a new (English) manager to rebuild and refocus.

As an armchair rugby fan I quite liked Jones but it seems like he’d lost the proper fans.
 
Jones could never adjust his game plan during a match when it didn't work. He just kept repeatedly doing the same thing.

(sounds a bit close to home....)
 
Don’t know if they have announced his successor yet but what a coup if they could get Andy Farrell
Although he will fancy Ireland’s chances in the World Cup next year. Saying that I can see Owen Farrell being groomed for the job and from the respect he gets from team mates and media alike he probably has the makings of a good manager.
I don’t understand the term egg chasers as to me it seems derogatory.
Football could learn a hell of a lot from their counterparts in rugby.
Respect , professionalism and just getting on with it against all adversity.
 
A cocky Aussie who in his latter days in the job went out of his way to upset the Poms it seems. Like ringing the players in the middle of the night to have a chat about tactics in an upcoming game 😅

Good riddance to him I say.
 
He had an unbelievable start winning his first 17 games as coach but in the last few years the team hasn't really progressed and winning just one of the four autumn internationals was probably the final straw.

I think we need a change of coach, most pundits have been banging on about it for long enough and I think the RFU thought if we're going to have any chance to win the rugby world cup next year we need a change now.

First thing the new coach needs to do is sort the pack out, we were destroyed at the set pieces by South Africa and if you can't hold your end up in the scrums you won't win many rugby games.

Jones has been beyond loyal to a number of players most notably Farrell, and his performances have not warranted that loyalty along with the Vunipola brothers, none of them should be in the team right now for me.
 
It would be great if eventually they could get Shaun Edwards to assist Borthwick, but Borthwick will probably take Kevin Sinfield with him.

You don’t hear many rugger players scream and roll over 10 times when they get a tap on the neck or ankle!
2 minutes later up and about complaining to the ref to get the opposing player booked- laughable really!
 
After the poor performance against the South Africans, the powers that be, broke the eggs, scrambled a meeting and fried Jones.
 
I'm not really sure a coach makes that much difference once the game has started, unlike football. Put another way Eng RFU internationals think they're the billy big bollux and entitled to a result.

I'm not suggesting Southgate should have been sacked but if losing a world cup final is reason to sack Jones surely the rational should be applied across all sports?
