Eki

I think big Marv will benefit the most from the return of Critch. He knew how to get the best out of him and I think we'll see a return of Eki at his best.
yep, for me our best two players are Marv and Jerry. Agree that Critch should get Marv back to his best but it's another issue with regards to Jerry IF he stays. He might be looking for some re-assurances from Critch with regards to his role.

I think all the defensive oriented players will benefit from Critch's return after last season. Grimmy, Thommo, Hubby, Kenny, Callum. And imagine Lyons, post dinosaur, in League One.

Virtue, was highly rated by Critch, so much so his contract was, extended when he was injured, and will probably be delighted
Carey and Lavery both signed by Critch and both will be played more regularly in their best position.
Beesley not sure
Casey and Tharme will definitely be looked at again to see how they developed.
I think Critch screwed us up last season as our squad was top heavy with little room for manoeuvre. This season he needs to decide early who he wants as a lot are in their option year, so we could lose more than half our players at the end of the season, and if it is not sorted it could cost us promotion as players will not want to risk injury as their contracts run down.

Just a return from him, would be nice.

I’m still gutted Thorniley is leaving though. He’s better than Marv, IMO & I think if we had both them at the back it’d be a force to be reckoned with.

All our players under performed last season and I expect Marv to get back to normal under Critch next season if he can avoid the injury problems that blighted his season.

One of the reasons for Marv's good form was that Critchley played two holding midfielders. He was very well protected from midfield, whereas last season there were gaping holes all over and the defence barely got any protection at all. Thorniley did superbly under very difficult circumstances, it's really disappointing (but not surprising) that he's gone.
For what it's worth, I think Marv is better at defending but Thorniley's distribution was much better.

Jerry is my favourite player of last few years.
The more I think thought, the more he has the Stuart Broads about him. He’s quite a streaky player. He has a run of games where he is on fire and then a run where he’s nowhere near scoring (despite the effort).

Maybe Critch recognised that and could spot the signs. So he was dropped to the bench for the benefit of the team overall and then brought back in when the streak was about to begin?

There weren’t many in the squad that he didn’t get the best from.

Confidence player. Brittle confidence.

Epo will benefit from having a LCB who knows his job and is organised, a RB who knows his job and stays in his position rather than wandering and a DCM who know his job and looks for the ball. Without those he's not the same player irrespective if he has Perp as asst. to Alf Ramsay.

Critch will get things organised at the back again. Even without signing anybody he'd manage it with the players still at the club.

He was very good In the Championship prior to Appleton's arrival.
He was great with Keogh next to him, guiding him, but the reason he had 2 red cards and possibly why he did his hamstring is because he was caught out of position and he made desperate tackles trying to redeem himself.
Don't misunderstand me, I think he's a good player but he needs and experienced ayer next to him at the moment.

Red cards were down to no proper RB as well.

In a mess of a side under MA.

Nor a wise DM to screen and cover when the full backs raided forward.

We need Lyons to be pushing on and getting those bonus goals that he can add to the team, and that then means we need Trybull covering his raids.

Just as Kev Stewart did for JG in that promotion season

Get Lyons doing the TAA/ Rico Lewis midfield switch!
