Elkan Baggott

Poised to join us on loan from Ippy. Plays for the Indonesian national team!
Been trying not to moan & no offence to this lad as know nothing about him; but this transfer window / rebuild has been so underwhelming compared to previous seasons. Feel we need more ambition and backing.

Presume he will come in as cover at CB and Tharme will go out on Loan. I don't hate it but not necessarily what is needed.

Yet when Pennington and Norburn signed the fans were happy. Did we sign them too early? If they came in now would it be OK?

Happy with them 2; but that’s also part of the issue, why haven’t we acted earlier / more decisively?. Leaving it til deadline day & still a striker, 2 wingers and a left back short 🤷🏽‍♂️ been obvious for weeks and weeks

I get what both of you are saying , I be happy now if Pennington and norburn signed , think what we all want is couple quality cash signings to show the ambition if they want us to go up , it always seems to be loan of young players , remember we anit signing some of these young loan players , so why can’t the loan players be experienced players , again , is it not wanting to pay the wages maybe

if he does come he will most likely be used as fill up stuff to cover injuries, suspensions so maybe not a bad move.

Because a central defender is not a priority and a 20 year old with little experience is another kick in the teeth to our own players like Lankshear. Why develop a kid on loan for another club? And what about the positions we really need to strengthen? Where is our actual focus?
Anybody who improves us is a priority!!

There seems to be this misconception that if we have enough players who are deemed to be good enough in a certain position that we don't need to or shouldn't sign better players if they become available 🤷 now, I don't know anything about this lad but clearly If we're in then the coaching staff think he can improve us in the short term and maybe there's a chance of a permanent if he does well??

Lankshear is a left Back not a CH and is also already Out on loan.........

Lankshear has played left of a three. And Dobbie deemed him good enough to come on in the Championship. And he's our player. I'm aware he's gone on loan.

And I think loans should be all about getting in players that are better than we have that we can't afford to buy really. And limited in number. It would be our fourth I think? We need a striker!

Lankshear has gone on loan to a non league team and is a million miles from the first team

You are banging the wrong drum

I’d say that’s the last position worth filling.
For centre backs we’ve Marv, Penn and Casey. Tharme too.
Add in Hubby and Connolly who can play there too.

Don’t need more of them.
The conversation probably went something like this:

Blackpool - we are interested in Ladapo.
Ipswich - that'll cost you £500K.
Blackpool - crikey, do you have anyone available?
Ipswich - yes, a 20yr old centre back who has never played a league game for us.
Blackpool - great, we'll have him.

Lankshear is a LB, he may well have played there but he's a full back.

As I said presumably the coaches think he is better 🤷

And yes we all know we need a striker but it isn't the sole focus ,

I think the club is banging the wrong drum. I don't think Lankshear is a million miles off. But chiefly I don't see why we are bringing in all these loans which are not the type of loans we need. In my opinion.
The fact that he did well in NLS before he joined us, and is now playing in full NL is a good sign.

On the loans, this one's only a rumour, so let's wait until it happens, for the 3 we have made, which ones are the wrong type of loans?

Have you even seen Lankshear play?

So underwhelming compared to previous seasons?

The same parsimony for many years.

Critchley back in July "we don't want to be a team reliant on loans".

That's Rhodes, Weir, Dembele and Baggott already, and you would expect maybe another 1 or 2.
Critchley back in July "we don't want to be a team reliant on loans"?

He signed a long contract, then left.

More suited as a politician than a coach.

Is he a Hobbit?
Indonesian international - GTFO here. Are we seriously a football club?
Well good luck to the lad I hope he is decent. Just seems surrealistic.

"...not wanting to pay the wages maybe?"

Definitely maybe? Just definitely.

Fans hated Appy's "little Blackpool" view.

It proved the only thing he got right.

Mates a ST holder at Ipswich.

He says he’s absolutely brilliant and just can’t understand why they are letting him move. 🫣

I think Apter is the one who is closest and has had the better loan spells

The issue with our development kids is the standard they are playing at
Let’s hope we see something of him. It looked like he has a decent amount of skill, in the few times I’ve seen him play. We need someone who can cause us to actually get excited. Not just keep running into walls, miss controlling, blazing over or just pretending to try & win a header. Apply those to quite a few of our players.

don't know how good he is because I'd never even heard of him but find it a bit unreal or hard to get my head around that we're taking on loan a player who has yet to play a first team game for a team we've just swapped divisions with.
