England Borefest

Thought it was better than what is usually served up by England, tbf.

Being a relatively pressure-free friendly, probably helped though.

Big thread about it so not just you. It was OK. Everyone Pep Guardiola wanted to keep fresh for Sunday gibbed out of playing as soon as they could in both games so that was always going to expose what is a patchy defence at the best of times.

You can't do any more when needing to change the morning after headlines than keep attacking to the end and score a last second equaliser in this situation.

Two defensive errors, Pickford, then Dunk, cost us a win. Thought England dominated, great movement off the ball Bowen, Mainoo (definitely going to be a major player) and Foden were outstanding. For a makeshift team that was a good watch. Bellingham equaliser with the last kick was no less than England deserved. Five or six nailed on starters unavailable for this match means we have strength in depth. Lots of players staked a claim for a place. Enjoyed it!

I had it on telly with the U21s game on youtube as well and both was OK. A better night than Scotland and Wales have had anyway.

Mainoo's been fasttracked with a view presumably to him having a choice of who to play for as well as looking the part at 18 already. But a few in the U21s look like they could turn out to be handy lads in a couple of years too. And have the winning experience now with their euros last summer. Just need a load of them to decide they want to be brick shithouse centre halves rather than all floaty 8 and 10 types.

Sorry lads but never knew it was even on and it was on telly in the Thatched in some distant corner and I strained to watch to watch it every few minutes and then questioned my sanity. Absolute Shitefest!!!

Can someone give me a rational explanation why Southgate didn't give Jarrod Branthwaite a single minute in these two friendlies?

Our biggest area of concern (central defence) and he plays donkeys like McGuire and Dunk and doesn't look at the best young defender in the PL.

No surprise to me when Dunk then gifts them their second goal.

Besides that we were miles better than Belgium and the draw was the least we deserved.

Not one of last nights defence after Stone's went off will start for England in the Euros given a fully fit squad. The attacking midfield options are outstanding add Kane into the mix and we have genuine chance of success.

I enjoyed what I saw of the game and it was a lot better then the sub standard football with no history served up WSL . I can't believe people watch this . Its as bad as celebrities going on free televised holidays paid for by us and they get paid for it.

Well I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought it was mesmerising the way we kept possession so well despite very close marking - reminiscent of Spain in their prime.
Exciting times to be an England fan.

I'm not a big fan of Neil Southgate but it was a good game last night.
Thank god we've got Maguire in reserve to replace Dunk. 😂
Thats currently a worrying position to fill.

Nearly every.major competition we have been bigging up the opposition playmaker breaking from midfield.
We are not there yet but I reckon our midfield is certainly one of the best in the world and will be for years.
Other areas need addressing for us to actually win a major competition

I thought Ben Chilwell played well, rarely gives the ball away & offers a threat. Agree with Raging about Braithwaite. Don't fancy anyone other than John Stones at CH.

I enjoyed it too. Wonderful to see really skillful England players - quick passing and incisive runs forward.

We could have an embarrassment of attacking potential if it's all used right. Foden, Bellingham, Mainoo, Bowen from last night alone. Add the first choice fullbacks getting forward and providing quality service and we are in great shape for the tournament.

It'll be interesting to see how Southgate manages it all.

Thought the game was excellent with two evenly matched sides.

Think those who found it boring just don't like the modern game with the high press and back passing, which comes from trying to create space from it.

Anyone who can't appreciate the players England are producing now compared to past years ought to watch some old games and re-acquaint themselves with actually how technically poor our players used to be. Yesterday, some of the quick incisive passing, perfect first touch and close control was joyful to see from England. We simply wouldn't have been able to play that way 20 years ago.

63% possession versus 37% for Belgium, 19 shots versus 7 and 6 corners v 1 for Belgium.

You didn't even have to watch the game to realise England were the better team.

I was disappointed Branthaite didn’t get some game time, but for a friendly which I don’t usually enjoy I thought it was a decent work out.

I thought they played well last night, much better than the Brazil game. Some of the forward play with mainoo, foden and Bellingham was a joy to watch; like city at their best. Chilwell was much better last night as well. For God's sake please do not bring Henderson back for mainoo in the finals!

I do wonder what people expect.
If we won every game 1-0, and won the whole competition, nobody would remember the performances, just the trophy.

Only watched the 2nd half but enjoyed what I saw. For a depleted team that was a good performance with only one team in it.
