Probably the downside of having a team that's based around physicality rather than being able to play.Yeah they didn't want Pens and it showed
On her showing today, it'll be no big loss.Kurt makes the right point. How many tournaments do you see where a team has at least one very lucky win? Loads. James will be stamping herself now though as I'd assume that's a 2 game ban. With that, combined with previous injuries and however potentially unfit Walsh is, it's tough to see how England can really win it. They've lost a lot of quality that no squad would be OK with.
VisualiseChloe Kelly when asked what's going through your mind taking the last pen:
"For me, it's that I'm gonna score. That's how I look at it, once I've won that mental battle, we're good."
That's the attitude that wins penalty shootouts. I knew she'd score, made of sterner stuff.
Williamson and Mead are 2 huge injuries for England.Listened on the radio whilst working and they were rather scathing of Englands performance both today and in 2 of the group games. With Brazil, USA & Canada already out they have a chance of going deep into the competition but sounds like they need to improve quickly.
Yeah they looked hardIn some ways that may have been the hardest team to get past that we come up against.
A bit of time to reflect before the quarter finals.
Come on Lionesses ️

AwwwwwwWell, that goes to show how much the girls can dig deep, and how much spirit they have.
The James incident should now be used as a positive, (and I totally agree she shouldn't be vilified in any way..... stupid error of judgement, move on), and held up to the squad as a 'look what can be done by not panicking' moment.
Just remember girls.... '

It's the only thing she can say. She's not going to slaughter her in public. She'll miss the semi and final (if they get there) so you don't need to slaughter her anyway as she's royally fucked herself.Just heard the England manager say she missed the sending off incident and hasnt seen the video of it since.
Obviously taking lessons from the Premier League referees bible
Could be more if they go all FIFA on her. At least the Nigerian didn't roll around in pretend agony. I stead she looked like she wanted to kill her.Kurt makes the right point. Absolutely, that's certainly the most physical side the Lionesses will come up against in this tournament. I think they will have learnt a lot from this game.In some ways that may have been the hardest team to get past that we come up against.

It depends, I'm guessing it will be a 2 game suspension, if so, she'd be available for the final as the ban would be for the quarter and semi games. It's the only thing she can say. Add Fran Kirby to that as well.Williamson and Mead are 2 huge injuries for England.
1 game ban, but FIFA can up it according to the BBC. Think they will up it to 3 as its violent conduct and not just a rash challenge. It depends, I'm guessing it will be a 2 game suspension, if so, she'd be available for the final as the ban would be for the quarter and semi games.
I personally think 3 would be very harsh, it's a definite red but 2 games would be about right. She hardly applied any pressure. Either way, that would be her done, if England make the final.without her, no way should she come back in.1 game ban, but FIFA can up it according to the BBC. Yeah. I realise it was last 16 not quarters. My mistakeIt depends, I'm guessing it will be a 2 game suspension, if so, she'd be available for the final as the ban would be for the quarter and semi games.
