Exeter City v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 12.08.23

I personally thought that Marv played well. Don’t understand the criticism that he can’t pass. If you sit as deep and play the ball across the back as much as we do, you’re always going to invite the high press and potentially lose possession.

Just watched hi lights and a draw seems fair but the shot on goal at the end(what a nice three points that would have been)was very weak without conviction one on one with the goalie🤷🏽‍♂️ I have to admire Exeter owned by fans and still able to compete without a millionaire backer

Rankine was quick and a decent player but what has that got to do with playing Lyons or CJ at left back.

It just looked awkward all match and I don’t know many teams who play a right footer at left back and a left footer at right back. They looked uncomfortable and their wingers had the better of it which resulted in limited options going forward.

I don't think you grasp the fact that when we play three across the back or we have a superfast winger against us we leave ourselves open to wide attacks. When Critchley puts our best player in a deep midfield wide role to cut out the threat of a pacey winger it's not by accident. He's not an idiot. He spends all week preparing for the next opposition. Left or right foot is totally irrelevant.
