Thats an average of 77 mph.On a perfect run (which will only happen if you set off in the middle of the night) you can do it in closer to 3.5 hours, it’s about 270 miles.

As a sandgrown'un now in Torbay, a Saturday in August is not recommended, and, you will definitely need to stop, probably more than once (adding 15-20 mins a time). On a perfect run (which will only happen if you set off in the middle of the night) you can do it in closer to 3.5 hours, it’s about 270 miles. If not then setting off on the Friday would be recommended I have made this journey many, many times and I would NOT set off on Saturday morning unless it’s the really early hours.
Just to confirm my quickest is from Torbay to Blackpool is about 4 hours. As such in theory Exeter is about 30 minutes short of Torquay therefore 3.5 hours, but as above says the only chance you have of doing anything like that is setting off in the early hours. The Bristol area can be a real pain, but many other potential traffic hot spots on route. Good luck to anyone travellingAs a sandgrown'un now in Torbay, a Saturday in August is not recommended, and, you will definitely need to stop, probably more than once (adding 15-20 mins a time).
Exeter to Torbay is about half an hour. On average, Torbay to 'home' is 6 hours. That means sometimes it's less, sometimes it's more.
There's NO pattern, and NO guarantees.
If you want to do it, as Devonshire says, set off somewhere between 3 and 4. Half 4 absolute latest.
And you will get stuck in traffic somewhere.
I've not done it in 3.5 hours.
Suggest first light say around 5am if going on Saturday. An early and non boozie night might be in order.Current plan is to set off at 06.30 Saturday....do-able?
You really need a very good reason to visit BridgwaterDrove down the M6/M5 last Friday morning and it took 6 hours to Bridgewater.
Saturday will be awful from North of Bristol onwards.
After chatting with the passengers we're going to risk it. Did Lyme Regis in 5 hours on a Friday October Half-Term last year so even with a bit of traffic we'll be there for kick off! Staying overnight, so long as we're there for 3pm that'll be fine. If we're at Frankley services by 9.30ish that bodes well.Suggest first light say around 5am if going on Saturday. An early and non boozie night might be in order.
Don’t forget that Leigh and other Rugby League fans will be off to Wembley down the M6 and that might clog things up as far as Birmingham or the Toll Road.
The last thing you want to happen when going that far is to miss out due to heavy traffic and increased stress levels.
Good luck….didn’t know about that effing festival which has blighted many a Pool fan in the past. After chatting with the passengers we're going to risk it. I was travelling to Glastonbury. You really need a very good reason to visit Bridgwater
Losing track of the days! I momentarily thought today was FridayThursday ??

I get the feeling the EFL with it’s Preston links does these fixtures just to ing annoy our fans.
Rather clever logistics... I would not have thought of that.I’ve done Bristol comfortably in 3 hrs at about 5:30am on a Saturday.
We’re ditching vehicle at Bristol then jumping train direct to Exeter St Davids. It’s just over an hour and less than £20 return.
Will be drinking in Exeter easily by 11am
Shouldn't that've been, B. Got piss-wet-through? Or, alternatively, if you were out imbibing and inadvertantly found yourself caught up in something of a downpour, I'd say your version is absolutely spot-on! Just wanted to clarify ...It wasn't any fun going down there for a midweek match.
Only thing I remember is
A. A bloody long way.
B. Got pissed wet through.
C. Kevin Stonehouse scored.
Yes, it was that long ago

£17.60 to be precise. And out of Bristol parkway so north Bristol too.Qualification to comment: I lived in Wellington for two and a half years.
No-one is exaggerating the M5 problem. (I’ll not list them.)
1. Best solution in my opinion is go Friday if you can.
2. I like the idea of jumping on the train at Bristol. £20 return is excellent.
3. For God’s sake, set off early or earlier if you’re going Saturday.
Good luck.
