I know (or should I say 'ken') that you Scots haven't got the best grasp of the English language and to be fair it seems that a few down here are struggling too. So I thought I'd do my best to try and help you out.

You seem to be struggling to understand what "Be Alert" actually means... Personally, I'd have thought it was fairly self-explanatory, but no... Since you raised the question, it seems that your own Nation, The Welsh and a sizeable proportion of England have followed you into some form of viral memory loss or maybe it might be better described as basic stupidity.

For the benefit of you and the rest of the hard of thinking, I have "Cut and Pasted" a dictionary definition, which I hope goes some way to clearing up your little dilemma...

ALERT

adjective

adjective: alert; comparative adjective: alerter; superlative adjective: alertest

quick to notice any unusual and potentially dangerous or difficult circumstances; vigilant.

noun

noun: alert

the state of being watchful for possible danger.

verb

verb: alert; 3rd person present: alerts; past tense: alerted; past participle: alerted; gerund or present participle: alerting

warn (someone) of a danger or problem.

So let's pop that into the context of the coronavirus and the process of how we, as a nation should be behaving in relation to the threat of the disease. Well, when you eventually allow the people of Scotland to leave their homes that is.

P.S. I'm assuming I don't need to provide a dictionary definition for the word "BE", but if you are struggling with it please let me know and I'd "BE" only to happy to oblige.

And ‘benefot’ ....that must be in Welsh?

saying that, people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones, as my typing dyslexic finger can be prone to the odd mishap.
Thank the lord for the edit option...thanks moderators.😁

There is so much politics going on....

They all hate Boris and will never agree, and he is playing them as well.

All as bad as each other.

Not a fan of Sturgeon, but the scots are handling the pandemic far better than the English.
Can you explain any reasoning behind that?

What have they/she done different until yesterday?

Imo she has simply followed Bojo and the country is behind England with their 'R' figure.

I don’t like her attitude and many of her policies. She seems to be using this CV crisis to flex her independence muscles by insisting that Scotland will not follow what the “English PM” directs. By using the excuse that Health is a devolved responsibility. Not helpful as we have to have a consistent and unified approach not a mishmash. Her position is subservient to that of the PM of the UK, but she seems not to be able to accept that limitation. Time she was properly informed; we still have the Riot Act to be read.

But she is right to call Bozo out on his waffling advice, which Raab immediately contradicted. Bozo is just not disciplined enough for the job. He has done as much damage as usual with his latest speculative wheezes. Not quite on a par with injecting bleach, but look at the pictures of the London Underground this morning, when we are still getting thousands of new CV cases every day.

I suppose they did lead the way in the 'Getting your chief Scientific Advisor to ignore their own advice" stakes. So credit to the wee ginger laddie for that 👍

Apart from that though, England are leading from the front on this IMO... I said to the Mrs last night, we seriously need to reign these individual nations in and put a stop to this whole devolved parliament crap. I mean how can you possibly lead a country if you can't grasp a straighforward message like "Be Alert" and understand that it is different from "Stay At Home"...

At least Sturgeon is acting like an adult. Boris didn't answer one question that Starmer put to him this afternoon, he gave his usal bumbling strapline answer much like he did for Brexit. It does seem that people are maybe starting to realise that he's the wrong man at the wrong time. Lets hope his latest Covid plan works or he will have blood on his hands.

Just give them independence and get rid for good! That Ian Blackford is an absolute negative whinging pain in the asre! Don't tell me that the 3 other Nations aren't playing the 'You stitched us up Brexit Card'!

She's acting like a petulant schoolkid TBF and seemingly hoardes of people have followed her fuckwittery and suddenly can't understand basic English either.

"Doh...Be Alert! ... what does that mean?" .... Come on FFS... How thick are you you utter clown of a woman?!!

Boris is an absolute genius compared to her.

Be alert
Boris is an absolute genius compared to her.

I really do give in, so Boris is right and evryone else is wrong? I really wonder sometimes at people on this board. I guess using a Football message board to talk anything other than beer and pies is really a waste of time.

He's right to start getting the Country on the route out of this lockdown yes and he's right to change the key message to reflect the changing circumstances.

You'd have thought the message was dumbed down enough for anyone to get it, but oh no....

[/QUOTE] Really ? Boris has been found wanting throughout the whole process . . . failing to attend key meetings and being behind everyone else (apart from his pal Trump) in decision making.
I'm no fan of Sturgeon's obsession with independence but she's been a lot stronger and consistent in her approach. She made the decision to close schools and a few days later Boris decided to follow suit . . . she made her decision to maintain the lock down last week whilst he was still floundering with what to do. She delivers all the daily updates whereas Boris leaves it to whoever is available and we've seen about 6 different MPs delivering the message which in itself has created ambiguity and confusion.

I know he's been out of action with illness and had a baby but he should have adequate support . . . which he clearly hasn't.

His latest decision should have been done in collaboration with not only Scotland but Wales and NI . . he has just gone 'off piste' in his usual cavalier manner.

I thought Bozo has made a very large strategic error with his overall performance with this issue. It was not debated in parliament prior to public release and he did not consult with anyone, as far as I'm aware, that he was changing his strapline message from the simple 'Stay at Home' message to the mysterious and opaque 'Stay Alert' message. Consequently, he failed to get people on his side particularly the home counties leaders who just binned Bozo's statement in front of the press and the chance to publically dismiss his entire message, quite embrassing really. Instead, it just led to most of the country looking at one another for clarity and comprehension and an easy digestable version of his message. He invited criticism and public humilation from quite a few corners and gave his rivals ammo and a good leader should never let that happen. Now we have all had a whole night to consume his message we can all now decode it and understand it more in the cold light of day and it needed a further embarassing follow up explanation (giving KS a chance to make him look inadequate) in parliament today and that was entirely avoidable if a clear and precise explanation was delivered last night. Poor and Trump like from Bozo!!! He's raised questions about his abilities over this and comes out of it not covered in any glory but doubt if he is actually got the required capabilities for the job of getting us out of this. I seriously doubt it which worries the hell out of me.

Think you’ll find re schools and lockdown... the devolved leaders were informed and consulted re both decisions... the queen of Scots went early on both occasions to grab political points and it appears to have worked with you... Maybe she also wants the limelight or doesn’t trust anyone else.

If Boris really was interested in working with the devolved administrations he would have let them have sight of his new message before he tweeted it, and would have given them an outline of what he planned to say last night, when they all had a video conference yesterday afternoon. As usual, the innocent are being blamed by the political guilty. All the Devolved administrations have responsibility for health, so it actually is pretty important

Most of the information and actions that Sturgeon has taken have come out of the SAGE / Cobra meetings to which she has access to. She deliberately arranged her media briefings earlier than the number 10 briefings to gain some one-upmanship and appear in control. The Scots position is actually not materially different to the rest of the UK. For someone whose only real policy is independence the true irony is if Scotland had been independent it would be in the shit now. For example, they would not have anything like the economic strength to put into place a support package that Sunak has.
On the alert issue, if the Scots really knew what it meant they would have been alert to the danger of Sturgeon and her appalling track record on public service in Scotland over the last few years

Cats, is this someone you respect the opinion of?

On 2 January 2018, Sinclair was convicted of drink driving and racially abusing a police officer by calling him a 'white c@nt'. He was sentenced to 150 hours of unpaid work, disqualified from driving for 20 months and ordered to pay £500 compensation to the abused police officer.

Not his first offence either!

Good to see the cross party togetherness for the worst situation the countries been in since WW2 as was agreed by all. KS straight back to his own cloak and dagger deceit for political points. It looks like both parties are fully back at each other’s throats Ala Brexit. I find this so depressing.

So he should not point out when Johnson is caught lying to the Houses of parliament.
That is an unbelievable attitude.
