FAO the Blackpool board of directors

Got to agree with that.

The team travelling as one is essential.

I even think for home games the players should all meet up prior at a hotel and have a pre-match meal together with the correct dietary ingredients, and then turn up at the ground in a “team coach”.

I believe it enhances “team spirit” and it’s a “team game” after all.

What happened on Saturday stinks of “anything goes”🙄🙄
Yep bang on Ash

Do you know for certain what happened here Phil?

People seem to be saying that the majority of Players were overnight at the Marriot Hotel (together) ? If so that's not 'All arriving in dibs and drabs' . Also do we know that Josh wasn't also at the Marriot? The fact he got the coach back to the Club, doesn't mean he wasn't at the Marriot does it?

I'm just saying, it feels to me (unless we have a very solid confirmed story) that this might be a bit of 2+2 = 5?

Oh and we have a Hotel and catering facilities at Bloomfield Road, why on earth would you get the players to meet at a Hotel and then travel to their home ground on a coach? That's just daft!

I dont actually know why they had to meet up in a hotel day before unless they dont live locally ?

Meet up in the hotel 9.30 am day of the game and get the team coach together.

I for one prefer to stay at home unless absolutely necessary but I am a boring twunt to be fair.

I can understand they might want the squad altogether and not travelling, especially with it being an early kick off.

I don’t see any point in meeting at Bloomfield Road, to then travel back to Preston. It’s an extra unnecessary hour or more travelling or sat on a coach…

Likewise after the game… I don’t see why players shouldn’t just get off on their way home with it being local.

Can I also ask why the manager doesn't insist on the whole squad travelling together for one of the biggest games of the season

Bowler on the coach and Patino in a cafe in South Shore whilst the rest turn-up in drips and draps is completely unacceptable and unprofessional

McCarthy should be sacked for that alone

Just on this one alone Phil - not considering Saturdays performance/result - I think many will agree with you and as many will disagree.

There are managers who insist on players turning up for games suited and booted or what some would call professionally dressed.

I have no problem with that myself as I thinks it helps install discipline but plenty folk will say it's outdated and that athletes should be relaxed before performing and allowing them to dress however they are most comfortable will help the relaxation process.

I'm thinking that you'd have a stronger case if you mentioned this after every game, unless you think that the manner in which the players arrived on Saturday had a big bearing on that particular game.

You're probably not the President of the Mick McCarthy Appreciation Society but to sack him for that alone is stretching things a little, don't you think ?

Just seen on Preston’s forum someone has posted a short video recording of a voice note, they claim it is Raggy and he says he has a meeting with the entire squad and management team tomorrow at 4pm. Is this true does anyone know?

If true that the team did indeed make their own way to the game, this is very unprofessional for football league players never mind championship.
The highest I played was Northern Premier league and they were strict on how you traveled then and that was over 40 years ago!

No!! I disagree Daz.

Meeting at the Blackpool FC Hotel (where Oyston Offices are) would be like “sleeping in your office and never going home and having family-time”

It’s why companies put employees on “Out Bound Team Building” courses.

Part of meeting at a quiet third party location meeting travelling “together” to the stadium are part of “mental conditioning” putting players into the right mindset for the respective task at the stadium.

You may think it’s daft but I certainly “beg to differ”🚌🧡

I believe it's it's part of a longer recording that many have heard

Up to Raggy as to whether he shares that on here

I doubt there’s a football club anywhere in the country that would waste the money, cost the environment and generally cause the inconvenience that would involve essentially turning a home fixture into an away one.

It’s ridiculous mate and it takes things a step too far.

I’m all for the idea of everyone getting together for a pre-match meal and the best place for that is at your home ground, where you can carefully control the menu and dietary requirements, where it’s causes limited inconvenience etc…players have access to facilities, treatment etc.

I mean sitting on a coach in itself is not ideal for athletes (what about the physical deconditioning?) , so why on earth would you want to introduce that into a home fixture…. ?

Obviously Away fixtures we should go together, but Home advantage is home advantage for a reason… And the nonsense about Oyston is plain daft … it’s a functional hotel, where platers stay all the time… We can’t let that knob affect our preparations for Matchday to the point where we run away from our own bloody ground!!

Well I can’t say for sure now but Man United certainly used to meet at the Copthorne in Manchester before OT have a meal and the coach would turn up at the players entrance.

As for the environment (I know your an eco warrior) I’m only suggesting somewhere like De Vere.

Running coaches myself the cost to the club
Even on Blackpool’s budgets is minimal.

Your reply makes no reference to the mental conditioning for a good match day “team mindset” of the players.

Your response makes no reference to that and it’s my main point.

Having the team in the right mindset is paramount for winning matches……something we’ve struggled with as of late.

The mental conditioning of players ?

How is that helped by spending time cramped up on a coach, instead of with colleagues in and around the stadium, with full access to carefully prepared food, treatment benches and all the facilities on hand? It doesn't make any sense.

The team mindset would come from sitting down collectively at the home ground for a pre-match meal, knowing that you don't have the hassle / stress of any further travel, having access to all the club staff and proper facilities and the normal build up to a game 'Team Talk' etc..

Whether true or not, I've no idea. Whether it's a good idea, I won't comment on. Suffice to say that BSA got pilloried on here for their open letter to the players prior to the massive game at Wigan I think when we were battling to avoid relegation from the Championship. So what's the difference?

Wow you really are “missing the point”
The coach will not be like PLFS’s on Saturday, 66 on it.
It will be going less than 10 miles with about 25 on it😀😀

I don’t think the dietary supply of previous games have done much good.

As results prove🙄🙄

Waking up & smelling coffee comes to mind🙄🙄🙄

I don’t want to draw it out backwards and forwards mate. I fully agree that all away games should have a strict procedure and focus on the Team Ethic.

At home games I believe that Fortress Bloomfield is where the players should eat and prepare for the game. A hotel and coach just adds an extra layer of inconvenience, hassle and cost to me.

When does the hotel open back up again?

These Clifton Arms stays are causing havoc with the delights of Leafy Lytham round the corner.

Right OK I will bite

There is a massive difference in that BSA weren't independent of the club, infact they spent several years defending the club and the Oyston family when all evidence pointed in the direction of the Oystons being right cnuts

I also think its fair to say that Raggy and partly because of what he's been through and what he's done previously has more passion in his little finger that the whole of BSA put together

I'm not getting into a debate on this btw as i generally agree with most of that you post these days, I just think you have a blind spot when talking about BSA

And that's fair enough given your family connections

He should be potted immediately and the job given to one of our youth coaches until the end of the season
Get where you're coming from Phil but from a business point of view you have placed your eggs in McCarthy's basket and it would seem extremely weak to get rid of him now. That said, his comment about the players and the results of late would make me want a change. The problem with BFC these days is there is no structure and giving the job to a Youth Team coach seems a bit of a knee jerk reaction.
My thing about McCarthy is that most games he's been let down by his defence and keeper - I actually think at times his game plan could have worked but the lack of quality and options has left us in this position.

From a business pov, once I'd seen the RU and HT games I'd be thinking there's a real danger in losing champ status and all the revenue that comes with it because you could see where this was heading.

Which would you prefer, lose £7m tv money, or look a bit of a tit for a couple of months?
