Fargo99 vs Hadrian's Wall

Greetings from Newcastle, where 3 seasiders have just finished a 95 mile trek over 6 days over Hadrian's wall, from Bowness on Solway to Wallsend.

Some of you may know John Monaghan aka Plaisted aka Fargo98 aka Fargo99 (he had a couple of bans), who has advanced prostate cancer and was given a prognosis of 2 years in August 2018. He's just dragged his 2 sons and a plucky volunteer up hill and down dale for 6 bloody days, and we've just crossed the finish line.

We haven't posted anything on here until now as he doesn't like to make a fuss about his diagnosis and didn't want to raise money as he doesn't want to hassle people. We've been fundraising in secret and broke the news to him shortly after finishing this afternoon in Wallsend.

I know a few people who know him have thrown in as I've been in touch with them, but if anyone wants to donate to Prostate Cancer UK in honour of our efforts the link is www.justgiving.com/wallwalk2020

Thanks

Rory Monaghan

Well done John and hope you’re keeping well.
You star 🌟 xx

Yep, brilliant John. Bet you've got sore feet. Rory got in touch with me but wanted to keep it under wraps from you otherwise I'd have put it up on here to try and raise a bit more.
See you soon in Whitby for a pint. Bloody amazing that I'll see you in Whitby, I saw you in Sydney in February but haven't seen you in Blackpool for over a year. Safe journey home.

Cheers guys I'm bloody knackered but elated to complete the trek, it was so hard, some of the climbs and descents were shocking so much harder than I envisaged but we trundled over the line at Wallsend today at 14.45 after a 9am start from Heddon.
6 really hard day's walking.
If anyone else fancies this walk, don't do it it's really the hardest thing I've ever done.
Peace and love xx

Hi Rory,

Did John used to work for civil service?

We were at Housesteads last Friday. We would have waved if we'd seen you 🤣

Well done lads the middle section is tougher than it is reported. Plenty of cows?
Plenty of cows, sheep and poo! West to East is generally considered the tougher direction to travel, we found out halfway through the walk. Some pretty steep inclines on that middle section. Great views at the top though
