Final six fixtures

Being a man of integrity, and wanting the club to finish as high as possible, I can't see Critchley experimenting too much in the next three games, especially West Brom and Luton even more so, as they still have something to play for. But by the time we play Barnsley, the bottom three will be down, and we will finish the season off with three meaningless games. But they you feel it would be patronising on some players to give them a game, saying "we only trust you to play in unimportant matches."
I also think that Critchley will want us to finish as high up the table as possible, to carry momentum and positivity forwards. If we fizzle out now, it's harder to get some players to sign new deals or encourage new players to join. They could see us as a struggling lower championship side, rather than an improving mid-table side.

I agree, but just saying there are other factors to consider. And if our opponents are also not playing their strongest side, then it becomes an exhibition and are the players really able to "show what they can do" if it's not a competitive match.

I think Critch will want the club to finish as high as possible, and top half is still achievable, so I don't see him wanting to throw away points by giving fringe players a run-out for the sake of it.

That said, Friday, Monday, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday is an absurd run of games, so I'd expect some opportunities for the fringe players, just to take the workload off the rest of the team.

Every point matters , the one & only time to experiment with youngsters & fringe players is in the pre season friendlies.

We had a "bounce game" with United a couple of weeks back, over the international break I think, presumably the likes of Beesley would've had a chance there.

I can see Bowler or CJ spending time on the bench to give Kirk a run of games - he's technically only on loan remember so it'll be useful to see more of him in order to make a decision. I can also see Beesley being given a run out, not least because Madine is looking knackered. And I think Virtue will be given some more minutes before the end of the season.
Those are the three main players I think will be used more often in the last six.

You bring Beesley on for Madine after 60 for example.

Doesn't need to a new starting XI, just introduce some as subs, maybe the odd one start, but the nucleus of the team should remain the same.
I was about to say this, and as said above Kirk shows some promise and it would be pertinet to see more of him from now on, same for Dale so his situation can be adressed in the summer (maybe loan him to L1?).
Casey could learn from playing with keogh and/or husband at least for 1 or 2 games.
And we all want to se what Beesley has to offer 😁
It's not necessary about giving them full matches, but maybe putting them on earlier?

Does anyone know if you get additional payments for finishing higher? I appreciate I should know this already 😗

I hope we sign Kirk, for me he's a good technically gifted player (and he can get the ball over the first man at corners).

No you don't.

Given he's playing Kirk I'd say we do want to sign him.

If Casey was to learn from Mad Uncle Rick then Marv could be pushed up front 😄

Some of the ‘fringe’ players have an excellent opportunity today v Liverpool u23’s
Unfortunately not going well so far………

Need to strike a balance, whatever he says he will know which players he definitely wants in next years squad and who he thinks he can replace with better in the closed season. As always will be very interesting end of the season (for different reasons can we read into his views?), then who will he look to release, I really wouldn’t want to guess but I suspect he will surprise us over then next few months. If we want to improve a significant number of changes in the squad required, however well we have done this year.

Always said a side that finishes mid-table needs a strong end to the season to go in to a feel good summer and more season ticket sales.

Bearing in mind the last 3 games will be dead rubbers against already relegated sides I think we’ll see a bit of experimenting.
