Fireworks

dogs been running yp and down and all around the house for about five hours now. Absolutely stressed out. Drinking loads of water wanting to go out and pee but everytime i get five yards outside the house the bangs just start again. Had about five attempts to try and get him out.

There were some pretty expensive looking ones near us in FY4 fortunately our dog & our spare dog don't seen bothered at all. They don't like the rain though especially the spare. Always liked fireworks but you really can't compete with a good professional display.

Cat no.3 is the most stressed. He’s been really jumpy / nervous for the last few days. Cat no.2 has been hiding most of the evenings. Cat no.1 is feisty and tries to send them off. The pooch isn’t bothered. She’s been asleep most of the evening after two beach walks earlier.
I expect because of the rain later today, the fireworks will continue into next weekend. 😡

Thankfully my chocolate lab doesn’t mind the fireworks at all but runs a mile from the hoover.
Our daughters little cavalier doesn’t mi d the fireworks either.

My Cockopoo goes mental at the hoover as well but has been ok with the fireworks, that said she is as mad as cheese though.

Yep, last night wiped him out and he didn't want to get up til nearly 10 this morning. He also has a problem with the hoover but he follows it around trying to bite it and barking at it.

My dog got worse as she got older. Up to the age of 4 wasn't bothered but she's not keen at 9. She isn't a quaking wreck but i can see her looking concerned when a load bang goes off. Its not just domestic pets, wildlife and farm animals will be affected too.
Very true re last sentence.
Spent over an hour with the animals last night ... tractors running to create a sense of “noise normality”.. one display a mere 200yards from the sheds scared ed me and the animals.. 100 dairy cattle stampeding in a shed isn’t much fun!.. however I have to say the folks concerned always pre warn me, hence precautions taken. One night a year is fine... it’s all the other inconsiderate pillocks a week either side that piss me off!!

IF ANYONE really knew the history of why we have bonfire night then maybe they would think again. in 1605 a group of high ranking catholics led by robert catesby planned to blow up the Houses of Parliament whilst the king . JAMES ist was in attendance. Over several weeks gunpowder was smuggled in the chamber below the House . on the night of 4 November early 5 . guards discovered the conspiracy. Guy or GUDIO fawkes amongest them. robert catesby a prominent catholic was the ring leader. All were imprisoned at the Tower of London to await their fate. They were tortured mainly by the rack to admit their part in the plot. After a trial in late January all were convicted. And sentenced to death by being Hung Drawn and Quartered. this was carried out on the 30th January 1606. guy fawkes escaped being disembowelled by hanging himself at the gallows. the others went to their deaths having seen their fellow plotters put to death.

why would you think others wouldn't know the history and so you think it's perfectly ok for animals and pets across the country to be scared witless for a few nights every year. Just because of something that happened over 400 years ago. I suggest it's you who needs to think again with your totally crass post.

Agree with this. It would be safer too surely
Our dog has been hiding behind whatever furniture she can, whilst visibly shaking with fear.
I hope that's it, and we don't have a repeat of last year when people thought it was clever to let fireworks off for another week after bonfire night.
Should be banned outside of organised displays, only mouth breathing morons buy them.

If you'd been posting on here for any length of time you'd know that is simply not true. You do so many on here a disservice with that comment.

The shop near us sells fireworks with the selling point of really loud bangs.

Just fuck off.

I got home from Bromley at around 1.00am and the bastards were still going off all over the place.

It's ridiculous.
I would far rather go to an organised event either fireworks or drones, but end up driving my dog around for 3 hours each night they go off, as it is the only way to settle him

Sister's dog is only 2 so maybe there's something in that. Will see how it fares in future years.

Genuinely sorry 20s.

I remember you posting a few weeks ago that you'd been up half the night with him. I know what that's like. Apart from the fireworks, is he OK now?

I still think that 5th November should be celebrated, but that fireworks should be banned for the rest of the year (including New Year's Eve) apart from Diwali. It's important to remember our history.

I always celebrate the day Margaret Thatcher died (8th April), but that's a personal thing

What pisses me off is the Halloween celebrations. Bloody American import. When I was a kid Halloween was a non event. .... and High School Proms!!!!!! I ask you?
