…on whether Appleton should be sacked or given time.

Below is a table of managers that have been sacked in the Championship this season (and Appleton), the % of games they lost since the start of the season, there last 10 games (if they managed to last that long) and how many wins in that last 10.

How has he still got a job?

Surely the sort of stats is what decides if he stays or goes? Sorry, those sort of stats SHOULD be what decides his fait.

If we were playing well and just being really unlucky, then fair enough. But we are woeful at best. Attacking manager apparently!!! How many games have we played without having a shot on target?
 
I go to the gym and drink with Mark Hudson he's never told me he was a manager. He would probably do as good/bad as those mentioned
 
The ongoing silence from the board, strongly suggests that their support for MA will continue & he is going nowhere soon.
As MA's under such huge pressure, the board should issue a statement, stating what their current plans are to get us out of the mire.
Some will opine that they (like the Royal household) have no need to make any comment. I understand that view. However, by saying nothing, our 3 esteemed leaders will sit in their comfy seats, watching the unrest become increasingly vocal, whilst leaving MA to face the wrath alone in the dugout.
He's a tough character, but he's only human and he won't be enjoying the continual criticism. If the board intend to retain him, he deserves to hear them tell the supporters exactly that - don't leave him exposed as an isolated human punchbag.

I’m not disagreeing with you i’m just saying it’s upto the owner…it won’t be cheap paying off his contract? Which tbh seemed generous length wise…..Then the finding a new manager ..again not easy as i’m guessing budget ain’t gonna get the kinda manager fans want…

There is surely a break clause. My guess is we would have to pay up to a 12 month mark and no more.
 
The best situation right now is to stick with him, get the 3 players in we need and see what happens irrespective of the end result. Bringing in a new Manager will take time, a lot of toolheads on hear dont know what the answer is.

That makes absolute no sense Smith who wins 3 out of ten is on 38% but Appleton who's won none is on 48% yet DS he had 11 points out of 10 games MA 4.

Who worked out these percentages what a stupid thread.

Loss % is based on games this season, not the last 10. Smith lost 9 of 24 games. Appleton 13 of 27. Stats don’t lie.

What a stupid reply.

It's only to be expected, with our top scorer sat on the bench getting splinters in his arris.
Strikers are confidence players & giving Jerry 20 mins on the pitch, won't do his confidence any good whatsoever.

Even then with Bowler, Rogers, CJ, 2 attacking mids and madine up top to hold up play, it's absolutely tragic.

Doesn't help when we hoofball and also have very little control of the game.

How on earth is that the best situation? We haven't won in ten and it's clear that with him we are going down. There is often a new manager bounce and we desperately need things to change.

Aye but he blagged it to two championship playoffs, one of which was successful. We went down with 35 points (I think). Not bad under karlis the clown. Followed it up with another playoff at Wembley... where we were robbed.

I was on about Appleton being the fraud haha! The football under Ollie was worlds apart from this shambles we currently play.

10 new players won’t make a difference if they’ve as woefully mismanaged as the current crop. We’ve turned into a clueless niggly outfit with no clear style or plan. Oh and we don’t win football matches

The biggest white flag is on the pitch...they are not playing for him...as for the forest win...cooper made 11 changes and sturridge missed a hatfull.

Surely the only reason he still has the job is that he's on a long term contract?
If he had a 2 years contract he would be gone already.
Who gave him 4 years? Mansford I presume.
SS should get rid of MA and Mansford at the same time.

Is it poss that Appleton didn’t want the job after seeing his wages, player budget etc….and the 4 year deal got it over the line? 🤷‍♂️
 
Criminal to offer him a 4 year deal with no clause to sack him, if that’s the case. Surely it should be “here’s a 4 year deal, but if we sack you we pay 12 months as compensation…”
