Will Dobbie do it?

Commands his area so much better than Maxwell and will mean we are not so vulnerable to those dreaded in-swinging corners!

A better shot stopper and distributor to boot.

Dropping Grimshaw has directly correlated with the sharp drop off in performance and form. If Appleton had stuck with Grimshaw as No1 we would still be well in this relegation dogfight granted, but not the 7 points adrift that we currently are.

I think Maxi needs a break after what happened last week but I do think he's been targeted quite unfairly given the whole team has been awful for a long time and he's been under a lot of pressure every single game.
Realistically, taking the bias away, there's not much between them tbh, neither command their box and come for crosses, both are good shot stoppers and distribution isn't great from either although Grimmy may be slightly better but talking wise Maxi is better.
I think Grimmy will start though and given he's the younger of the two then maybe that's right but we should certainly cut Maxi some slack as he is one who i definitely think gives a damn.

Grimshaw was a certainly the better keeper. It would be a tough gig today though and understandable if he’s a bit rusty. He certainly deserves the last 6 games.

It doesn't.

Simply put, we get more points when Grimshaw plays than when Maxwell plays.

Arguably an unfair comparison, but the eye test says that Grimshaw is the better goalkeeper and the stats back that up.
Sorry I was annoyed with x3 manipulating figures to fit his contrary agenda.

Why don't you do the next 20 games Flappy played this season?
Why would I do that ?

We’re comparing on a like for like basis surely?

10 games for Grimmy
10 games for Maxwell

Both under Appleton 👍

I could knock two points off Grimmy’s total for the Huddersfield Game too really, being as the goal he let in didn’t count, due to Hawkeye failure. 😉

Over those 10 comparable games Grimshaw conceded 15 goals (16 including Hudders) Maxwell conceded 16.

As most balanced fans have been saying all season… There is absolutely fuck all between them apart from in the heads of those with an agenda.

It is impossible to compare on a like for like basis (Different opponents, injuries etc.).

The bigger the sample size the more accurately we can see the effect each keeper has on the team.

Blackpool have alternated between Grimshaw and Maxwell over the course of the last two seasons, which is a lot of football. Over that time:

47 Pts from 51 games with Maxwell
48 Pts from 36 games with Grimshaw

No agenda. Those numbers speak for themselves.

It kind of falls down when you realise that we got 11 points out of Maxwell's first 10 games under Appleton 😉
And factor in the number of chances created by the opposition, then further, clear cut chances.

Then factor in first choice defenders playing.

Then factor in league position of opposition etc etc and it quickly becomes obvious that simple comparisons are worthless.

No they don’t… Grimshaw hasn’t had to play under McCarthy for a start off…we’ve had 5 games under Maxwell with at least one player sent off this season alone…

That’s before we even start on the numerous changes to the rest of the team / squad both this season and last…

I’ve seen them both make terrible errors…
Both fail to make saves they should have made
Both make match winning saves
Both get caught on their line
Both fail to deal with crosses
Both fail to command their area
Both fail to set up a wall properly

And that’s this season alone…

The only thing that has worked against Maxwell is having played more games in a shit team. Whilst Grimshaw has improved with every game sat on his arse.

I’m sick of hearing about it….

I hope to god that we play Grimshaw today, just to shut the knob heads up 👍

I guess we'll never know.

Grimshaw isn't as good as some make out. He is still too short. But the stats do state that he is better than Maxwell. Maxwell has also been particularly poor in the last few games. Somehow, he starts again today.

Grimshaw is far better with his feet than Maxwell. It's like comparing Keith Southern and Charlie when it comes to passing. It isn't even close. I don't understand how anyone can remotely say that.

Maybe Maxwell is to big to drop!
A big personality who may control the dressing room.
But this would have been the game for a change , hard for Dobbie just coming in.
At the end of the day Maxwell starts , so end off.

He hasnt done it and I didn't expect him to. Too controversial in his first game. Maybe next week when hes had a full week in charge.

Club pushed a new contract under Grimshaws nose last season,, I bet he put a release clause fee in after seeing the humming and awaiting over Bowlers transfer and I also bet he put a relegation escape clause in.
Reality I'd we will probably never see him between our sticks again and if relegated he will be sold for an "undisclosed" fee which equates to sweet frugg all.
..

Grimshaw was neck and neck with Marv for Player of the Season last year. Both have gone backwards but the lad (and Marv) remain quality.

Just thought it was worth updating the Grimshaw v Maxwell stats this season:

24 Pts from 31 games with Maxwell

17 Pts from 13 games with Grimshaw

Huge double save today to preserve the 3 points.
He saved it 3 times in that instance not 2.

Some more stats.
Grimshaw keeps a clean sheet every 3rd game and Maxwell every 6th game.
Grimshaw's win ratio is twice Maxwell's also.

I think with him in we'd have held onto a few more close games, the odd extra points and have a far better chance at safety because of it.

Maxwell's 2 assists for Watford stick in the craw the most and that was the point I wanted him gone.

They aren't even the worst mistakes that led to goals. However I don't want to slate the guy, he did good things for us, it's just Grimshaw is better.

So far coming in from the cold Grimshaw has had maybe 2 moments, one with the punch that hit Nelsons hands, what his hands were doing there IDK, but he saved the follow up. Today was a bit of a fumbled catch but he got to it.

He's not free of mistakes, but less lead to goals and he more often follows one up by saving it. He's also just faster and more agile and more likely to make saves.

I am and was a Maxwell critic from the time he replaced Grimshaw. Why? Cos Grimmy is just a better keeper. It’s cost us many points both home and away and towards the end it was a total joke and pain.
Too late now . But??
