Full length Appleton interview

I really think you learn more from his interviews as to what he really thinks than Critchley ever gave away. Whether that’s a good thing or not remains to be seen but can’t fault his honesty and media management skills. And that showing at QPR has warmed me to him by a significant number of degrees.

Really impressed with how he comes across. He will be the first to admit he wasn't the fans choice at the start of the season, but comes across as really honest, and if we are bad, he wont try to fool the fans into thinking we are some super power as Critch often did. Nothing wrong with that, as everyone has a different management style, but from last season, I think Blackpool fans just want honesty instead of trying to pull the wool over our eyes. Think he describes the game perfectly, and he admits what every fan can see, we need to stick the ball in the net. However, we are creating chances, in every game, so the goals will come if we carry on playing how we are. Keeping hold of Bowler will probably be the difference between getting in the top half and struggling down the bottom this season mind.

I agree with pretty much every word you say there

That was straight talking. Liking him more and more.

Makes me think the ‘erring’ and pausing from Critchley was less to do with our wanting to believe we had a considerate, analytical and thoughtful guy leading the team and maybe more to do with a guy who was feeling unsure, hesitant and lacking in self-belief.

He's not just an excellent coach, he's an excellent manager.
He's a basic Manchester lad who's not forgot his upbringing & having fought and beaten cancer - that gives you a perspective of life & how to treat people & situations (eg his view of Josh apologising last week because of the treatment he'd received).
We'll go through tough times but he's a great leader great.

Im quite surprised how well he comes across. I was never one of his detractors but not keen on his PKE connection, however, he sounds quite refreshing.
