Gabriel fee

600k seems fair, not sure what people expect, we paid almost 300k for Chris Malkin 25 years ago.

I'm interpreting the "wherewithal" comment differently than most it seems, I took it to mean he can't do a Fulham and spend multiple millions on players but judging by some of the fees we've already paid transfers in the mid hundreds of thousands are within our budget.

Other clubs are taking Blackpool seriously. We are a well run club and they see us as willing to talk money.
Sadly, other clubs have cottoned on to our ideas/players. If we want someone (Gabriel) then he must be good and they come sniffing (Huddersfield & Sunderland).
Going to have to work harder to get deals “over the line”.

I'm not sure on Gabriel. He has potential. Is he ready for the Championship? Got my doubts. Forest have their doubts, it seems. Critch knows Gabriel 8n training, he's a good judge, and Sadler knows the finance situation, so they'll work out how best to spend the budget and I trust their judgement. Just grateful to feel like that as a Blackpool fan for over 50 years.

I would remind everyone that Pool have some handy lads of their own such as Holmes, Apter, Antwi, and maybe “ Trusty”. I’ve never understood this love affair with Gabriel. He lacks composure, and you can’t learn that.

None of those players are right backs.

I think we have all been conditioned by the Os to want things on the cheap, players, admission etc. 600k not a lot for a young upcoming player in the championship and as a starting point too sure we can nip
A bit of the price.

Exactly. The £600,000 is the equivalent of a double glazing salesman telling you replacement windows will cost you £30,000 but by you saying no, he can suddenly cut that by half after a brief call to his manager.

I’d argue that appearances last season were more down to how we set up, and that Turton edged the starting position. The lad has pace and lots of ability, and he’s not yet the finished player.

I don’t see what you see in Clarke’s pedigree.

As for spending money on match winners, it’s pointless without the right defensive base.
You don’t think being at Aston Villa and still being a Leicester player doesn’t suggest there’s a good player there???

I’ve seen plenty of academy prospects at PL clubs fail to make the grade. Some rebound at other clubs, but many fail to progress. Port Vale 3 times on loan worries me. At the very least it suggests he’s not ready for Championship football.

You have to remember that these lads at PL clubs are a cheap gamble, the clubs can afford to take a punt without any risk.

Gabriel has proven already that he is more than capable for the season ahead.

Disagree completely. Sometimes you have to walk away from a deal if the selling club are taking the piss. Remember Gabriel only started 18 games for us. He spent most of his time on the bench. He has some ability but defensively he’s got a lot to learn. For Forest to want that price or anywhere near it, is a huge piss take.
If Forest have a £1m fullback he plays week in week out for them, they don’t flog him to a rival.
We won’t and shouldn’t pay anymore than £300-400k

Very fair point, but again if there was another RB that Critchley fancied we certainly would have signed them by now.

I understand why Critchley wants him and think that we aren't going to be able to find a better RB for that price.
