Gambling firm 'Leo Vegas' sponsoring the new shirt...

Just found a guy on twitter that removes the sponsor from any shirt for £10. Can see him getting a few of these shirts through his door.

Everyone can be disappointed all they want saying money over morals whatever the truth is every single person would be happy to wear it for a certain amount of money, and that makes everyone a hypocrite and a shit talker 🤣

I think when it comes to things like gambling it can be deeply personal. I've lost a good friend because of it so I'm not interested in promoting it in anyway.
I don't begrudge anyone not feeling like me and everyone is entitled to feel how they want about it, but it will turn a few people away that's for sure.
This I think.

I can see both sides of this argument. I’d rather a different sponsor to be honest, I don’t think it’s the best decision and it will be a thing if the past in the Prem in a year or 2.
I‘ve not been personally affected by gambling issues though so I’m probably reasonably relaxed about it.

Does that make it right though 🧐

I'm not hugely keen on betting firms sponsorship but then equally any sponsor could be deemed morally questionable. Who would you want Apple, Amazon, Starbucks, Financial Services, Energy firms.
Is what it is and tbf I like the shirt and we've probably done quite well out of it.

How many of you have placed a bet on BFC, I’ll wager it’s most, so a bit hypocritical to criticise a gambling sponsor.
Because unfortunately Mates people are now the biggest hypocrites ever.
They get offended about absolutely everything when gambling is OK(lottery,bingo,TV/Radio competitions etc) and have no issues but put it on a football shirt and it's a disgrace.

I am not a gambler, never have been, I don't get it at all but I have relatives who have been destroyed by it and I saw card schools when I was in the Police in the bar when some colleagues would lose a months wages on cards, incredibly stupid and I was horrified to see it. I don't think any form of gambling should be advertised anywhere.

I think that if it is this company then the club have made a massive mistake, it was the same with the Wonga one, but that fitted perfectly with the idiots in charge.

Bit of a weird one the old gambling shirt sponsor debate. Unless you’re anti gambling AND never ever bet, not even a £2 goals galore acca then you can’t really be that passionate about not having a gambling company for a sponsor.

I don’t like it just because the kids don’t get to wear the same kit as the team they are supporting. I would have hated that as a lad.

If we were sponsored by an alcoholic drink like clubs have been for 25 years would you feel different ?
Alcohol causes more damage than gambling, yet it's the friendly drug of the masses and heavily promoted by all. No one cares when the club makes a new bar...

At the end of the day, it's about revenue and this isn't some shady company, it's common in football.

💯 Eloquently put.
Gambling can destroy families so does alcohol but I know a lot more who've paid the ultimate price from booze in a box.

I don't think booze should be advertised either. If people want to gamble or drink that's up to them but it doesn't mean the club should be endorsing either.

Meh, I don't buy em but I have to say its a bit bland. I still think it's the best Puma home kit but that's not hard.

Sponsor doesn't bother me one bit

Clearly a contentious issue. I would prefer not to have a betting company on the shirt, but then I do bet most weekends so I can’t be too vocal about it.

Can see both sides to the debate. For anyone who has been affected by gambling I can see it is a difficult one to stomach. If the money they have given covers the wages of the player who scores the goals that win the league title…..

Whilst it’s probably morally questionable, it’s not breaking any rules so there is no right or wrong answer really.

Are the same people slagging the sponsor off the same people who drink for example. Why do you drink ??? Because you enjoy it ??? Are you an alcoholic??? Probably not … does alcohol destroy lives ?? Yes but not most people’s lives because most people enjoy things responsibly.. like gambling. Should we give these things up in solidarity because some people have an issue with something ??? No
I’m sick and tired of people trying to control perfectly legal activities and make decisions about what we can and can use or promote.
I love the shirt and have no problem whatsoever with the sponsor.

There are very few ethical companies - Etihad Airways is riddled with issues and they sponsor the biggest club in the country.
I don't for one minute think anyone will open an account with this company (who I've never heard of and so wouldn't use) based on being our sponsor and if they do there are many betting rules in place nowadays. I would however object to them doing any special promos with us.
Don't like the shirt and don't like the sponsors logo and so I won't be buying a shirt but similarly the sponsor wouldn't put me off.
Finally, if their sponsorship money bags a player who scores 30 a season, I doubt many will remember this thread!

Whoop de doo, I wouldn't. expect anything less. Talk about an petulant rant!

I'm done complaining about it to be honest.

It obviously sucks and is poor form, especially considering that the majority of football is moving away from gambling.

BUT, the fact that we kept Utilita on for the juniors while having Leo Vegas for the adults shows that LeoVegas must have come and offered us a decent amount to be principal shirt sponsors.

No one will be complaining when we use that money to buy some new players.

We play in the SKY BET League 1. Yes that's not our choice (and the shirt sponsor is), but it's part of the game right now and if having LeoVegas allows us to bring in extra quality I won't complain.

I see the usual suspects are going down the...anyone who moans is a soft leftie snowflake route...while also getting vexed about a few rainbow flags and Mr Farage's financial woes.

Tbf, in terms of actual harm done, I don't think the sponsorship will do much. There's bookies on most high streets, football on TV is plastered with ads...so I don't think little old Blackpool getting sponsored by a 3rd rate gambling firm will drive many people to the poor house.

It's not a great look for the club though. A shame the council or tourist board couldn't offer a decent amount for a Visit Blackpool type offering, given how important tourism remains to the local economy.

FFS just read this thread through ... how do you lot get through the day? Fecking incessant moaning and bleating and whining.

I'm not a fan to be honest. I'd like to see sponsorship by gambling companies banned.

However .... those moaning are probably the same people who want cheaper tickets and the club to spend more.
