Garrity and Brunskill confirmed assistants.

Think the worry for me is the between Critchley, Brunswick and Garrity they have four senior professional appearances.

I’m sure they’re all good, experienced coaches but we do seem to be missing someone who can whisper ‘when I was playing for Spurs, Rangers, Scotland …’ in the right ear

And there’s no doubt Critch did his best work when McCall or Calderwood were around

Would’ve preferred, say, one of these two and Keogh, or Dobbie…

Now we’ve got the old guard back, let’s continue and bring back Ellis Simms, Kai Kai and Daniel Gretarson. Can’t think who the Chelsea full back was, but he can come back as well

I’m apathetic to be honest. The situation was crying out for new thinking and we are getting the exact opposite. Trying to relight a camp fire that burned out because someone pissed all over it. Sure it might be reasonable to assume some form of flames can be conjured but it’s not going to be the same and will probably stink the campsite out with the odour of stale piss.

I will be the first to say well done if they manage to prove me wrong. I appreciate the more optimistic amongst us don’t want to read the reality of where most fans are at and have their bubbles pricked at this stage.

Sorry. I jumped in on the thread. Thought it was pre and post Calderwood.
In the case of Calderwood, the difference was pretty stark (the points tally per game pretty much doubled) however, it's impossible to know how much of that was down to Calderwood and how much of it was simply down to the side gelling and taking on board the manager's instructions.

We had a slow start to the Championship as well with McCall on board...

Second half of the Championship season a whole range of factors come into play and so 'again' it's impossible to make a genuine comparison..

1. We failed to strengthen adequately in January
2. We spent ages without an assistant
3. The back end of the season we had nothing to play for

and

4. Sides had started to suss us out

I can't say that I would have chosen these two, but it's not my choice and It's not my job on the line if it goes tits up, but I don't think it's fair to write them off on the basis of pretty sketchy data.

Let's be clear the wheels were coming off the Critchley bandwagon well before he left, reappointing all 3 footballing managers/coaches does not fill me with confidence.
What wheels coming off or is it that bloody Peterbourgh result again?
Conveniently forgetting our biggest win of the season,Barnsley away and a draw at play off side Luton.

Every single manager brings in their own coaches like I said the other day this was a total non story who Critch brought in but only on Avftt can some find fault.

I've been out all day which I'm pleased about as I haven't had to read all the crap above. I've just quickly read a couple of posts and thought same old from the same old

Probably the comfort factor with Critchley. He'll want people round him who he knows and trusts to act on his instructions.

That's probably more relevant than getting someone unknown in with good coaching qualifications but unfamiliar with Critchley's methods.

If the intention is to achieve consistency throughout the whole club, then this appointment makes sense.
The voice of reason 👍

Anyone else find this forum ** hard work sometimes.

The negativity is relentless.
Yep… I’m at the point where I can barely be arsed with the place and I’m actually starting to despise some of our fans tbh.

I think the expression is… With Fans like ours, who needs enemies.

Like you say, it’s absolutely relentless and some of the stuff that people criticise is pathetic…👎

Ever since Critchley was reappointed I have told myself to just disregard the latter part of his time here. At the time I thought he was found out and maybe out of his depth, but last season put a whole new perspective on his achievements in keeping us up.

He made tactical decisions to get the best of a squad lacking in championship quality. Now we are at a level where a lot more of the players should be able to compete. It feels unfair to write him and his assistants off before a football has been kicked in anger in league 1. Hopefully his tactics can be a bit more, shall we say, inspiring if he feels we can compete.

Yes I appreciate my unfounded optimism may well come back to bite me, but what do we gain from being so negative?

I despair of some of our fans being of such limp constitution such that they require a football message board to only reflect their own sugar coated views. That’s pathetic in my book! I read plenty of optimistic stuff on here and haven’t an issue with reading it or think I can barely be arsed with the place because of it. It’s all a bit dramatic isn’t it?

Are you sure the optimistic stuff doesnt get you down? 😆

I just read it and weep, mostly 🤣

I’m optimistic that Critchley won’t resign for another job before the start of the season now his trusted yes men are on board to get a tune out of Virtue and co 👍🏻

Keep the optimistic thoughts coming. 👍

Not really… The negativity on here goes way beyond what’s normal and so yep… it’s draining.

Why the fuck so many want to wallow in their own misery is beyond me.

Thommo was kept on as assistant for many managers here and at PNE
Harford at Luton has been there forever
If they are good enough you keep them.
These 2 are personal friends who will not question Critchley, and think cone handling is probably their level
Harford is not an assistant, his position is not directly linked to the coaching staff. Because he is used as a figurehead type in interviews, most people do assume he is an assistant.

“Where’s the Assistant?”
“Still no Assistant”
“Still no Assistant”
“Still no Assistant”
“Still no Assistant”
“The New Assistant is Shit”

“How many Season Tickets have we sold?”
“Any update on ST Sales?”
“Why do the Club never communicate with us?”
“Anyone heard any news about Season Ticket sales”
“Why the fuck have they released details of Season Ticket Sales”

I want what is best for the club.
If Critchley leaves would you expect either of these appointments to step up in the head coach role.
I want someone who is a strong enough personality who would question and advise the head coach, not faceless yes men.

Stop moaning for God‘s sake and move on.

As long as we start off top of the league and stay there for the entire season, I don’t care if his assistants are Micky mouse and Olive Oil

Not so much sugar coated as "balanced".

That would be good now and then, from some people. You can almost set your watch by them at times.

You are enthusiastic about the reappointment of failed assistant coaches? I want better sorry if you believe that is a negative stance.
Critchley wants these two, I am willing to give them a chance and not condem before a ball is kicked in anger.

Positivists want to shut down the doom and gloomers

Doom and gloomers want to bring a dose of reality to the positivists

And as usual most people are balanced in the middle. Yet the positivists want to portray their own position as balanced when it isn’t. And doom and gloomers think they are realists not fantasists.

AVFTT must have access to Sadlers Time Machine 😂 It’s always been this way.
