Did a fantastic job for us last time at a very challenging time. His achievement then is perhaps not appreciated, but it left us in a better state for when the O’s left.

He’s built his experience since, including some knocks, but he’s bounced back and done very well at Dundee this season. His record reads well.

He comes across to me as the type of manager we like at Blackpool, in the mould of King Billy. Hard working, straight talking and down to earth. If I were SS I’d be considering him.

Good shout out for Bowyer but i think he will stay at Dundee and have a crack against Rangers and Celtic etc

Dundee is my Scottish team, so I’d feel bad, but he faces a huge challenge next season in SPL. It’s arguable that this is the high-point of his time there.

I’d also be surprised if his salary at Dundee could match what we would pay.

To be fair this would be very different. He left the club, resigned because he was frustrated by the O’s. That’s something we should admire. In contrast to other ex-managers he never got to show what he could do.
Yeah but not really, if we keep going back it would show a lack of vision.

We need people who haven't managed here before.

We've gone back twice now and both have been awful, there's not a lot of will to do it again, hardly going to inspire the fanbase keep bringing people back.

I don’t think the majority of the fanbase ever saw a Bowyer match. Compared to the managers we have gone back to, Bowyer is not the same. He was successful at a time when other managers would have failed. He also had the balls to resign under the O’s ownership. That’s something that is quite endearing to me.

I didn't, but we need to stop going back, it doesnt excite the fanbase, especially after going back already twice.

To go to someone we had during one of our worst Oyston periods isn't really a great idea.

Fresh start.

If we want an experienced manager it would be a good choice currently has a 54% win rate at Dundee which is not to shabby (as Jeff would say)

Might as well draw up a list of ex managers and tick off who we should have next.
It’s not a case of ex managers but we need to get this appointment right. Whilst on this topic I’ll add my personal opinion on Critchley who is an ex in saying I don’t think it would be a good idea. Dobbie would be my choice.

Not totally against the idea,I like Bowyer but due to last appointment maybe we should step away from previous managers this time? GB did a good job at Dundee but they were by far the biggest club with the biggest budget in a very poor league. Suppose he’s only done what was expected there!

Nothing like King Billy. He's as dull as dishwasher, while he got us promoted we turned in some absolutely dire performances.
Anyone go to Mansfield away 😭
Not saying I don't like him but I think he would be ok in a D.O.F role

I don’t believe Appleton achieved anything, in either spell. No comparison for me.
I was responding to the points you raised in your post. Plenty of managers, here and elsewhere have failed second time around. Appleton TBF wasn’t here long enough to achieve anything first time round.
Personally I never had a problem with how either manager left. It was the fact they were prepared to come in the first place knowing what the Os were like, or at least they should have.

I’d be happy with Dobbie, but fans have understand that he won’t be playing the sort of all out attacking football we’ve seen in these few games. It’s been a free-hit, we had nothing to lose. Expect a far more balanced approach from the start of next season, if he got the job. That’d be a much bigger challenge for him, so patience would be needed.

Gary Bowyer is like King Billy in that they both have vowels in both their christian and surnames.

In all seriousness, while it wouldn't be the most exciting appointment, I'm sure we could do far worse.

Like everybody else, I don't know whether or not he'd be successful or not but that he has been our manager before won't make any difference.

The only thing that's the same now as when he was last here is the colour of the grass.

Don't think it'll be him, only being reported as "in the mix" because he's just gotten Dundee promoted and is rumored to be leaving.

Nope. It's green now, it was a mudheap when he was here😉

Winning matches will excite the fanbase.

The question is will Bowyer do that in L1?

The other thing I seem to remember is that he put his hand in his own pocket to pay bills for the team when Karl wouldn’t. Because he felt it was important. If I’ve remembered correctly that speaks volumes about the man and his values.

He was also cracking as Sergeant Boyden in “The Bill” 👍

Season tickets are sold before a ball is kicked, by then we can already create a positive narrative and have momentum.

Of course if anyone comes in and is successful, people will get behind it if and when it is.

I just don't see the need to make a random appointment and go back to someone who was here under bad times.

I doubt he wants to leave where he is after a promotion anyway.

If its Dobbie and at a good price to fill the stadium it'll be interesting to see what we can do. It'll be incredibly marketable and capture more pool fans than ever at this level.

We've never had all the positive things fall into place... I say fall I mean put into place.

It's about time the club started utilising the feelgood factor and we've actually got one despite being relegated, they just need to keep it going and add to it.
