Gary Briggs

Spooky just said hello to his wife in poulton used to work with her years ago. Went to a few work doo's with them both. Gary great bloke very quiet and loved rugby.

His sending off at Rotherham the following year was even better. 2 identical fouls within 5 minutes 😂

I used to watch him playing for Oxford when I lived there. GB and Malcolm Shotton was a brilliant hard man pairing for the Us.

That vid takes me back. When Garner came on for Carlisle, Maxnix commented on him being ex-nobber. I jokingly said, no relation to our Garner, I hope! He replied, who’s Garner? 🙀 I forgot his generation won’t remember, “Ooh, Andy Garner!”

I remember my mate was living in Oxford at the time of his signing, he'd seen him play a few times and just said you're getting a nutter, you'll all love him. Which of course we did and still do.

Which was the game where he did what he did and didn't even wait for the ref to show the card, just headed off to the tunnel?

I remember going to watch us play Crewe where he got sent off in the first half. He mastered the art of heading the ball
while headbutting the opponent at the same time. The most funny memorable moment was when I watched him play a Tuesday night match,
he moved from the center-half position to the right of the midfield, and the opposition had a player who was kicking some of the younger Blackpool players, as he walked past the player he deliberately elbowed him in the face. The officials didn't see the incident as the play
was at the other end.
I also remember the Spurs game, when Linkear missed that chance, having watched a reply of it recently the nearest player was Briggs,
his reputation and style of play must have been so well known that strikers must have feared playing against him, and hence it must have
a huge impact on their performance when they were watching him rather than the ball.
