I'm not one to BBC bash but they pay him all that money and he's still got another job presenting Champions League on BT. It's winding me up to a level as to when I see Schofield on we buy any car.
Cut Lineker, save the BBC and just give it to Mark Chapman whos better and I'm sure a lot cheaper.
Don't even get me started on Gareth Bale earning 600 grand a week for sitting on his arse. We don't point it out enough these days but it's obscene.

Completely agree. No one watch MOTD for him. The BBC should have a salary cap for all 'talent' if people don't like they can move and make more money on commercial media and allow new talent to come through.

Good shout re Chappers.

The guy is absolute class and born to present. He's brilliant on the BBC NFL show and has great knowledge of many sports. Does the Rugby League from time to time when it's on the Beeb too.

Agree with the OP. Lineker is properly on the gravy train at the BBC. His brother is a scum bag too.

Complete bollocks he gets paid for doing a job why can't he work for someone else nobody would complain if it was the other way around and BT was he's main contract.

The obscene amounts presenters get paid from a public service provider is another issue.

A few years ago I think the BBC asked all their presenters to go freelance allowing them to seek work elsewhere. So who can blame them

The point is though the BBC will make cuts elsewhere ...local radio etc and not cut his ridiculous wages down and when he's earning elsewhere as well. He's a presenter, yes he has a talent but it's nowhere near irreplaceable. Cut his wage and if he doesn't like it then get someone else. Then you don't have to make cuts elsewhere that really bother people.

Agree about Lineker, but Bale has been treated like a leper by ZZ and Madrid. If he chooses to run down his contract as a result then fuck 'em.

Are you as contrary in the real world as you are on here?

To be honest I rarely watch MOTD these last few years ( maybe it’s just on too late) but as I have BT sports ( which until the last few days I was hardly getting my money’s worth for) I certainly like to watch the Europa and Champions league( well done City for knocking out Real) and even the National League football.
I also think McM is actually really good as a co commentator ( who seems to have a good knowledge of football) but when it comes to the half time analysis I usually find something else to do (eg) drying and putting away the dishes and then at full time switch off the TV or IPad.
Chappers (or Chaffers) is actually a very good “ host” and as said very knowledgable about a number of sports... and Lineker always has his crisp adverts to fall back on.

Nothing contrary about seeing both sides a bit like my political beliefs Mac unlike a lot on here. 😁

I like him as a presenter and the o/p was about why he can get a lot of cash off us basically then allowed to work for a private company as a top up,he's not the only presenter to do it most have side lines be it radio,Tv,other business etc but he's singled out but because he's top of the earning pile.
Chris Evans before he left was getting over a million a year also for a morning radio show and has other interests they both earn too much that most would agree on.

The BBC costs about £3 a week and people still complain??!!
Just to be clear, I love the BBC and there's nobody who will defend its corner more than me. My point is that if they have to make cuts then Gary Lineker would be a good place to start instead of cutting programmes/ services elsewhere.
