Gerrard wants Critch

It's an obvious link, so lazy journalism from a lazy journalist who seems to throw an awful lot of 💩 a dine out on any that sticks.

I'd tend to agree that it's nothing more than a made up story, especially considering the emotive topic & given Critchley's history! just written as clickbait designed entirely for page impressions/clicks etc.

However, i think it's an ideal opportunity for the club to spin what is a negative story in a very positive manner & solidify our still split fanbase re Critch, if they deal with this correctly & very quickly!

A statement of intent from Critchley, with words to the to the effect of "I've made that mistake once & I'm going nowhere" would not only put it to bed, but would serve to perhaps cut Critch a little slack & align us all & fully get behind him, in time for the forethcoming season ahead!

If genuine, it would absolutely be in the best interests of the person in question, and also our club. Either we’d be able to keep hold of our main striker (and hopefully partner him up with someone as good), or we would have the finances to bring in 2 or 3 quality key additions. Promoting our existing coaches up the ladder, while maybe bringing in an experienced assistant would be the most stable and sensible response. In all this, a swift and smooth resolution would offset any potential upheaval.

Having reflected I’m split on this as from a purely financial point of view he, and his family, will be set for life and if we are being honest that is a priority for all of us so for purely financial reasons I can see why he would go. From a football and reputational perspective it’s career suicide, if he jumps ship again 47 days after being re-appointed and all the ‘im committed to this club’ etc particularly in his Radio Lancs interview no club will touch him in a managerial role ever again. His reputation will be in tatters and will I feel never recover. From a coaching point of view with the quality of some of the players going over and his ‘passion’ for developing young players in not sure it’s a step up to be honest. What does need to happen is this needs putting to bed one way or the other - either he goes and we appoint super quick or he stays and the club issue a statement from Critch to that effect. If I was to put my 50p on it though I think he might just go!
If the rumours are true it’s hard to see him turn it down, after all if things don’t go well here he could be out of a job at Christmas. Then what would he be thinking. I’d just be surprised they were joining up again given they hardly set the world alight at Villa. But maybe Gerrard just wants a mate alongside him to keep him company

Critch signed a new multi year deal spouting commitment to the process and long term project last time and went for the moolah and the chance to work with Stevie G. I’m not sure I trust him not to do exactly what he did last time for exactly the same reasons again irrespective of all that’s been said since his return. I don’t trust him.

Click bait Nixon has no other news on Blackpool and needs to report something to Blackpool fans to keep him relevant to them.

Critch to follow Gerrard to Saudi was the obvious story.
Could easily go back for Beale at Rangers ,he seems money hungry.

I don’t think Critch going and Jerry staying are relatable.

Perhaps not, but nonetheless the fact is that money almost always talks.

I was offered a job in the Gulf which would have quadrupled my wage, but turned it down, Better the Devil you know i.e.UK than the one you don't. So to those who say no one would turn down such money, all humans are only after money etc etc etc think again , we are not all in the greed league.

The problem with jobs like this is that the wages are likely to be mad crazy…millions even for an assistant probably. Money talks and our paltry wage deal will be nothing in comparison. Sadler is going to have more egg on his face than an explosion in an omelette factory!
Except he wouldn’t would he. If he was 50/50 over who to appoint we take the 5 million and just appoint him and the season has been bankrolled. If anything you could say it was a genius appointment

With all due respect and without the knowledge of your circumstances I think it may be a slightly different scenario we’re talking about here. This isn’t a case of a more comfortable existence but almost guaranteed millions.

So you wouldn’t be interested retiring at say 45/50 as opposed to say 60/65 with a much more financial secure future?

I retired at 52 after spells in Saudi all tax free of course.

Yet you wouldn’t? Yer ok Wilf. 😉

Probably money talks at then end of the day.

Critch said how he enjoyed spending time with his 9 year old lad. He can still do that with us. Not sure he'd see much of his lad from Saudi Arabia. The extra money can't buy that family time back.
Of course you could they have some fantastic international schools in Saudi. You could also sell it as a life enhancing opportunity, broadening your horizons, all that baloney

Sorry to answer a question directed at someone else, but personally speaking.....Not if it involved living in Saudi Arabia .... No...Absolutely not!

But would his wife be happy leaving all her family and friends to go live in a country where she doesn't have the same rights as men. If this opportunity was in the UK he'd be gone, but Saudi is very diffrent and its not just his decision. No way would my wife move there and she'd never let me take my daughter without her and there's no way I'd go without them.

I’d be surprised if Gerrard wanted him, and I’d be surprised if he was to leave us again so suddenly. It could be a career ending move, a lucrative one but for how long.
Football is a VERY VERY fickle sport so I doubt very much it would be a "career ending move". If it didn't work out with Gerrard again Critchley still has the kudos to get a job anywhere within the football league for decent money. And that is as shit as football is with no loyalty whatsoever anywhere

Why on earth should the club nip anything in the bud?
It would make matters worse with even more rumours 99% of them fake, let's see how this plays out before asking the club for statements.

As I said in an earlier comment Saudi is a shit hole the bowels of the earth but when you look at what’s going in to your bank account on a monthly basis it kills the pain trust me.

I was very lucky living on a complex which had swimming pools, gyms, even an 18 hole Golf course we used to fly to Dubai and Bahrain every month for a few beers and a chill out life wasn’t hard trust me.

It just wouldn't attract me... If someone offered me £5Million in cash tomorrow to spend a year out there, I'd refuse. Simply not interested at all in the money whatsoever.

The reality is that everyone is different. Some people are motivated by money, others aren't. Some people have families that would move put there, others don't. We have zero idea what goes through Critchley's head and what his family feel about this so it's all just speculation.

I can't see anything happening with this honestly, or if there's any truth in it at all. Critchley will be off to Ireland with the squad and continue with the preparations for the upcoming season as planned.

Fair enough each to their own but at the end of the day if I knew I could retire at 52 instead of 65 it’s a couple of years well worth doing IMO.

If someone offered me £5Million in cash tomorrow to spend a year out in Saudi I'd snap there hands off. Set my kids up and future generations for life. To spend 12 months with Gerrard I'd want £10Million !!!

Personal choices really.... I retired at 48 having never made a career move for Financial gain... In fact I once took a 30% drop in Salary to move.

I call bullshit. Hypothetical scenarios that are never gonna happen are all good and well. If that contracts signed and sat in front of you I imagine you’d struggle to say no.

Money talks as they say but I just don't see this happening. For a start Critchley would lose all credibility and would never get a meaningful job in the UK again. Secondly, Gerrard basically wants an assistant who will do all the work with a squad of different nationalities so would think he would go for someone with that sort of background.

If it was just the missus then I'd jump at the chance and she would drive me to the airport and make sure I got on the plane. 😅

Or did Simon say to Neil I'll give you a 4yr contract if you promise to leave when Gerrard comes calling so you can make me another few million £. 😂
PS.
I don't honestly think Critch will leave. His last 2 contracts have probably made him enough money to not need to go to Saudi to be financially secure for life

Yeah Critchley is like the golden goose. He goes for 5m this time and when it fails there he'll be back again next season, 6 year deal, just before Gerrard is appointed in his next role in China, he'll be back in for him and we go again.

It's a very shrewd move by the club.
