Gnanduillet

I’m sorry to see him go. Whatever your views, he represented something we’ve sorely lacked for a while ie a reliable & consistent goalscorer.

Having said that, if it is the case that he wanted to leave then I’d agree that it’s best for all concerned to part ways. I wish him all the best.

Sad to see him go but probs best all round, with him up top we can be one dimensional and he wouldn’t fit it into Critchley’s style but good luck to him

Top man, top goalscorer. I think many forget how hard he worked at defense as well, particularly set pieces. If we replace him with better, good, but I never understood the hate he got on here. Only at Blackpool can someone who scored as much as he in this truncated season be disliked. Who recently has come even close to his number in a full season??

Yes, his defensive headers at set pieces were vital. Still, we'll be fine cos he was shit, couldn't trap a bag of cement, didnt try, and we played worse with him.....right?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again I’d rather have him in my team than play against AG but him going should make us less predictable. I hope Feeney will be following him out the door as he’s painful to watch despite all his assists.

SG tactics flattered to deceive and it’s not that surprising AG was our top scorer and LF had the most assists when all we did was play it out right cross it in.

There's quite a few players that were painful to watch under Grayson. Turton, Virtue and Delfouneso to name a few. Spearing you can add into that.

New manager, new player sometimes so maybe not worth writing off.

Who are the haters gonna hate now? Only at BFC can the top scorer get so much shit.
GJ - I'm not so sure he was hated? Think that is a bit strong, Nuttall is hated - again it makes me sick to hear the half wits slagging him. He's our player for f*cks sake!

I'm unsure about Gnands personally, but the football we played with him in the side wasn't for me so overall not sorry to see him go. And he should have been top scorer, he played most games and the quality of crosses he received, when he is about 6 foot 6 inch, I would expect him to score plenty.

I would have liked to see him play with a nippier player up front, like we had Chris Long (I think he was called) but it never got a chance. Maybe Gnand s and Hardie may have worked?

We will never know, but best of luck to him. But if he scores more than 10 in the championship i'd be surprised. Hope he proves me wrong.

I'm just going off what I have read on here, and heard at games. Time after time he was the fall guy, but as you say, the haters have Nuttall now so that's alright. I'll stick my neck out now and say we won't replace his overall quality or goals.

I do agree with that GJ - his awkward stance and size etc made him stand out and an easy target.

I just don't think we used him enough, as I said having a foil to play off him. He was often isolated and had to come deep due to our tactics.

His scoring record before this season we quite terrible really, was it a blip of is he capable of being that consistent? I still don't think he is Championship quality - but we will see!!!!

In answer to your question, the jury went out, came back in and found Nuttall as the guilty party.

Exactly, I can't see any hate here for Gnad's, just opinion so wind yer neck in GJJW and have a coffee! It's all about opinions, you can't deny he scored goals but when I saw him play he wasn't great to watch and was nowhere near the quality of previous centre forwards we have had. He was part of a pretty uninspiring squad and he was uninspiring too in my opinion.

We can all look forward to some much more attractive football and new players. The treatment of Nuttall was horrendous and that certainly was hate filled.

I'll chop your head off at the neck then and I bet you we will!! 😃

It was the same in 53. All they did was give it Matthews, he crossed it and Morty scored. It was rubbish.

he was a figure of hate for a lot on here and in the ground and I felt, and still feel, it was unwarranted. I would put him well above Madine as a striker, but he will never live down his one moment of horror at Reading as all his goals will be forgotten. I wish the big man the best of luck and just hope we don't have to come up against him in the future.

AG was the Marmite player of the club.
I would hate to play against him - big, strong, robust, with huge elbows and scored plenty of goals. I personally thought he was an asset and that there was better to come from him under Neil C. However, if the big guy wants to leave then it's best he went quickly.
Good luck big fella, thanks for giving your best in our shirt and I'll watch your career with interest.

He seemed to time his headers better in defence than a striker, possibly cos he wasnt marked as tightly. But I often thought he was over rated despite his goals. He was after all our main striker & 6ft 4ins. We will see how he gets on st next club, but sure he will struggle in a higher division. Good luck to him tho.

Good luck to him. Probably the best thing for both parties: he gets one last big contract, and we can hopefully get a new plan A,and a plan B, that will benefit the team as a whole.

FWIW, I liked him. He scored some important goals for us.

Wrote the above in march (mostly)

My theory is the lad is a late bloomer who worked out how to use his attributes to the best. I don't think he's championship quality but who knows. I think to assume he'd have regressed to his career average kind of suggests his goals were a freak accident and what I like, no, actually loved about the lad was that he just kept going and trying and in a side devoid of creativity, he made stuff happen.

Frankly he was far from a genius, but I think some fans really misunderstood him and I admired him for being so unconventional and bringing a bit of character

Clearly always had some talent and I never understood the stick he took. However he is very limited and the team had to play a certain way to get the best out of him and that football wasnt great to watch. Give me a couple of mobile skilful strikers any time. Peterboro had the right idea going forward but couldnt defend for shit....a bit like Holloways philosophy...I hope Critchley will play attacking football and not the dour, drab Graysonesque drivel

Does that mean Nuttall is the main man now? Stroll on. Worst and most lazy centre forward I’ve ever seen and I’ve been watching for over 40 years.

Well I'm truly gutted to lose Gnands, but I cant blame him for wanting to push on when there were so many clueless, idiotic fans skating him constantly. My 4 year old burst in to tears when I told her!
Good luck big man.

Didn’t he have the same agent as Tilt, he was always going to go. He divided opinion but was the only one scoring on a regular basis. We must move on now & it will be interesting to see how he does elsewhere. I wish him well.

His goals gave us promotion hope. In the end it stopped us being relegated.

This! Absolutely gutted but not shocked. Hopefully Hardie and Nuttall can strike up a partnership. I’m sure Critchley will bring in an apt replacement.

Good luck Armand. After 7 years away you gave this Seasider a lot of joy this season

Personally don't see him fitting into Critchley's style of play so not as big a loss as some people may think.

I wasn't his biggest fan but can't argue with the goals he scored and he was worth his weight in gold defending set pieces. I'd be very surprised if he makes it in the Championship though, league one is probably his level, so if he gets a move to a Championship club every credit to the lad. The higher up the leagues you go the more they expect of a player, unless he ups his work rate, stops falling over and sulking he won't last long..... can see him being back in the lower leagues before long.

He did a good job during difficult times for us and as many have said may not fit into NCs style of play to try and get us into the Championship where we rightfully belong!

I am very sad he is leaving. I did not rate him up until this season and what a good player he has been since. Frustrating at times yet inspirational at other times with a very healthy goal scoring record this season. I wish him the very best for the future and hope he does well at another club. Hopefully the likes of Nuttall and Hardie will make the most of any chances given. Looking forward to seeing more of Madine, he is quality.

I liked Gnando, he wasn't always the best to watch and a bit of an enigma. That said when he was on it he really was a handful. As others have mentioned, the style of play that suited him is unlikely to be that which Critchley will want to produce. I do believe that all League 1 teams need some height and power though, it is important to have a Plan B and also comes in handy when defending. Hopefully the club have some promising replacements in hand.

Even though I didn’t see much of him pre-boycott I thought Gnands was a much improved player this season, especially his hold up play. I was never his biggest fan but that was more to do with our predictive style of play and no plan B when he was in our team. You can’t argue with his effort and goal record this season.

This could be a blessing in disguise, I can see Critchley wanting a more pacey and technically gifted forward so we can keep the ball on the deck more this season!! 👍🏻

Can we replace him with that guy from Tranmere.
Especially as they have been relegated.

Morgan Ferrier. Was all over us in both games but only scored 5 last season (2 against us). Strange he scored so little because he looked quick, skillful and a real handful up top. A more agile Gnands maybe? I'd be happy to see him here.

Too much of a divisive figure and represented the old guard. We need unity and a fresh slate. I am looking forward to the day all our current squad came under Saddler.

Obviously disappointed in this. A real handful and most teams would always recognise him as our danger man. I’ll be watching with interest to see how he gets on in the championship, I certainly wouldn’t write him off at that level.
Madine and Hardie might be useful next year but I wouldn’t bank on it as neither have been much cop while playing for us but potentially could be good.
We really could do with blagging some club in taking Nuttall off our hands and investing in a striker we know will cut it at this level.

He blossomed with the arrivals of Terry McP and Liam Feeney, becoming a key player.
Yes, despite all his goalscoring and defensive work he could be frustrating, but that inconsistency is why he was playing in Leagues 1/2.
Thanks Armand, and good luck.

I don't get why some people are celebrating his departure, saying it's the end of hoofball and it will hopefully see us playing in an entertaining style.
He first signed in the NAPM era, when the personnel and team image were still under the yoke of Oystonism.
If Gnando had been surrounded by similarly effective teammates (and management) and we'd got promoted this season, there would be a lot less grumbling about the team's style and he wouldn't get anything like the same amount of grief. Although no doubt he'd still get some.

Granted, Critch looks likely to be adopting a more expansive footballing philosophy, and in a sense that will be a little easier without a player that doesn't obviously fit that profile.
But he's also lost a 1 goal per 2 games striker. It's going to be a real test of his resourcefulness and coaching ability.

He did a great job for us this year, I can't see how people can say otherwise. His goals and overall contribution were key. And I'd take substance over style in League 1 when it comes to a choice. You can argue that there are more skillful forwards on the books, I'd possibly agree, but none of them produced the results Gnands did. I think we may have got the best season of his career and he might struggle in the Championship, but I hope he does well. He's earned his chance.
