The only redeeming point he had was that he brought in Billy Ayre as his assistant and he took over from him.Hadn't realised that Graham Carr managed Blackpool (well before my time) - watching the Allan Carr comedy at the moment - was he really that crap!
Allan Carr and comedy do they belong in the same sentence?Hadn't realised that Graham Carr managed Blackpool (well before my time) - watching the Allan Carr comedy at the moment - was he really that crap!
Jimmy Mullen brought in King Billy. The only redeeming point he had was that he brought in Billy Ayre as his assistant and he took over from him.
No he didn't .. it was Graham CarrJimmy Mullen brought in King Billy.
Nah…terracing behind the dugouts back in the day you could move all the way along the stands. Billy moved the home dug out over to the other side of the pitch from memory.Fans spitting on the dug out. Lovely.
Was that the tartan blanket people?
To the relative safety of the scratching sheds?Nah…terracing behind the dugouts back in the day you could move all the way along the stands. Billy moved the home dug out over to the other side of the pitch from memory.
Not connected with the spitting. He wanted a view right bang on the halfway line. It would be a brave lowlife that tried spitting at Billy Ayre I reckon. To the relative safety of the scratching sheds?
Billy liked the walk across the pitch to get the fans goingNah…terracing behind the dugouts back in the day you could move all the way along the stands. Billy moved the home dug out over to the other side of the pitch from memory.
he was worse than crap...!Hadn't realised that Graham Carr managed Blackpool (well before my time) - watching the Allan Carr comedy at the moment - was he really that crap!
Fans spitting on the dug out. Lovely.
Was that the tartan blanket people?
Voy, if memory serves the dug outs were in front of the old east stand back in those days and as it was standing only that would free the tartan blanket brigade from any accusations of misdemeanourFans spitting on the dug out. Lovely.
Was that the tartan blanket people?
Jimmy Mullen brought in Billy Ayre after assistant manager Len Ashurst left to manage Cardiff. Mullen was sacked and Director Tom White took over with Billy as his assistant to the end of the season. No he didn't .. it was Graham Carr
He was very successful in recruiting players from non-league. Perhaps that was the attraction to our board. He had previously got Northampton promoted as Champions with a huge points total but played a long ball game so unless you were winning, it was never going to be a tolerable watch.
Nope, Mullen. No he didn't .. it was Graham Carr
You would have said the same about Graham Carr if you had seen him play, didn't take any prisoners. Not connected with the spitting. He wanted a view right bang on the halfway line. It would be a brave lowlife that tried spitting at Billy Ayre I reckon.
I remember the day well.Carr was as good at managing Blackpool as his son is at comedy. I remember going to his first League game for us, the season opener, at Scunthorpe. We were absolutely hopeless and it was clear we’d struggle under him. We never lose to Scunnie, normally, but we did well to lose only 2-0 that day.
I remember him simply because it was so shit. Like the Mugdonald era pure shit. Makes me appreciate that we have stepped up.Was he good? I don't know, I blinked when he was here.
Yes, I was having a joke but I really wasn't here. I was working away. From what I've read, it was poor.I remember him simply because it was so shit. Like the Mugdonald era pure shit. Makes me appreciate that we have stepped up.
Chris Woggle?Graham Carr brought Dave Bamber in on loan before he got the sack. Good eye for talent Carr discovered a few gems when later working for Newcastle as a scout
I can remember Carr having a Q&A session at the Tangerine Club and reveling that Colin Methven was to slow to be kept on,much to the derision of the audience.Am I correct in remembering he was unveiled in the Tangerine Club by OO before one of England’s first round games of the 1990 World Cup or have I dreamt it?
