Great win but.....

I'm sure nobody would disagree we were second best for big parts of the game.

One thing you can't argue is the spirit, heart, bloody mindedness, whatever you wish to call it......they've got it in bucket loads.

What concerns me is that this is a very tight league....
People need to ride this wave of happiness and take every success with both hands.
Talk of promotion is premature to say the least.
If we finish one place above the relegation places I'd be over the moon.

I could of said that during the Holloway ride but I didn’t I just enjoyed every game whatever happened and it was the most amazing time to be a Seasider. The journey is the best bit for me,and if you only get on at the last stop Youv missed the scenery along the way .Of course we will have setbacks to come but embrace the moment life is too short not to .

So we should of been (second best for big parts of the game)
Theyre a big club, coming down from the Prem with a team costing multi millions.. we got promoted from league 1.

It doesnt really matter in the end though does it...Its only the score at the final whistle that matters.

weve got a squad of players that work their socks for each other and the manager, and a team spirit that no amount of £millions can buy.

We should fear no one. UTMP 😊

Keep your predictions going!

Said on another thread that we were lucky to get the three points yesterday. But then I remember Millwall where we got nothing and Hull where we only got a point and should have got three points from both. So yep, I'll take a lucky three points thanks very much.

You can’t expect to dominate every game you play and especially not games like yesterday’s.

We did what was necessary to get the result in tough circumstances and that’s what good sides do.

We stopped them from scoring any goals and we scored one ourselves, by capitalising on their weakness.

Spot on.

We were second beat for 2/3 of the game but you have to put your chances away. Typical away performance and shows once again how good we are at the back.

Gabriel, Keogh and Ekpiteta were superb yeaterday. Both centre half’s read the game so well and are both very brave.

Playing Devils advocate Ginge, you could argue that we were actually best throughout the game.
We stopped them from scoring so surely that says we were better than them?
And of course a brilliant finish from Keshi to get 3 points.

Game reminded me of playing Nottingham Forest away in 2009/10. Our 1-0 win came after Forest dominated much of the match.
We also beat them at home and famously twice in the playoffs.

I'm willing to bet that the issue concentrating the minds of all the Sheff Utd fans at the game is, 'how can we have so much possession in the final third and not convert anything?'

Tbf I did write that we should ride this wave of happiness etc.....

It's the sign of a good side that can find a way to win while having an off day.
I don't think we had an off day...we won, but they are a better team than us and created many many chances. They should have, with better finishing, have won comfortably.
The record books will show 0-1and that's all that counts today.
👍

I’d say the proof of the pudding … if we are serious contenders, then another win on Wednesday against another team in Red and White Stripes, who we rarely beat, will be the cream on top!

Having watched the full replay of the game,we were only under the cosh for 10 mins at the end of the first half and ten minutes at the beginning of the second half.
Other parts of the game we were always in it.
Both teams had chances.
Yep… I think some of our fans are getting a bit carried away with their emotional reaction to the Sheffield attack as opposed to looking at things as they were.

As a supporter I think you always feel like every opposition attack they are going to score and that every one of your own attacks just fizzles out….

To my mind the first half was pretty evenly balanced in terms of the genuine goal scoring opportunities for both sides… Yes, they looked neat and tidy and got in behind us a few times with Osborn and Ndiaye being their two stand out players for me, but I thought our defence dealt with them and we could easily have scored at the other end.

Second half I thought they looked much better than us for a short time, but that was about it.

They might have better players (on paper) than us, but I disagree that they are a better team.

I'd go along with that as well mostly, we had two very good chances in the first half when their keeper had to make proper saves not the dribbles that came to grimmy, and the second half Carey made his point very well where their keeper again had to make a damn good save. We spent a fair amount of time defending and some of it was a bit last gasp. Sheffield are a top eight side without a doubt, in terms of talent anyway, whether they will finish anywhere near that is another matter. They dont look like a side who have a great deal of fight about them, despite the skill and the movement.

On a second watch we look to have been specifically set up to exploit their weaknesses and stay solid. with Bowler in the frist half having an off day we were a bit light down our right, and probably not as opportunistic as we could have been.

At the moment i would say we are a better than average championship side, and the organisation and desire in the team makes us at the very least a top ten side. The only thing we havent properly started doing yet is scoring freely but that seems to be coming.

Teams who comprise of expensive players seem to think they only have
to turn up to win and put the minimum amount of effort on the training
ground the teams I have watched us play seem to tire after 60 minutes.

I do worry about how we come out for the 2nd half, it's guaranteed that our opponents will get a good opportunity early in the 2nd half. Seems to have happened in every game this season.

Deffo agree with what you say.
My view was down to what I heard on Lancs radio but backed up how I thought the game went when able to watch the full game today.
on to Stoke and QPR,two big but winnable games.

Swings and roundabouts for me. Think about the Hull game, for instance, which we should have won comfortably, but didn't.

It's why it is important to make sure you stay in games as long as you can. You always have a chance of getting something from a tight game. I'd like us to be more expansive in the way we play sometimes, but we are still finding our way and the manager has to get results while we do.

As others have said enjoy the ride!
For me a great success would be to establish ourselves in this division, keep the Manager and the players and have some memories along the way…
We have great players, many from lower leagues, who much like the Holloway era are on this journey with us…what difference a few years make!!! UTMP
