What an absolutely pathetic penalty. If I was a manager I’d just choose somebody who would just take a run up and smack it top corner, none of this modern nonsense.

Said it at the time, does anyone remember Ray Stewart at West Ham? Or any more recent equivalent.

A straight run, hit the thing very hard, head over it as you do and aim for a top corner. Keeper will have no chance.

If I was a manager, and anyone missed a penalty that involved stop/start run ups or attempted fancy kicks I'd fine them a week's wage.

Grimshaw had him, didn’t make a move, let the penalty taker make the first move under pressure and he bottled it, class by Grimshaw , top keeper

What is it these days with penalties, when did this ‘Ministry of Silly Walks’ thing get introduced to the run ups. Place the ball, measure your run up as you walk backwards, pick your spot and hit the phookin thing as hard as you can. Really don’t know why modern day players have to complicate it so much.

Madine is the most bankable penalty taker I can remember us having, never looks like missing.
