You can talk about positivity all you want, but it doesn't matter how many positive vibes and good vibrations you put out there; the situation with MA is now untenable.

We all want the team to do well but it's clear that sticking with Appleton is going to send us down. I agree that we may still go down even with a managerial change, as nothing is guaranteed, but it will give us more of a fighting chance.

You stick with your healing crystals and burning sage at home games to send out positive karma all you want, but in reality it's a change in manger that gives us a fighting opportunity

Mansford and Gerrity have been trying to bring Simon around to moving him on. He was close to going after the Sheff game, SS performed a u-turn on firing him then, unknown why, think he wanted to see him with new signings.

Appleton was Sadler's man. Mansford didn't actually agree about his appointment. Personally I hope Simon comes to his senses this week.
 
I am actually shocked he is still our manager, I thought he was bound to be gone first thing this morning. If he is still here on Saturday and we don't win I dread to think what the reaction will be. Sadler needs to be careful or the chants will start ringing out against him and he won't like that.

Sadler, after the Sheff game said 'This can't carry on' and was set on sacking him the next day. Slept on it and changed his mind.
Yes, public comments were made about the fans reaction and backing Appleton & club decisions at the start of the season, I think this has made it harder in Simon's head to sack him now. He should have gone weeks ago.

Paul Elliot is heading up a consortium looking at buying an EFL club. No targets apparently, just a mooch to see which clubs are available.

No way am I linking the above to BFC, just saying that there are buyers. Just about timing more than anything. In fact SS wouldn't sell, not a cat in hell's chance as the potential value of the Club atm is very much subject to league status. And if we went down I think he'd take a good sized hit.

Didn’t Paul Elliot fail the Owners test a couple of years ago just after he’d bought Charlton, not to mention several high profile legal battles with co-owners and business partners and to top it off for them relegated from the Championship.

All before needing a legal battle to get him out of the ownership of Charlton. 😂

Yeh to be fair he sounds right up our street.

Yes he did, if it's the same Paul Elliot. Would be a truly shocking owner for anyone.
Only reason I bring it up is, there are probably always people willing to buy an English Football League club as you say.
Not sure I'd want very many of them actually owning us thought, we've got a fairly decent one.
IF this stuff about not wanting to fire Appleton is true, that is pretty poor, as it's becoming clearer he's not talented enough to be a success with us, but in my book is still small beer compared to the shite people like Elliot get up to in clubs.

As for owners, they should have to pay a bond so that if the club goes a bit pear, the money i sthere. Also never allowed to borrow against assets deemed club essential.

Critchley created the feelgood factor by getting us promoted you plank! And in his first season as a coach at a senior level and was a big factor in getting Connolly and Bowler from Everton.

While I agree about it being too soon for Dobbie I wouldn't be against bringing back Thommo in some capacity. It was Thommo and Tony Parkes who steered us away from relegation when Grayson left and laid the foundations of the squad that Holloway inherited.

To be honest that's even worse. He's just lost millions in an investment scam set up by his mate, Richard Rufus, ex Charlton ironically for this discussion. Rufus has been sentenced to something like 7 or 8 years. Not good either way and I'd be dubious as to why he now wants to front a consortium. Anyway going off on a tangent here arn't I.

A bond enforced bythe FA isn't a bad idea.

Some of that feelgood factor had been eroded by Grayson 2.0 and quite a hefty transfer budget had been squandered, remember Joe Nuttall?

Critchley was backed, there is no denying that but he had also earned the right (and his contract extension) in his second season by being successful.

Foolish to preserve someone else and not look after yourself.
This Saturday should have been bouncing with the return of Bowler and the new players .. instead I fear it'll be a morgue.
 
I don’t entirely buy into this ‘Critchley was backed and Appleton wasn’t’

Critchley spent the transfer budget wisely, Appleton hasn’t.

Critchley used his contacts and knowledge of u23 football for players such as Bowler.

It’s clear as day the hope for Appleton was to try and get players in on loan who are better than those we could afford to buy.

It hasn’t worked.
 
Easy money isn’t it? A few days training, pull 11 names randomly out of a hat (that has to be the explanation), doesn’t matter what the result is and the salary’s his. Come on down.
