Has the 'new' club got an actual heart yet?

Before I start here I don't want to be too negative as there's so much good stuff going on at the moment and good people in key positions.

We clearly have senior operators who are very experienced but I worry we are a little *insert club here* mentality at the moment. Ben Mansford could be at any club, in any town. Just a senior manager running his latest club although again that's always not a bad thing - he's obviously a decent operator. In Simon and Brett we have Blackpool lads who clearly care but we only ever hear from Simon in pre-written statements and Brett in those structured dialogue meetings which I personally think are diluted.

You listen to the Seaside Podcast with CA and hear the real passion and care which was around the club back in the day. We HAVE to get some of those big players from back then into the club and around the place. Charlie, Keith, GTF, Evo etc are all either in or going to be in coaching roles soon and we need to get them in the system.

The professionalism at the top is great but are we really in touch with what the club and town is all about?

I thought it at the time, even if you get rid of the footballing side (which I believe he'd be doing an absolute job in that midfield right now), the return of Charlie Adam would have made so much sense:

- It would have reinvigorated some of the feel good factor amongst the fan base that was tarnished with the Grayson season. Proper excitement at the return of a club legend.
- Shirt sales with his name on the back, ticket sales in a normal season, match day passes at the minute would definitely be up.
- You have someone there who already has a special connection with the fanbase, he already knows what the fans and the club are all about and that would rub off on everyone around him.
- He has stated he wants to go into coaching after he's finished playing and I'm sure he will be retiring soon.

Only factor I can think of is the wage cap and his wage demands being too high, I'd say maybe a reluctance to "go back" but that clearly isn't true as we appointed Grayson as manager.

My thoughts on the connection to those at the top is maybe that is something that just has to occur organically, ultimately we're in an odd position with the boycott which completely severed fan connection to the club - and then a whirlwind few years of changing hands, managers, players, staff and now COVID to deal with.

I think they genuinely have the best intentions for the club at their heart, give it a few more years of just being a stable football club, bums are in seats once again and even a lovely little promotion and that connection will begin to take hold!

Think the ‘Backing Blackpool’ stance was great from the new board but then it got lost amongst that poor run of form around Xmas onwards under Grayson then Covid hit. Be interesting to see how the club pick that up again when this is all over!

It's a shame that the passion and care coming from the top at the time was non existent!.
Obviously I didn't mean the top back then!! Inside the dressing room, coaches and management.

We all want things to be polished and well run but there's a fine line between that and maybe losing the ear of the man on the street. We all got behind the 2010 mob as they were so relatable.

Hi YFG, great OP. As someone who has attended all of the SD meetings I can honestly say all 3 of those directors are in touch with what the club and town is all about. You would expect it with Brett but maybe less so with the other two, but that is just not the case, all three get it to the point you would think all three were Pool fans. My only disappointment/concern is they seem reluctant to hold a large scale fans forum or to do a Q&A live on social media so more of the fanbase could see how passionate and personable they are. In normal times a full Stanley Matthews lounge with 500 supporters in would be a great evening and a money spinner also.

I think the people fronting it for St Sadler are probably just being cautious and not wanting to say things that aren’t 100%. The Christmas campaign showed the heart in the club.

a smiley frontman would probably soften our PR a bit but I think we are going in the right direction generally.

They’ve got heart, but they’re also professional and therefore try to be ‘measured’. It’s difficult for us all to realise that sometimes, with how conditioned we were. It might be boring and appear ‘cold’ at times, but we’re making real progress off the pitch.

The passion will
Come from the fans returning to the ground. Saddler is as passionate about BFC as the rest of us.

I've always said that those of who go regularly, buy the merchandise and post on here are not the problem - it's the floaters and the next generation of fans and I'd agree with much of what @TangerinePeel had to say.

I was surprised how many came out against the idea of signing him on here. To me it was a complete no brainer on every level. The same people who were crowing how Madine was a sack of cack and should be nowhere near the first team probably!
