Has the penny dropped?

Has Critch finally realised the way to win games is to attack - compare that starting line up to the one against the Cods!
He even said in his interview that he wanted his 3 forwards, Carey and the two wide men all to attack .. and no reason not to do this in every game .. I haven’t seen a decent side yet in this league and we only get beaten by Derby and Posh because that’s exactly what they did!

Critch has always known what was required. What fans don’t grasp is that the opposition don’t always come to roll over and have their tummy tickled.

It’s only ever been a matter of perseverance and faith in the system. We’ve always set up to attack and Critchley’s philosophy is built around taking the game to the opposition.

Sit back now and watch the Genius take us to football heaven…. This early season has all been part of his master plan 👍

God I hope you’re right

No he's not always known Mary.

The penny that should have dropped a while back is that Rhodes needs some-one alongside him.

Midfield has always been the key.

3 in a line at home to a team who have lesser ability and players than us should never happen and todays line-up was spot on, with Dembele providing the link from midfield to attack.

He usually has had someone alongside him I think. Beesley, Lavery or Kouassi. No? I can think of one game, Bolton last week, when he didn't.
I think some people must have a blindfold on when they go to the Match to be honest. Rhodes has only played as a single striker once this season (in the game against Bolton as far as I can recall) and even then it was more of a 1 and a half upfront with Dembele slotting in when we were out of possession.

4-0 victory and the moaners have changed their tune from ‘everything is shit’ to ‘thank goodness Critchley acted on our advice’

Laughable !!

Recent performances have suggested we weren’t far away and hopefully this is the start of things to come .

Derby at home as well 👍🏼

Same kind of thing though really…Dembele kind of floating in and out.

I also don’t think you can underestimate what Derby actually did (considering the quality they have in their squad) to come and sit in and frustrate a in that way.

On the day it worked, because we were probably a bit too naive and maybe too eager to force something.

They did a job on us really…

Nope, he’ll change it away to Pompey with 1 up front instead of going to attack and win

Derby at home. Didn't pay off but he still went back to it at Bolton.

I know Dembele is small but to only count him as half a player!!!

not the same kind of thing at all, mary. A player floating in and out is not the same as playing a player alongside him.

Faith in the system 100% but I think it has to be said that Critchley has suffered for being too conservative at points this season.

I disagree, I don’t think the manager has been too conservative at all. I do think we have struggled to nail the kind of positive / winning mentality, which has resulted in periods where we haven’t done ourselves justice and failed to implement the game plan.

With Critchley it is a very thorough process and over time his sides tend to improve.

Fair do's, can't help but feel as though he's gone for solidity over creativity to a fault a few times, game of opinions though isn't it.

There is no doubt if he'd have played Dembele against Fleetwood from the start then we'd be 2 points better off now.

With 20 of the 27 points we’ve got this season coming at home, it’s away that we need to sort out. I’m not sure Critchley will be gung ho at Portsmouth, but surely Dembele starts and we see more attacking next Saturday - would rather see us get beaten 4-3 than try to keep it tight first half and get beat 2-0.

Let's see how he sets us up at Portsmouth. A great performance yesterday but let's be honest, Shrewsbury were as woeful as their away form suggested. I am hoping we are seeing a shift in positivity and also a growing belief from the squad. Hopefully the bookies offer good odds next weekend as I think we have a good chance of being the team that can inflict their first league defeat.

Not really the bloke can't do a full 90 yet.
Some of his better performances are when he's come on second half when defenders are tiering and all his tricks pay off.

The Penny is dropping for the players as they start to get to grips with how Critch wants them to play. That is all. Give the manager some credit FFS on a fantastic team performance the best I’d say since he was last here.

Derby at home was pretty much the same set up as Bolton away.
