Health and Safety Issue?

After 60 years of attending Bloomfield Road, last night I was ejected. My offence? Trying to sneak in a portion of chips under my coat. The stand supervisor clocked it and chucked me out. I was only trying to keep them warm!

Had to eat them outside. Then as I had already scanned my ticket I couldn't get back in!

Finally made it for kick off thanks to a friendly steward. Is it not permitted to bring in hot food because of health and Safety?

That steward probably had a chip on his shoulder.

I'm not aware of any policy about bringing own food and drink. There is obviously issues with cans, plus due to the usual suspects, bottles with caps, but I bring sweets etc all the time.

Sounds like the steward was a knob.

Is it not also a license thing? Because we sell hot food we have to adhere to X,Y and Z.

Its a health and safety issue because the steward was not aware from where you got these chips from . If they were bought in Preston ,then there was a chance of some brain decease passed that people from nobber land suffer from and end up watching sub standard football . If bought in Burnley you may find some of the ingredients would effect your hands and end up growing an extra finger . There is plenty of TV programmes were baggage is searched for the fear of contamination.

WAS there last night. effing hell 1200 hardy souls braving a freezing cold december night and turmed out for a bag of chips. wtf. and credit to the tykes who came fromt Barnsley. steven bought me a drink . door to door in the electro mobile. enjoyed the night anyways. ten squid.

That happened to my mate at the Northampton game too- had never been stopped before . Seems to be a new policy !!

it’s club policy you might have started chucking the chips at the opposition keeper.

Mate of mine got stopped the other week bringing a pie in which he had in his hand.
No pat down just got told he wasn't allowed to bring it in.

Always been the case at lot of venues but does seem heavy handed a new directive?

My lad regularly gets stuff from the Burger van outside the North and has gained entry we'll see his next time.

They've never stopped me with my fondue set, chocolate fountain, camping gas stove and small generator.

They did stop me bringing in my kebab burner and rotisserie mind, apparently the skewers could be used as a weapon, I was starving the entire match.
Unbelievable, shocking from the club, man's got to eat.

It's a very common policy with most private businesses that sell food, you're not going to wander in Wetherspoons eating a McDonald's are you?

You obviously went to the wrong turnstile then as those in the north can sneak in smoke bombs and flares. 💥

Ok then, what if the vegans from Forest Green end up playing us in round 3 and turn up at the turnstiles with vegan pies / sausage rolls. If the club doesn’t cater for vegetarians / vegans then they have a case to answer if away fans aren’t allowed in. I hope the FA doesn’t get involved as FGR might use this in mitigation if we defeat them and we could see the tie being replayed 😂

Can't believe you weren't allowed in.

Sod all to do with the O/P but for some reason it reminded me of going to Oakwell in the late 80's when I used to do spotting with the Police for Waford FC. When we went back to the Police bar after the game they used to have toast and dripping on the bar to go with your beer, delicious.

He was obviously a chip off the old block trying to sell you a red herring or fishing for something else. But, after many years in Health & Safety I can assure you it is not an H&S Issue.🥸

Quiz night at our local, free mucky fat butties as an incentive. Not too many veggies there.

Should have stuffed them down his undies, would have kept his bits warm & maybe he would have liked cheesy chips. 😂

Yep happenned to my two kids, they get burger and chips as a treat from the burger van to take in and watch the warm up cos they dont like ought from the concourse but they wouldn't let them in. As the Steward put it, 'it's a directive from the club, they don't want a burger van making any money that they can make themselves so if you want any food you have to buy from the concourse.' Comes across a bit sh*tty to me essentially trying to put a burger van out of business. Anyway me and the Mrs who used to always get somet from the concourse don't get anything anymore.

They wouldn't even let me have an extension lead to plug my microwave in. The customer service has gone right downhill.

Why? U wouldnt got to a chippy then go and sit in a pub that sells food eating them, it’s common sense that somewhere that sells food isn’t going to want u bringing it in from elsewhere

Wouldn't it be nice to be told this is a new rule?

They going to stop flasks and taking in drinks next?

Chocolates,sweets and crisps?

All sold by the club
You wouldn't go into a pub and bring your own booze to use your anology so this seems a bit petty.

Its more common sense and respect that you dont take food and drink into another establishment that sells food and drink.

Not the point fans have been taking in food for years and never been stopped why all of a sudden in December when the season is 4 months old have they changed policy?

More importantly make an announcement saying so.

One for the SLO.

I presume club just want fans to buy from its own food kiosks however the prices are rediculous so I will buy grom the chippy that's reopened on central drive.

I travel over from Oldham and don't have time to have a meal before a game. For a Saturday game, I buy a bacon burger from the Powell's Catering van near the North, have finished it just in time to get to my turnstiles in the South, then buy a steak pie in the concourse. For the Northampton game, I bought sausage and chips from the newly reopened Jolly Haddock on Central Drive, kept it wrapped up but was prevented from entering by a steward. This has never happened before, seems silly and petty as it just meant I had my chippy tea at the turnstile instead of in the ground. I'm not sure whether I'll continue to buy pies in the ground if the club are going to be so petty in future, my preference is to support the local businesses not the concourse catering.
