Hogan Cup Finals

So today my boys team made it through to the final of the Hogan Cup.

When I was a kid, the dream was to reach the final and play at Bloomfield Road.

We have just found out the final is being held at......Wyre Villa!!

Am I being silly at being so angry? My lad is absolutely devastated, a huge Blackpool fan but robbed of the chance to play at Bloomfield Road(or any proper stadium on the Fylde) in what might be his only ever cup final.

Yes he must be gutted, we once made the final of an under 18’s League - Tyldesley Youth Club v South Shore Rangers which was transferred from Bloomfield Rd to British Rail ground by the bridge on Lytham Rd. Never got over that even though we won 3-2 and I got the winner direct from a corner 😂

No you're not mate. I managed a team twice in Hogan Cup finals at Bloomfield Road and those memories for the kids (& myself) will last forever.

Might be to do with timing

I know there were community games on the pitch today and the Walking football and others are on in the morning

In other news, young lad killed by lightning whilst playing football
Apologies if I have upset you(or anyone else) that wasn't my intention.

The boys have all been told how lucky they are to be able to play football and do the things they love.

However these boys are 7, 8, 9 + years old over the various age groups and they won't understand why they were told they were playing at a proper stadium and playing on a glorified pub pitch in Stalmine for their big day.

From what I can gather AFC Fylde was the original venue but they tore their pitch up when their season finished.

But then we were told Bloomfield Road was the probable location which we found out today isn't the case.

Every credit to Wyre Villa for hosting it, but it's a huge comedown for the kids.

I always found U9 games on a full sized men's pitch somewhat quirky. It was usually the team with the biggest player who could welly it the furthest that won the game.

Went past the ground today and there was a queue to get in so assumed some event was being played on there today - TAM has revealed it above.

The op is right. Now we have a proper Blackpool owner ALL Blackpool amateur cup finals (youth & adult) should be played at Bloomfied Road. I can't believe they're been played at Fleetwood's ground (youth finals) I'm going to try and sort this.

We would have taken Fleetwood's ground, but we haven't even got that 😭
The Poulton league played all their finals on Fleetwood. No idea why the Blackpool and District league hadn't already agreed Bloomfield Road?

As I said this will be to do with timing

If semis only today it’s too late

Clubs only have a small window of opportunity to work on their pitches

With BFC being in the play offs that’s been reduced

You can’t delay work for school games unfortunately

in short, it should always be a dream to play there for our young footballers and i'm sure the club will sort it next year and beyond.

my team got there and it was a real thrill and also an incentive for us all, even for the non-seasiders. amongst other things, it is a very real example of being at the heart of our community

You didn't upset me pal.

I played and scored at Bloomfield Rd in '81 and managed my son's team there 7 years ago.
Brilliant memories.

BFC is extremely well run right now...better than ever in my opinion.

I'm sure there is a good reason why the finals aren't there.
They were at Fleetwood for a couple of years when those vv4nkers were in charge so hopefully they will be back at BR soon.
Good luck to your team ...a final is a final and in these strange times it's just good that your season has ended with the chance to win something....the kids will enjoy it all the same.
