How do you feel about the Queen's passing?

Just stood outside the Indian in Whitby waiting for our holiday takeaway watching a drunk being kicked out of a pub and ushered away by his wife. All a bit surreal to say the least.

Very sad really, surprisingly so. Hairs on neck a bit.

But I do like the down, emotive music that gets played on the radio at these times.

Another fairly rare moment where you'll always remember where you were when the news broke. Like 9/11, like Diana being announced (more emotive music).

A constant in the background life so it'll take some getting used to. 70 years in that role is mad when you think about it.

Hope she got to go on the piss with Jerry Yates first

Looking forward to the Bank Holiday. To be fair it's the first time she has been free, born into royalty means you are a puppet of the state, a life of grind. A figurehead that has zero power, its like being a caged animal in a zoo. RIP Liz you deserve peace at last.

Like a few have said already, I’m surprisingly very sad
I didn’t think I would feel like this
I’m not particularly a royalist but I had huge respect for the Queen. A truly remarkable lady and monarch. RIP

Not unexpected but still very sad.

Our monarchy is I think the envy of many other countries.

I just hope King Charles is given a fair crack of the whip by the gutter press.

I've got the best joke but out of respect to those who feel sad I won't make it.

I think the longevity of her reign is partly the reason why people are unexpectedly sad perhaps. Not just a monarch or head of state but the only one that 90% of the country has ever known. Prime Ministers have come and gone, Governments have come and gone, and even our own friends and family have come and gone, but she has always been there. Even though we don't know her personally, the familiarity counts for a lot more than you think.

Not too surprised as she was 96 after all. But very sad nevertheless. She was a constant in all our lives until now and also a link to our parents and grandparents. She was a great lady. God bless her. And God save the King.

What a crass comment but then most of us would not be surprised by it from you.
We have just lost one of the a truly dedicated person to not just this country but many others round the world but here comes you with basically faint praise and underlying abuse….this is related to Shandypants in case anyone doubts.

Still working 2 days before she died at 96. Even though I was in the Armed Forces for over 32 years I am not a believer in hereditary positions in matters of State. That said, her 70+ yrs of Service to our country puts mine into the shade. I hope she rests in peace with her best friend and lifelong love, Phillip. Thank you Ma’am and goodnight.

Take it how you like, I couldn't care less. Truly dedicated, she hadn't got a choice in the matter. The royals are unlucky that they are prisoners of the state, I wouldn't wish it on anyone and for that reason I wish her all the peace in her death. She didn't get much when living, none of the royals seek fame, it's inflicted upon them.

Upset, as I thought I would. She's been an incredible servant of the people of this country.

Been messaging my Grandma, who turns 98 at the end of the month on WhatsApp and reflected she's one of very few people to have lived with a King previously and throughout HMQ's entire reign.

Her last message

"Long live the King"

It's the continuity of the monarchy which is thread which holds this country together through the ebb and flow of change; I hope he's up to it.
