How many players still required

Is there still a rule regarding having at least 1 home grown (trained at the club) player in the match day squad? If so Apter and Holmes will be important players this season so any suggestion of getting rid or even loaning out is daft. Getting rid of any player under 21 is daft tbh, as whilst they may develop to be useful and while they don’t count towards the 22 man squad we’re much better with them than without them.

I'd be getting rid of Beesley, he's had limited chances but whenever he has had a chance he hasn't looked anything like a goal scorer.
Tharme is another one for me, far too slow for League 1, Thorniley would have left him standing from what I saw of him last season, not good enough and needs to drop 2 leagues at least.
We need to keep Jerry or it's going to be a long and painful season.

Think so.

34.11 Club Developed Players. Subject to Regulation 34 .12, for League Matches which take place after the submission of the Club’s Squad List only, each Club shall be required to nominate at least one Club Developed Player on either the Squad List, or on the Team Sheet for all League Matches (including Play Off Matches) . Where a Club does not name a Club Developed Player on either it’s Squad List or Team Sheet, the Club will only be permitted to name up to six substitutes on the Team Sheet (rather than the seven as permitted by Regulation 34 .4) .

Club Developed Player’ means a Player who has been registered with the relevant Club for a minimum of 12 months prior to the end of his Under 19 Season.

U21 players need to be developing and that is best achieved by playing meaningful football at a suitable level so loaning players out makes sense if they are not going to make the match day squad. IMO. Not many will.

Being greedy I'd like 1 more winger, an experienced striker and some additional creativity through the middle.

So if the lad from Sutton signs are we good to go?
Would personally like one more proven striker, but not a 35 year old

Update on this

We now have I think 2 good keepers (Grimmy and O'Donnell)
6 good defenders (Lyons, Pennington, Gabriel, Husband, Ekpiteta, Connolly) and 3 am not sure of (Thame, Thompson and Casey)
9 Decent Midfielders (I don't think we have any weak links here)
2 Decent Strikers (Lavery and Joseph) and 1 am not sure of (Beesley)

I'd therefore say we need a couple more defensive cover and 2 more strikers. So 4 more for me which I'd expect to be one more permanent and 3 loans.

Think we've more than enough defensive cover unless both Tharme and Casey move on. Agree on the strikers though, probably 1 loan and 1 permanent - a 3rd though if Beesley goes.

I have a suspicion if Stewart proves his fitness he’ll be also offered a deal. I’m not saying that’s my preference I just think we’ll take a close look at him whilst he trains and if Critch gets the confidence he needs on his fitness and the right deal can be agreed he’ll be added . We all know a fit Kevin Stewart would be like cheating in league one and yes I know that a seeming oxymoron, but, at a low risk agreement, it could happen and be a hidden gem.
