How many will we take to Blackburn?

Estimates please, everyone and his dog I'm speaking to seems intent on going, how many do we reckon will we be taking?

I'll copy what I put in another thread...

Hopefully we get the full end, 7k but u doubt it as rovers are selling tickets in that end but only a handful sold and tons of spaces elswhere.

I believe they tried in that end before and had to cancel due to lack of take up, so there is hope.

Loads of room everywhere though....

So it depends how many we get, I could see 4k going, maybe more if we got tickets in good time....

Pretty pointless them having people in that end, if the take-up is so poor you'd imagine they get shifted, looks only 14 sold in that stand....

It really depends on when tickets become available and how easy they are to get hold of. Lots of people will just decide on the day to go where that is possible

If it is tickets in advance and no pay on the day I would say 3000

Could definitely get a decent crowd in for it. It will be our biggest following of the season.

Just the fact its Blackburn away means we'll take a decent amount, add in the factors others have mentioned such as missing out on Preston and we should have some tasty numbers. Beat Preston and it'll be rocking.

Never seen us win at Ewood Park yet,be it League,Cup or even Lancs Cup. First game I went to was a 2-0 defeat in 79/80?, vaguely remember Hesford saving a penalty

Our first season back we filled it...7000 with a couple of hundred dotted around the ground when we scored. Season after it was more like 6500.

This season, in spite of Frankie in charge and 7 seasons of mediocrity and 61 years out of the top flight, we took about 4500.

Not amazing but not bad.

First time we heard them was when they scored.

Yes your fans are much noisier.

Strangely, I hope you beat the Plastics, most of the ones I meet haven't been on since Shearer went back to the North East.

They would be on sale if we had recieved them ,rang this morning and still not arrive .
A busy two weeks ahead no doubt.

Blackburn is a much bigger game for Preston than it is for Blackpool. I'm assuming you lot would rank them 2nd or 3rd in your derbies, depending who you ask between them and Burnley?

We didn't play each for 30 years (1980 - 2010) which has all but nullified any proper rivalry, its still a derby don't get me wrong but every Blackpool fan would put Preston, Burnley and Bolton ahead of Blackburn and even then the gap between those top 3 and Blackburn is massive IMO. I am in my 20s and would even put Fleetwood above them, the atmosphere at Fleetwood games in my lifetime have been much tastier than any Blackburn game I've ever attended.

Blackburn is also 26+ miles from Blackpool, whereas it's a short pop down the road for you lot!

I've heard they are going on sale on Monday, to season ticket holders with 13+ away days, has bought at least 12 pies and has attended at least 2 friendlies.

👍

Didn't think you were, it's just interesting comparing the relative weight of the fixture for both clubs - I imagine at one time Blackburn was a decent fixture for Blackpool but that 30 year gap without playing each other has just killed it. Whereas for you lot its the equivalent of us playing Burnley or Bolton.

3 decades without meeting is just outrageous, that'd even have an effect Preston/Blackpool. If we stayed in the same division for a while it'll rejuvenate the fixture somewhat, but it'd take a long time or something significant to happen to raise it to the level of our other derbies

It's surprising but in the last 22 years Blackpool and PNE have only been in the same league for 4 seasons - 3 seasons between 2007 and 2010, and now this current one. I suspect now that we have better owners it'll become a more regular fixture.

It's mental really, the two of three biggest gaps in our entire history of playing each other have occurred since the turn of the millennium. I think those sporadic meetings have actually done wonders to keep the spark alive in the derby though, meeting then not meeting for a while really stokes the fires as there is that build up the next time you do. As I said earlier in the thread, I'm in my 20s and we've barely played Preston in my lifetime.

You only have to look at Millwall/West Ham as proof though that too long without meeting just kills the rivalry, saw discussion of older West Ham fans despairing as the younger generation see Tottenham as their main derby. A depressing thought but who knows, say us and Fleetwood stayed in the same division for a ridiculous amount of time and never played Preston we'd be despairing at our younger fans saying Fleetwood is the big game and not Preston (just shuddered)!
