Huddersfield at Bloomfield Road 21/22

Almost certainly going to be slated for this idea...

We’re a classy set of fans. We support other clubs with crap owners because we know the damage it causes.

When we heard that fire alarm back in 2015/16 and peacefully made our way to safety and on to the pitch.... the game never restarted. How unfortunate eh ? 🤣

I think it would be a nice touch for the supporters of BFC to club together and work with Sadler and the club to buy the Huddersfield fans who visit next season a pint at Bloomfield Road to partially say sorry for the bit of match they missed and to also celebrate the role they played in what was ultimately the beginning of the end and the catalyst behind our now bright future.

I think it would be a popular gesture (when is a free drink not?) but would show how far the club has come - not just to HTFC but the wider community.

2000 fans at £3.50 a pint is £7000. Working with the club/brewery that price likely reduces - plus not everyone drinks.

I reckon it could be done easily.

Could do something a bit more cost efficient/less hassle to pull off that all of their fans appreciate, majority will all be of age beer drinkers but there will be a big portion which are either underage or don't like beer. The logistics of getting a pint to all 2,000 fans could be a bit mental as well.

I do like the idea of a good-will gesture, they unfortunately had to take the hit for our protests sake. A "hey, sorry about all that - we're alright now!" message to them would go down a treat I imagine, it's just figuring out the right way to go about it!

Cost price of beer is at least a third of that.
Didn't they all get reimbursed for ticket cost.

A free programme with a considered message from Mr Sadler inside would be appropriate.
I think something like that is much better.

Maybe even a little letter sort of thing on each seat with a message along the lines of "Bloomfield Road welcomes Huddersfield Town fans back.." with a message from BST/the board detailing we're a different club now and we hope they recognise that.

One or two small minded responses already. The programme gesture sounds like a good way to go. Wouldn't cost a lot, and as a small gesture would go a fair way to get other fans talking about Blackpool in a good way again.
A few more years going in that direction and we'll be everyone's favourite second team again😉

Don’t go all high and mighty - they slated us after that!

I went to Stockport twice in the early 90s only for the game to be called off within an hour of kick off. I demand a pre season friendly with me in a corporate box. Its the least they can do.

Where was the Football Ombudsman when I needed him?
I bet you were pretty annoyed right ?

Well I can imagine if you were a Huddersfield fan who drove himself, wife and kids down to Blackpool, stayed the night locally etc and put money into a local hotel, pubs, restaurants etc that you’d also be pretty annoyed too.

It’s not a big deal in the grand scheme of things and yeah we don’t ‘owe’ them anything. But it would be a nice gesture and a good thing to do. And if ANY* other club ends up in a similar situation the future, ourselves included, I’d quite like other fans to be supportive.

* Except PNE

They got 53 minutes of football followed by some time in the Vegas of the North.

I went to Stockport twice and saw no football at all and was then in Stockport.

Just who had the raw deal?

Tbf. I’d love a Stockport away game as I’d be able to drag the other half for a good curry.

And you’re absolutely right. There’s much worse places for them to have been in late spring than a weekend on the Gold Coast.

I still think it would be a good gesture though, to show that fans can stand together against crappy owners, the EFL or even ESL nonsense and that when it happens it’s respected, recognised and down the line reciprocated.

I’m all for tribalism, rivalries and a good derby but the Oystons transcended that and rightly so.

Would be pretty good marketing for the town and Visit Blackpool too if they could get behind it and maybe show off how good the town can be as a destination for away fans.

How many people come to Blackpool on the last game of the season (or any other for that matter) for the football , nah utterly ridiculous suggestion , they were saved from 45 mins of boredom 😃

No going high n mighty, just thi King what reflects best on us in the long run.
Always be the bigger man. Tit for tat moves nothing forward and just winds everyone up. I'm not expecting you to agree as you've already said, ' screw em' in another post.
No falling out, just difference of opinion which is fine

Didn't they get their ticket costs refunded afterwards through intervention by the EFL / FA against the Os? I do remember many of their fans had no sympathy with our predicament and were moaning that they could have finished a place higher up the table and got extra money. I don't think they deserve anything really

If the boot was on the other foot. I wouldn’t need an apology. The game was a dead rubber and it was six years ago. I’d just get on with it and understand the reasons why it happened.
To many HTFC supporters it was not a dead rubber. It was the first time in decades they had the chance, by winning, to finish in the league above Leeds (L666ds as they call their rivals). That may seem trivial to us, given our circumstances at the time.

HTFC have had a couple of Prem seasons and a relegation since then. So, it’s all water under the bridge now, forget it.

Give them all a stick of rock with 'Sorry for 2016'. printed in it. 😃
Just was going to say the same thing😂 or we could get everyones old oyston out scarves ( must be thousands tucked away) and just put a sticker on them!! "We got the Bastard out"!!! Thanks for being understanding in 2016, please keep the scarve as a thank you!!😀

They missed out finishing above Leeds. That was the real gripe.

For 48 minutes they got to watch their team play on the hallowed turf of Bloomfield Rd. We don't charge away fans enough for that privilege, maybe if they all pitched in another tenner to BFC, we can call it quits?

Pointless reimbursement in my opinion, they had the entertainment of the whole situation, got to watch a large part of the game & a weekend in Blackpool, long time ago as well, if I bump into a couple of their fans in the pub pre game & get chatting I’ll buy them a beer & have a laugh about it - v much doubt they are mentally scarred for gods sake

We should charge the ones who came to that game more, as they saw history in the making. 😂

"remember when we went to Blackpool and the bloke on the scooter came on the pitch ?" Probably the most exciting thing they've ever seen, I'd charge em extra .

I was at the game with Hereford when the fog rolled in and it was called off. Still waiting for compo 😡🚀
