Huddersfield v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 04.09.21

Williams. Early doors I was going to post that he doesn't get it. I was wrong. His balls out weren't hitting the target men but I think it's been their fault. Williams has been hitting good balls out. Our players have been slow in picking them up.

We have only committed 1 foul that half. Is our team now scared to make a tackle after the FA charges? I really don't like the modern game if this is what it's now limited to.

a bit meh this half. a goal to the good though and well taken, we've looked decent going forward until we get to that final pass then fallen apart. Huddersfield look an absolute shadow of last seasons team.

like the formation and set up we are playing today

Decent first half, we look the better team . Could be two up and we’ve still got Lavery and Wright to come off the bench . UTMP

i'm not sure if hudds are poor or if we've made them look poor - either way, they are there for the taking and we are deservedly ahead.

we certainly need to be on it after the restart. it won't take much to get their crowd upset - i can see their collective hangover on and off the pitch. time to take advantage.

That's two excellent goals that Gabriel has set up (with the one at Burnley). He's a great player imo.

I wouldn't worry too much about our lack of retaining the ball - we're still playing without a midfield really, so I'm 100% certain that will improve over the next few games. Today is all about defending well and hitting them on the counter.

I would like to see Lavery given another chance in his correct position . For me he is better running in behind than Jerry so offers us more options in a game like today....

Both Critch and Appleton have us sat with no outlet at corners. I don’t get it but I guess that’s the modern way?

He's playing more centrally than Bowler ever did. I think he must have been told to do that.
That’s what I was referring to in pre match comments. In the 10 mins Paveda was on against Blackburn he was right wing then central and then attacking down the left side allowing either of our full backs to press up on the opposite sides like Thompson and Gabriel are doing today.
