I thought it was a really exciting end to end game

Had loads of blood and thunder, a proper Boxing Day game. The sending off probably cost us, but that was taking one for the team.

I thought we looked good going forward and defended courageously at the back, same as them really. At the end of the day a point was probably a fair result. I'm not sure how that is MA's fault, we played well and at least gave it a real go even when we were down to 10 men.

The usual suspects blaming MA and trying to add a few more to their fold. plenty of positives, Carey was excellent, Madine held the line really well, Jerry was everywhere, Poveda looked tricky and tracked back much more today, Hubby had his usual good game and seamlessly moved form centre back to left back and then back again. Marv was much better too, Connolly same as Hubby, Grimmy was excellent, Thommo did well when he came on. and Lavery deserves a start if we are playing this formation.

If we can get something against the Blades then we are going into January and you never know who Santa may have lined up for the 1st January. 😉

Fully agree, but a more experienced head in the back four we could have got 3pts today. The muppets on here will want him out of course.
But deals are being set up in January to stengthen the squad. To bring a new man in now with his ''majic wand'' would be senseless.

We were lucky to be ahead and the lack of quality failed to see the game out. Overall though they were the better team and a similar pattern to most games. We are playing at 100% and snatching draws. It just isn’t good enough in the bigger picture.

I'd rather read your positivity than the posts from the naysayers. Unfortunately I'm increasingly thinking they have a point.

I reckon we are going to be 50% better in terms of quality by mid-January as a result of new additions and players returning from injury. This will be enough to keep us in the championship 👍

We had 10 men for 40 minutes.
Next game I suggest you take your I hate Appleton blinkers off and actually watch the game🤦🏻‍♂️

For a change we played well in the first half.

Thought we did ok before and after the sending off.

After the red card we could and should have been two up. But the quality of Beesley and then Carey were seriously lacking. No knock on MA for me today.

He’s had a weird tenure, where we’ve never seen what he can do on a level playing field. Suspensions, injuries and a compressed then suspended season.

We can't blame him for that sending off, although was it a change he had to make? If so was it the right one?

But we do keep having players sent off and costing us, at some point we have to at least question the staff when the team has a bad costly mistake a game.

Is he helping players develop? Be the best they can be? Setting them up in the best system? Motivating them enough?

When players are low on confidence they make mistakes. Today's wasn't really that, but bad mistakes keep happening.

Case of two points lost for me, even with 10 men created best two chances in 2nd half. Don't recall Grimmy having much to do all game, couple under the bar in first half which he and defence dealt with and second half beaten by a reasonable cross and headed goal. Some really enjoyable skill and play from Charlie, poveda, beesly, goal machines at times today and a great strike from Carey. On MA never wanted him, the sooner he clears off the better and takes his little Blackpool mentality and folded arm posture with him the better. After today I've decided not to waste time on what he does just going to carry on getting behind the team. Thanks to driver for driving and good to have a pint of mild pre match in Hulls phoenix nights equivalents

Still not been to a game this season.

After seeing that does it make me want to give up 7 hours travelling to do so?

Does it buggery!
It's very easy these days to watch every Blackpool game from the comfort of your armchair when travelling makes it too difficult.

Definitely not taking one for the team. His lack of anticipation has cost us dearly today and never let the centre forward run alongside you if you have a yard on him to get in front of him.
Defence was again poor today and has cost us. You would think this would be Appleton's strong point. Overall, two points dropped against fellow relegation candidates.

Regarding there goal, in the past Ekpiteta has won countless headers to clear our goalmouth, maybe today he was just to slow to achieve this.

We had two penalty shouts. First one, their guy clearly won the ball with a great tackle but the second one I couldn't really see what happened. Our players surrounded the ref though. Anyone any thoughts?

Watched it on the TV with my nephew, who is a Hull City fan.
Only saw one replay, but we both thought it was basically a collision, and their keeper couldn’t really have got out of the way.
We’ve seen penalties given and sendings off for less though.

cheers. The way you describe it sounds like that world cup game where the keeper stood his ground and the attacker ran in to him and the ref gave a penalty.

Yes that sounds about right. My initial instinct at the time was basically ‘he’ll never give one for that’. I don’t know where the ref was, because I didn’t even bother to look to see if he was pointing at the spot to be honest.
If he was running directly behind the run of the ball as it was played past their keeper I think it would probably have been an easy decision not to give it.
From other angles I think it might have looked more like a foul.

Admire the positivity @hertfordseasider but I'm afraid I didn't see it as you did. I felt we were second best, the manager made poor decisions from start to end, had no positivity on the sidelines and that is all MA's fault. They were there for the taking today and I just felt he made it so much harder than it needed to be.
How can you say we were second best? By far the best opportunities to win the game were ours with one on one's late on. They huffed and puffed but didn't look like scoring.

If a player nips the ball past a defender who then takes him out its a penalty, unless its the keeper. Wrong decision by the keeper.

Keeper didn't get to the ball as Lavery won it. Took him out.

To be honest I don’t think the keeper made a decision.
I’d probably need to see it again, but to me Lavery was too close to him when he put the ball past for that to happen. He just cannoned into him I think. A collision.

Nobody gives a flying if you miss me or not (especially me). However Simon Sadler is missing out on revenue from myself and others which is the point which you fail to grasp.
He's not missing out on revenue as he's selling inflated ticket prices to away fans.
Sheff Utd and Sunlan will have 3500 fans in the next 2 matches giving them a good backing when they come to Bloomfield rd giving them a lift as "fans" 🤣🤣 like you can't be bothered going.
I think that's a point that YOU have well and truly failed to grasp.

I don't get this taking one for the team.

We lost a player through a sending off, the player should, as a professional, be aware of the consequences of such a stupid tackle on the last man. If he had got through and managed to score we would have still had eleven players on the pitch to fight back. As it was we, again, had 10 players for almost half a game who appeared to fight valiantly, but in the end succumbed to the greater numbers.

I call it stupidity and letting the team down.

Can anyone remember the last time Blackpool went into the festive period and didn't lose any games . Especially when 2 games have been away from home at teams that are desperate for wins. Well if we get something against Sheffield and thats exactly what we have done . I have supported pool for 53 years and I can't remember when we had 3 games over Christmas without a defeat. In fact I am going to put this out there and see if anyone can.

I think we are at the stage where results determine whether we played well or not, at least for some fans. We really should have won it late on, which would be a tidge more than we deserved.

Pleased for Carey (yet to win me over) , his first league goal I think. And credit to MA (no really) for picking him to do exactly what he did- take shots from the edge of the box

Having checked my bank statement I still see no debits to Blackpool football club this season proving SS is missing out on revenue regardless of how you wish to twist things. A future chancellor of the exchequer in the making?

There's obviously no point in attempting a 2 way discussion with an infant.

What a wind up merchant.
Probably one of the fans who were having a pop at me for attending away games during Oyston NAPM era.

I think that says more about you than Sadler or Appleton.

You've taken your bat and ball home without making any attempt to give them a chance.

I wasn't that happy with the appointment, but I was willing to give him a chance at least.

He hasn't played for a while, should have done better really. But a knackered Beesley was closing down their player for the cross too when maybe he should have been subbed.

I was thinking the same, let's try though.
What did Santa get you?🤗

Positivity so often claimed by some on here is all very well but only if it`s without a large dollop blind delusion and a total lack of honest reality which seems all too apparent from those who mistake it for wisdom and dedicated support. .

If things are going wrong constructive criticism and patching up where needed is required to keep the holed ship afloat rather than the possible alternative of ignoring the hole ,claiming all is well and getting sunk without trace.
