I thought we played well

We were beaten by a side today who wanted it more.

Luton completely bossed the game even under pressure in the second have they looked totally composed.

Same old long ball tactics by us and did we win a header?

We huffed and puffed for 15/20 minutes in the second half but just no end product.

It’s easy to blame the manager after a defeat but he picks the team and that starting 11 today was weak very weak.

You could say we lacked in the ruthlessness department but some of our football in dreadful conditions was superb especially in the first half. Their keeper made a few worldies, we hit the post. Fine margins. 3 nil massively flattered Luton.
Bloody hell you’re the last person I’d expect any positivity from. Well, it would be between you and 62 years, so hats off to you sir.

We were put to the sword because Luton took their chances and we didn’t. Common story these days. Not all doom and gloom though. We’re still doing better than most, including us fans, expected. I’m sure Critch will sort it all out.

We’ve more than matched most teams in this division and we do play some great stuff, but getting that round shaped bag of air into the opposing goal decides games, and we’re terrible at that at the moment!

The trouble is Memphis, we were trying to score worldies. Luton just wanted to stick it in the net.

I thought big marv had a bit of a mare today. He looked really shaky under pressure. Once again we gave the ball away much too often. We need a plan b cause plan a definitely isn't working.

Totally agree. We're not ruthless enough, but we didn't play badly at all today.

...and scoring goals will continue to be a problem until Critchley gets a grip and replaces the bunch of misfits we have in attacking areas. I would single out the hapless Mitchell and Dale for the chop. Our much heralded coach doesn't seem to be improving the players individually or collectively in recent weeks.

We played badly today in horrible conditions.
We have 26 points already
We need another 24 which should be doable
Maxwell, Keogh, and Madine and a couple of others are probably this seasons fixes, but not probably long term
Some players look born to the Championship, Husband, Ecko, Grimshaw,Kesi, others are still learning..
Let,s get Chrimbo out of way and get our 24 pts

Critch was totally out thought today. From minute one they pushed three men right up front so by not allowing us to play it out short and build from there. They forced Maxwel to go either long or wide where we simply more often than not conceded possession back to them. We had a good spell in the first half where we seemed to have very good chances which I'd like to see back as to how good they were. once they got their second goal they simply got eight or nine men behind the ball and defended from the edge of their penalty area. They willingly gave up possession knowing that we neither had the ability to hurt them in the air where they pretty much won every ball or that we had the ability to play through them in the middle of the park. We are pretty much a one dimensional team at the moment in the sense of we just like to get the ball out to our wide men and hope that they can create something. They can't. Every team knows how we play and it's easy for them to nullify all of our threats.
For me, to win a game we need to score first and make the opposition change their style of play. When did we last score first in a game?

I’m sorry but that is bollocks Luton were miles better than us in every department. Their keeper made a few worldies ? He didn’t have really anything to do apart from the Wintle shot and a half arsed effort in the 2nd half.

Did you spend most of the game on the concourse? He made a decent save by his post in the first 5 minutes, the tip over from Wintle, a tip round the post from Dale's header, a great save from a shot from Owen that Mitchell should have scored from the rebound that was deflected onto the post, and that's just the first half.

Half the board thinks we're trying to walk it in while the other half think we're going long.

It doesn't add up.

It was a rerun of Huddersfield at home for me. The score flattered them, yes their keeper made 2 cracking saves and we basically missed an open net with Mitchell. That said they had three giant CBS and 2 full backs and we had Jerry up there on his own at home. Big mistake I’m afraid Neil.

We’ve struggled against most big physical sides we’ve played against, Huddersfield, Cardiff, Coventry, and today.

The footballing teams who play it on the deck more Fulham, Blackburn, WBA, Bournemouth etc, we’ve done well against.

It’s not just a striker and creative midfielder we need in January a couple of 6 foot 4 centre backs wouldn’t go a miss.

I see it the same way as yourself. The tool behind me who boo'd the team constantly perhaps not. All about opinions but I'm defo half glass full like yourself

The overall play is good and we do mix it up but we need better wingers and another target man if we are going to carry on playing the same way.

I thought we were superb first half, played some lovely football and we just missed out on putting the ball in the back of the net a few times. Luton keeper made two great saves and one of Mitchell's shots from close range during a scramble took a lucky deflection (for them) off the back of a Luton player's ankle and it hit the post rather than going in. Second half was pretty dire to be fair, can't remember a single chance if I'm honest except for a few poor shots from various players that flew over the bar from outside the box.

None of their goals came from this apparent domination from Luton some people witnessed, I thought Luton looked very poor and were only superior in their height and physicality. Similar to the Birmingham game I thought we were much the better footballing side but didn't take our chances in the first half and subsequently got punished for it - we definitely weren't outplayed.

We passed it well and had some good half chances, really need to get our shooting boots on and cut out mistakes at the back, we haven't made many but the change in keeper worked against us.

On another day we could easily have got a positive result.

But we must be far more clinical and better at crossing and final balls.

Fair comments above. Considering the conditions we actually played some nice stuff and a few good chances. Unfortunately to much passing instead of getting it up there we have the pace so use it and as usual bad decision making. Another day without gale force winds we could have won that. I do wish we'd get some bigger stronger players though.
