Ian Evatt

Should have stayed and cut his teeth at Barrow, less expectation on his first season in League football there.

Instead he took on the poisoned chalice that is Bolton, whose fans were expecting to bounce straight back up walking the league.

Evo is a legend, but he made a terrible choice of clubs. I wish him all the very best in his managerial career, but I cant wish Bolton anything but the worst.

I see the Fonz has found his place on the bench after early season promise and Baptiste has been largely awful.

BFC legend.said it at the time he should of stayed at Barrow another season or two and finish what he started. I see Doyle is also very quiet this season, possibly another bullet dodged on big money.

In football terms, it was actually a good choice of club. Only like Critchley coming to Blackpool. Bolton had sorted themselves out (to a lesser degree than us and without the financial clout) and a bit like when Bowyer got us back up at the first time of asking, I think any manager worth his salt and with the players he brought in, should have been launching a play off push at the very least.

After last night's 1-1 draw with the Shrimps.
Sadly Evo needs to wake up to the fact League Two is not for the purists.

"I don't want my team to be like that" Bolton boss Ian Evatt wants referees to be stronger and criticises Morecambe's tactics, following their 1-1 draw."

Has he been potted yet?
I noticed they were winning until they went down to 10 men.
Can’t understand the dogs abuse a once Pool legend gets off some fans on here I really can’t.

Get real. Evatt should have stayed at Barrow where he was a success. Bolton were founder members of the league, they should not be wiped off any map.
👍 1966
All this crap about Evo shouldn’t have gone there etc.
It was a massive step for him regarding club size and potential
Once again (with hindsight) posters coming on here saying the are glad he went to Bolton because they didn’t want him here.
Just imagine if he had been successful and they were hovering around promotion:-

“I always knew he would be a good manager”
“Always wanted him to come here”
“ Just shows the lack of ambition here. What a huge mistake not getting him”
Etc, Etc, Etc.

Some of the posters on here are hilarious at times. Still it keeps us amused during lockdown!

BFC legend. Inexperienced as a Manager, much like NC ... so a transformation of fortunes is going to take time.

Taking the Bolton job was a punt for both parties but certainly one he couldn't turn down.

Some managers are crap, until they aren't. Don't like the fella but Moyes seems to have turned WH's fortunes around, whilst Fat Sam isn't living up to his 'genius' at WB.

has Evo worked as a number two before? Maybe a stint as an assistant at a higher level than Barrow might be good progression and learning for him especially under an experienced manager would be ideal.

I think Bolton will be a bit like us with Critchley this season. No fans means no matchday pressures and therefore they've almost had a free hit season. They won't pot him unless next season starts disastrously and I think Evo will have sussed out that league by then,

Good win tonight by Bolton I see away at Mansfield, up to 11th just 5 points off a play off place now.
So much for Evo being on the brink of being potted he’ll be up for MOM at this rate.
They stuck with him and he’s turning it around. 👍

Tbf being able to put together the squad they have in League 2 they should be doing pretty well. Good luck to the guy though. Hopefully they miss out in the play off final playing fantastic football for the next couple of seasons and he, Gilks and Baptiste find themselves headhunted by a team like Reading, Watford or Bristol City.
