If England were to win the Euros.

I have always dreamt of seeing England win the Euros or the World Cup but never actually considered of how it would make me feel. Would I be buzzing for months or would it be just 24 hours or so and then forget about it?

When Blackpool got promoted (especially to the Premier League) there was a buzz for ages and huge anticipation for the fixtures and the new season ahead.

So my question is - If England actually go on and win this thing then would it make your top 3 footballing moments of all time?

Unless of course you were old enough to remember 66!

I think winning a trophy like that, has less longevity than a promotion season. Mainly because you spend the whole summer debating what’s about to come in the brave new world.
Ive nothing to compare of course as I’ve never seen us win a big cup (LDV doesn’t count really) nor England win anything.

For me England winning a major tournament would be as good as Blackpool in the Prem, if not better. The country needs something like this. The division of our two god awful lead political parties with one leading us through a shambolic Brexit process and then the certain aspects of COVID handling which we just absolutely unacceptable. For me, it's bigger than football and hopefully the pressure doesn't get to the players.

Not being flippant but if we win this, it'll be as close to ticking off a sporting bucket list I could probably get.

Blackpool in the top flight, winning the ashes and cricket world cup, rugby union world cup, brilliant Olympians and athletes, cyclists, swimmers, boxers and so on.

We've won the lot apart from a major tournament in my favourite sport.

We win this and the world can stop turning and I'd die happy

Come on England!

Early start Mr B!

I'd be happy for a couple of days then I'll carry on.

Blackpool means 1000x more to me.

I would be happy for a day or so but Blackpool
means far more to me. A win over a big club in the Championship will have me celebrating until the next match and then reminiscing for weeks, months or years depending who it is. Our successes at Wembley and wins over the likes of Liverpool in the Prem and Nob End will last forever.

Personally it don’t mean that much to me, I’d enjoy the moment but I’d know that the next big win for England would be another 55 years away in 2076, about the same time the Brexit Benefits kick in according to Rees-Mogg!

Mind you if we did win it might stop having to hear “Football’s Coming Home” for a bit, so there’s an incentive!

I'm still unconvinced it will happen but yes, it would. I'm desperate to see England win a major tournament, the country would get a huge lift, the scenes ,whilst in the current climate may not be acceptable to some, would be huge. For now, one game at a time, I still smart from looking past Iceland 5yrs ago.

When we beat Cardiff all those years ago I told my then wife that it meant more to me than the day I married her

Given it cost me £27k in a divorce seems it was true

If England won the Euros it would mean more than the day I married her in hindsight too, but in reality it'll feel the same as Mo Farah at the Olympics. Short lived, but a nice memory

I have a bucket list of things I want to see before I take the big sleep:

1. Blackpool in the Prem - Seen (currently slated for a return in 2023🍊)
2. England to win the rugby world cup - Seen
3. An English person to win Wimbledon - Close (British)
4. An Englishman to win the Tour-de-France - Seen
5. England to win the Euros - Not seen (currently in progress😃)
6. England to win the World cup - Not seen (Provisionally booked for 2022🤣)

That being said, I'm still on a high from Wembley and that will keep going as I and many others go to the games week in week out. England winning a major tournament will probably peter out after a week or two because I dont get to see England as often.

I'm too worn down by always expecting the shittiest end of the stick when it comes to England. I'm not sure how I'd react if a tournament didn't end in glorious failure or implosion.

For those that follow like a club side, home and away, it'd be massive. Bigger than I would imagine anything you can experience at club level. Particularly a World Cup win.

It was fantastic to watch England beat West Germany on TV in 1966, but I put club before country, so my top footballing moments of all time will always involve The Mighty Pool.

Editing.
For example, even if England win the Euro's this year, my outstanding footballing moment of this year was the Oxford home playoff semi final and the football we played from 1-0 down to leading 2-1.

It would be immense, but a real shame that it'd happen during a COVID summer after 55 years of hurt. Same with Blackpool getting promoted back to the Championship.

This has the potential to be epic if we win, given the timing with impending restriction lifting. The collective joy and energy could be like nothing that’s gone before,

Me too, worn down. Sort of stopped caring at some point in the past. Which is a shame, I'm trying to rekindle it, but struggling. It's why I want to see us playing good positive football, it would help to break through my feelings of disdain, I think.

No,Blackpool will always fill the top three places, but England winning the Euros would make me a mighty proud Englishman, not to mention the massive impact it would have on English football.

Blackpool FC mean way more to me than England. I would also feel some regret that proper World class players, Shearer, Lineker, Barnes, Seaman, Shilton, Waddle, Hoddle, Beckham etc etc never won anything. This team is nowhere near as good as them. Yet have a real chance.

been here before. Some people just don't have any pride or passion for their country when it comes to football. Once again, amazing how many fair weather England fans are now commenting.

I’d be buzzing. We haven’t won any major international tournament in my lifetime.
What’s not to like 👍
Wouldn’t beat us getting into the Prem though, but it would be up there in my top 5.

Same at club level. When there's some success the newly self appointed legacy fans start popping up, and all of a sudden theres a bun fight on ticket loyalty.

Not even my top 10

Whens the draw for the next round anyway? Hopefully it'll be Egypt away because the punning opportunities will be massive, although its a pharold way to fly out to.

You cant beat the good old football pyramid.
