If it is only 2.5million for Jerry, can I have my season ticket money back?

We actually spend fees on several players every season. This notion is a complete myth.

Since Sadler has taken over we have spent fees on-

2020: Jerry Yates, Bez Lubala, Daniel Gretarsson, CJ Hamilton

2021: Sonny Carey, Jordan Gabriel, Owen Dale, Jake Beesley, Olliver Casey, Doug Tharme

2022: Dom Thompson, Andy Lyons, Callum Wright

2023: Oliver Norburn, ????, ????

I'll be the first person to say that not all those transfer have panned out or were money well spent, but it's clear to see that Sadler does indeed spend money, and that's not including the increased wage budget that the club has now to bring in quality free agents or even the budget that the academy now has to sign youth players from other club.

Finances aren't as simple as simple as getting a transfer fee and immediately putting it into the "spend on transfer pile".
Large amount of money spent on loan fees last season also. The belief by some that SS does not spend money is risible.

Can we introduce an IQ test before allowing people onto this website?

Read the annual accounts. Understand how football financing works. It’s all there in black and white - nothing hidden, all very transparent.

If you cannot understand the information within the accounts please stop before posting about finances or SS input within?

Stick to posting about favourite goal, kit colours or favourite chant……

I despair
With you on this one, too many who think Football Manager is reality. We've had awful owners in the past, look at the bullet we dodged up the road. Not to mention a long list of unscrupulous new owners buying clubs. I'm not saying we should sit on our hands and say nothing if something is genuinely an issue but selling a player, who has served us brilliantly, for over £2M profit, is what will make this club more sustainable and there for future generations to support.

If we start reading in the accounts that SS has lent money to another of his companies or has taken a massive dividend from the accounts then we can be concerned at his steward ship

Otherwise all monies received are reinvested. They’re in the club. They’re being spent on something to benefit the club, even if that’s not directly a player purchase.

Read the accounts or ask someone to explain them to you and where the Critch / Bowler / Tony Weston etc money has gone

Anybody would take a ten-fold return on an investment that could be worthless in the future. Its called business, buy low and sell high. Sometimes the hardest decision is when to sell and like the stockmarket, no-one ever tells you when the best time to sell is.

Simon Sadler hasn't become a multi-millionaire without making numerous financial and business decisions throughout his life. No doubt he's got some wrong along the way, as we all have.

None of us has any idea on what Jerry's selling price will be, it may not be what we all would hope for but at the moment all this news about the price is pure speculation. If we can buy a new player with the profit and sell him down the line for similar thats good business for where our club is at this moment.

90% of messages on this board are made up, anti SS or just stupid people liking to be heard. One day SS will have had enough of the very small minority who vocalise rubbish, he will sell or just shut us down. We will then all know who is to blame....

If you don't know anything, why make it up? Whatever the fee. JY deserves a move like this - thanks Jerry for your efforts and love for BFC!

👏👏👏👏👏

It’s likely his medical will be today. I wonder if it’ll be as thorough as ours ? No doubt he’ll sail through it though.

Maybe Swansea have offered cash and a player deal ?

I haven’t read all the posts on this subject. But of all the ones I’ve read I haven’t seen any who begrudges Jerry his move up to the championship and a vast improvement in salary. The main bone of contention seems to be the reported fee, I say reported because as has been said, we don’t actually know what it is. Until we get a reasonably accurate figure this speculation will continue. Most posters are more incensed with thinking we haven’t received enough for him. If the most reported figure of £2.5 million is correct I don’t think we have either, but we have to bear in mind, what we think he’s worth and what other clubs think he’s worth could differ greatly. We can only hope we find another Jerry lurking about and we spot him under the radar. Not easy I know, but if we do and he scores 20+ this season, whilst we will not forget Jerry’s contribution to our cause all this fuss will be yesterdays news. Here’s hoping 🤞

Well you’re making up the Norburn fee in your head as it was undisclosed. We made 6 million (reported) from the sale of Bowler & compensation of Critchley. 1.4 million was definitely reinvested through Thompson & Wright.. 300k for Lyons. So we’ve spent 1.7 million of a reported 6 million (plus whatever we get from Yates). It’s hardly substantial investment, is it?
Don't forget Wright was sold and much of that may have been recovered.

But also Bowler coming back might not have been cheap considering how much Olympiacos paid Forest for a full season and only got half.

Then the amount of loans we had may have taken a bit more.

Ultimately we don't know much is spent only that when the accounts are released SS is having still to put money in to keep us breaking even, although we're aiming to be relatively self sufficient.

We also have the development squad which isn't free. An important part of the long term plan.

Personally I trust SS as we haven't seen him take anything out, it might not be as simple as x amount in and then x amount out in an obvious traceable way, straight away.

ffs.

If it’s 2.5 million I will be really annoyed at SS but nothing would make me hand my season ticket back or not go to the games. I’m itching to get back to Bloomfield. I would fully expect him to make a statement and sign a decent replacement knowing fans are going to be on his back after this. UTMP

If SS took over the club believing he would be able to run it in a profitable way then he was badly advised. Surely, the amount of football clubs who run at a profit is very, very, VERY few?

Of course development squads cost money, but that’s apart of a football club. He decided to put himself in this situation? Of course he’s going to have to put money, the club was in rack and ruin - but, again, he knew that.

COVID wasn’t ideal, I understand that. But if he’s hoping to, at some point, to never have to touch his own bank account in order to run an established football club then he is pissing into the wind.

If the fee is 2.5m, then it obviously is disappointing but there’s no clear evidence it’s that way, so we can only speculate.

With that being said, I don’t get why people have an issue with the fee being ‘undisclosed’ - all clubs declare fees as undisclosed, and if we declared all fees in the public domain it’s a leverage killer in future negotiations.

I don't think that's the case, just that we will be as sustainable as possible.

The idea is, or should be, to grow the club so we can spend more within our means relatively.

All I've said is its probably not as clear cut as x amount in and a guesstimate at x amount spent, no one really knows.

Only the accounts will tell us and last time he was putting money in so that we 'made a small profit'.

I've said before I would like that initial boost let's call it. Where say he puts 5m in, so we can get some real good players and then develop them etc over time, sell some etc and be further along the selling player model quicker. But it's easy for me to say how to spend someone else's money.

Let's see what we bring in with the money we have.

This is the start of the model that we are taking as a football club and will slowly have to progress over years if not decades.

Buy for 0-500k, sell for 2/3/4 million. If we can do that as seen with Jerry and Bowler then hopefully we can progress to say a Millwall? Luton before they went up level of spending.

Any player that doesn’t cut the mustard just try and recoup the transfer fee as best you can eg Wright.

500k-1 Million then sell for 5/6/7 million etc. Hopefully maintain that and try and stay at least championship level as well as spending money in a training ground and east stand.

I think most of us would be happy with that level.

Talking of which Wizz is there no way of letting a mate use your ticket anymore? Says from one device only, presume to stop this, which is harsh me thinks.
What happens if I take a screenshot of the ST and forward it on? I genuinely don't know.

Well it is when you factor in circa £6-8m losses through relegation and the costs associated with the development with our facilities. We could always go back to the Oyston days of loans and freebies 🤦‍♂️

Viktor Gyokeres from Coventry to Sporting Lisbon for 20 million!

Swansea wanting 12.5 million for joel Piroe.

Little old pathetic Blackpool giving away JY9 for peanuts (In today's market!)
No wonder we get bent over every single time with this small club mentality!

I am sure we have got the best deal for JY that we are being offered, we wouldn’t turn down higher to accept less.
