I'm alright Jack f*** everyone else

You really are an insensitive person aren't you. Try going to a match with someone with learning difficulties or autism, and when you get there, the jobsworth steward won't let you move despite there being two dozen pissed up fans around your seat. And the person with you is just getting stressed and upset because they don't want a conflict or an argument. This has happened to me regularly, so much so that now before an away game I contact the club's disability officer and get in writing that we can move somewhere if the seat isn't appropriate. And you wouldn't believe how many times they've actually insisted on reading the note before letting us move.
I'm sure if you have circumstances like that the away club would help you out

That’s not Phil’s fault though TT. Like you, he goes to a game and manages his own family arrangements.

Ultimately there will be all sorts of individuals with special or unique requirements and for whom a football match experience can be challenging.

You’ve done the right thing and sought to manage your Matchday so that you can both enjoy it. That sounds like a common sense approach to me 👍

He's just a cnut. End of.
What a ridiculous thing to say

I agree with him on some things, completely disagree with him on others; doesn't make him (or me for that matter) a **.

Honestly, my kids have grown up following Blackpool home and away, I've never had a problem with taking responsibility and sitting where they could see, moving if they couldn't, allowing them to stand on seats. As they got older I've askef them to be aware of who is around them.

There's been times when it's been very rowdy, stewards wading in etc and I've made sure they are fine.

At no point have I expected anyone to change how they behave because I've got my kids with me; it's their day out too and it shouldn't be spoilt because I choose to take my kids to a match.

Honestly, the selfishness is those wanting a sterile atmosphere, stay sat down and moaning about how much they've paid to watch the crap on show, how much their plastic bottle of Fanta was and whether the pie came with ketchup or brown sauce; rather than just going with the atmosphere, joining in the singing for 100 minutes and forgetting everything else in the world.

They should really bring back terrecing to get th standers in one area. Cant be expecting pensioners to be standing all game and they shouldnt have to be searching out a seat where they can actuallly sit. Everyone should just sit down untill they bring back standing areas. Stadiums are all-seater at the moment....the clue is in the name.

Thats just tough luck they will have to find other seats

Why are people so precious about sitting in their allocated seat

Its not the fcuking Opera
If its a sell out someone somewhere who want to sit with friends and family will not be able to. People without friends and family won't care.

That might work with Preston fans, but every other team has a following that likes to stand and get involved, not just spectate.

Last season there was a game where fans were moved to the corner in the SE ,because there were too many in the away end . As this normally does not happen I am sure those seats could be used for people with obvious problems.

We really don't. The overwhelming majority stand up. Over 90%.

The demographic has changed substantially since covid.

That's fair enough Wiz and certainly one that I will bow to your superior knowledge, I've not been to an away game for ages and you've not missed one since Yeovil at Wembley - how is Plumbs these days ? :)

One good thing about this daft thread is that I didn't even know when we were playing Huddersfield and now see that it's on a Sunday and I'm considering coming out of retirement for it.

Interesting articles on Burnley club site and Lancashire post they have started banning fans for persistent standing for two weeks ,sorry can’t do links .

Four of us elderly fans made it to the front at Huddersfield to enable us to sit down only to find that when we were threatening the goal at our end everyone stood up, we all got to our feet so we could see but our view was obscured and I missed both Gerry and Lavery's goal. If you complain you get dogs abuse.
After many years of going to away games I am sadly considering just attending home games in future either that or wind up getting locked for dragging some gobshite over his seat and chinning him in the process.

Its easy to be honest just get in the ground early and sit at the front away from the home fans

Simples....
If only it was that simple Phil.
Unfortunately if you are not in a wheelchair you have to sit in the seat you are given.
I've witnessed it at quite a few clubs.
I've watched some disabled struggle up steps and stewards watching them.
I've appealed but it is the usual answer.
I'm sure clubs can designate certain seated areas for able bodied disabled.

On reading the thread on Huddersfield tickets I am really embarrassed and ashamed by the comments of some.
The SLO and the club are working hard to ensure that our disabled (not in a wheelchair) and our older fans not as steady on their feet anymore can attend and sit to watch away matches ie the first couple of rows, or in this case a section for people WHO DEED TO SIT. I'm aware of one 70 plus supporter who over the years travelled to most away matches now doesn't go as his health will no longer allow him to stand for 90 minutes. I'm sure we all in our families have relatives who struggle with their health??
Come on Blackpool fans show some compassion over recent years we have stood together for what's right, let's not become I'm alright f*** everyone else!!
It's called respect. Society including many of ours don't have it for the elderly.

I probably been to about 500 away games and I've probably sat in the seat I've been given about 10 times if that

In my eyes there needs to be designated standing/sitting areas in the away allocation. As this thread has made abundantly clear there are those who find standing to be sacrosanct and while I do think it contributes hugely to the atmosphere those who simply do not want/are unable to stand should also be accommodated after having paid for a ticket.

I have my doubts that many would adhere to designated sitting/standing allocation but it should at least be given a shot.

I think the fact you missed the goals was aa because you were at the wrong stadium...

BTW you can't have been right at the front or you would have been the fans furthest forward with no one blocking you?

Also most fans missed the goals somewhat as you couldn't see the goal line anywhere I don't think.

There will be quite alot of supporters who would rather sit but stand because those in front of them are also standing, and if they didnt stand themselves they wouldnt be able to see the game.

Can’t imagine why you would be so invested in trying to fuck up our atmosphere. Knobber

Get yourself down there. You'll love it, sitting or standing. Just got myself an advance return from Morley for £3.80. Cheaper than parking near the ground.

Yes, with it being on a Sunday, I really have no excuse not to go.

Just considering my own logistics now but £3.80 can't be bad Wiz, enjoy.

Two things here... Firstly, the away club does not always help out. Four example, Huddersfield advice is "try to get an aisle seat" and that's it. So we won't be going. Other clubs go the extra mile. Swansea even offered to meet us outside the ground and take us in to make sure we were happy.
So you can't just assume. We tend to not bother going to games that we know are going to be rammed full and harder to get a decent seat.

But your second point is again insensitive. People aren't necessarily 'just being awkward' - they want seating that is appropriate for them. Their needs are different to yours. You have no more right to a seat that suits your needs than they do.

No some people are definitely just being awkward I've seen it many times

I’m a little bit shocked at the lack of any empathy for our less mobile fans. There doesn’t seem to be much ‘working with them’ on a fan level.

There maybe a time when any one of us can‘t stand for 90 minutes and it maybe sooner than we think

Be nice to stop the them versus us attitude and work with them a bit more maybe, or at least not immediately shun any idea that helps them out a little.

I think people are tying to help

What we don't want to see again is the situation on Saturday of the elderly lady from the BSA coach sitting in her seat next to the Burnley knobs, she ended up having a panic attack

People are trying to help by giving sensible advice such as "sit where you feel safe" or "get into the ground earlier" or "try and get a seat on the front away from the more passionate fans"

Its just common sense to be honest 🤷

Or at all. Again it’s just nitpicking and arguments all the time instead of just accepting that some people can’t stand. Nothing constructive.
I'm sure some can stand for 10, 20 mins have a rest during a break of play etc. That way you're not stood up for ages.

Those who really can't stand at all, for which there can't be many need to go to the front or side thats away from their home fans. Like Burnley the right side was the place as it was quieter.

I’m just getting bored of our fans having a go at each other from entrenched positions.

The sit down all the time brigade and the do what we want brigade are both Nobheads in equal measure. There is a happy medium somewhere but nobody is willing to find it and just trade cheap insults instead.

You’re basically all a bunch of twats 👍🏻
