I'm surprised we haven't signed

Another couple of defensive players yet

Probably a left wingback and a big centre half short for how big Mick likes to play

Could be a busy night

Imagine if this was 13 years ago under Tony Parkes and a player like Adam was signed.

That’s what we need but we appear to be dealing in freebies. I don’t expect anyone else now as it would need to be a starter. Our squad is chock full of mediocre players.

Not surprised by the lack of LWB. We have 3 on the books already in Garbutt, Thompson and Lyons.

Expect Lyons and Gabriel will be our wing backs, Just need to keep them both fit for 19 games.

Lyons is a RB/RWB who can play LB/LWB which is different to being an out and out player for the position.

Although I agree that Lyons and Gabriel will end up being the 2 👍

A midfielder and a centre forward short still…

But it’ll be trying to get rid before we can bring in I suspect.

We need and have done all season another option to Madine.

Granted Jake Beesley was tried as a winger but he’s not the 4th striker we need.
Yeah maybe, just think Mick will want more of what he knows so maybe a long throw expert as well

Agree; and DJ Campbell and Brett Ormerod. They were important loans. But then we had signed Paul Dickov the year before - also astute. In both of those pre-Holloway seasons we had struggled in the Championship. I feel we have been in a similar position this time around. However, if we can stay up I think we are starting to build a decent team. Is it good enough to keep us up this season? The jury's out for me.

It feels like what can be done this month has already been done. Swapped some ineffective loans out and picked up some experienced frees. And changed manager. So we'll just have to see how it goes. On our budget and in this situation, probably the best we could hope for.

A viable alternative to Gary Madine wouldn't have gone amiss. Someone like Uche Ikpeazu who won't win points for aesthetics but could chip in and be a battering ram at both ends of the pitch.

Absolutely spot on
But mick need to be ruthless and take all the long term injured players out of the 25
Possibly send them to national league teams if they get fit before the end of the season ( I think this is possible)

Agree, but still held out hope that Jake may have returned in the same vein of from he showed when we played Brum. at home last season
Is he injured?

Expect we have a few ‘irons in the fire’, if any of them develop into a deal we shall see! Hard to do business at this time of year, as clubs all want to strengthen and don’t want to lose good players! Can be a bit of a stalemate

I don't think you can ever be truly ITK outside the inner sanctum of the BFC Board but let's just hope I'm right and that I do know a bit more than @BISONS. 👍
I’m not ITK but I’m just looking at the MO from Sadler since Jan 22. The last 3 windows have been average to non existent. That’s why we are where we are. He couldn’t keep hold of NC and failed almost completely to support Appleton.

We are short in a couple of areas and there is 9 hrs to put it right. I don’t see any players coming in better than what we have as they cost money. Let’s hope you’re guess work is right but I wouldn’t hold your breath.

I think that's fair enough mate, but I'm thinking for big Mick to take the job he way have got some assurances that he could get in the players he wanted

Sill short in a couple of positions to be honest

I’d guess Mick discussed transfers at interview and I reckon he’s ok with what he’s got. Yes he’d probably like a couple more, all managers would, but he’ll cope

I’d agree with this.
The type of signings Oyston used to make. Freebies, loans, journeymen with a long history of injuries.
We used to give him grief for it, now we’re doing the same all over again. Either the transfer plan is shït, or we need better scouting and actually spend some dosh. Hopefully the duo from Coventry can help. They better use some of that Bowler cash stockpile or even big Mick won’t be able to save us from the drop.

Of course bringing 2 players in that aren't as good as what we have would be even more disappointing than not signing anyone.
Like I say I don't know who we are bringing in and I'm just speculating that two are on the way and presumably some departures as a consequence.

I think it's pretty obvious that the money is being very tightly controlled at the moment, I think we sometimes underestimate the damage the Covid season(s) did to clubs like ours, there must have been quite a bit of propping up financially during those times, perhaps we are seeing the results of that now?

It would be great if we could sign two loan players of the calibre of Charlie Adam & DJ Campbell (2009 versions).

I'm surprised that Owen Dale hasn't been signed by Portsmouth and Virtue for Lincoln.

While on the subject of Lincoln they have signed Luke Plange on loan from Crystal Palace. A decent signing for them he looked useful last season for Derby County.

Virtue injured.

McCarthy has said no more loans. I think it was just before he said what a great guy Richard O'Donnell was. 😃

Money should be there if the players can be identified and convinced to join.

However, a club in the relegation zone and a manager with a contract until the end of the season doesn't exactly sound too appealing though does it? I think it is more a case of patching it up until the end of the season now.

TBF to Beesley he came back after a long layoff and has had a few games, some out of position.

We probably need to strengthenin that position, but too early to say what he's actually capable of yet.

We've signed players before who started slow and take a run of games and confidence to get going. Not sure he'll be getting that in the vital 19 games though.

Lets wait and see what the rest of the day brings. Couple of posters seem confident that there are bodies arriving and I'm happy to go with them for now.
We’ll see. I’d be very surprised.

We’ll see. Not sure how you can speculate, you mean guess? The fact that everyone and their dog can see we need to add in midfield and up top doesn’t mean it’ll be forthcoming. Recent actions would suggest we’re going with what we have. IMO it’ll be a valiant relegation if that’s the case.

Hang about a minute, less than a week ago this was the best squad since:

Holloway failed to get us promoted back to the Prem
Options all over the place
No excuses for big Mick to be honest

Now we're still short in a couple of key positions?! This is bad news...
Fast thinking, Brilliant Ben pulled the plug on the fax machine to save on the electricity bill within seconds of reading that post thinking we were safe?!

The master does it again.

A faint to positivity, gets the masses to lean in - bagging what’ll be nearly a tonne in the process.

Whilst simultaneously recoiling to line up an 11pm haymaker, all in one post.

You can only salute the strings he has over this board.

Chapeau, young man. Some of the best entertainment on here. 👍
