Incompetent referees!

Not just at bloomers, but Sunderland pen ridiculous dithering & wrong.
See Gavin Ward at it again, worse than Mason?
Worst at bloomers tho after watching ITV highlights!
Are they still sponsored by Specsavers or have they binned them as bad publicity? 🤣

Refs are good or bad, but they average out over a season. Our dismal displays and naive defending have nothing to do with bad refs.

one absolute shocker of a decision or lack of one today, but it wasn't just that which annoyed me. They seemed to get all the 50-50 decisions but not only that he just allowed their players to stroll around the pitch without once telling them to get a move on. They were winning 4-1 and still time wasting because they knew he'd say nowt. On one occasion he allowed their player to just walk 30 yards or so to take a corner without once telling him to get a move on and on another occasion the ref was making his own way into a position without noticing that their player was just ambling over to take a corner on the the other side. Little things i know and they wouldn't have made any difference but when you are getting well beat the smallest things can frustrate the life out of you.

I hate VAR, but I feel if we'd had it today we would of won. Yes they were better than us second half, but a couple of poor decisions, which would have been overturned in the first half would of put us in the ascendancy. I agree that things do even themselves out, but the ref had a shocker.

When do they even themselves out again? Really looking forward to those games with red cards for them, penalties for us etc.

What have we had, 1 homer against QPR and a tech failure at Huddersfield.

He watched one of their players deliberately kick the ball away 20 yards, then allowed the same player to stand a foot away while we tried to take the kick. Useless.

Totally agree, officials were really poor today. Noticed Coventry's time wasting and the ref did absolutely nothing about it. Also thought they should have had at least one red card. How many times this season have we had players sent off by referees for very similar offences. There's no consistency whatsoever by these officials. That said, it was a poor showing from us on the back of a 6-1 win last Tuesday. We should have at least made a fight of it. Coventry were nothing special and I hate to say it but they are no Burnley for sure. We could have at least taken the game to them.

The review of the entire Premier season’s contentious decisions produced a very different looking final table. The controversial calls didn’t average out at all. And we wouldn’t have been relegated nor would Utd have won the league. It demonstrated clear bias towards the ‘bigger’ clubs.

It needs reporting all these poor decisions. Yates is an absolute blatant penalty, he was about to tap it in why would he just suddenly fall over. The Connolly incident it's a red all day long. The fact he's seen it and only booked him for lashing out at our player when it's violent conduct.

Just seen the post match comments from the managers. They both said Gorkyres should have gone and Blackpool should have had two penalties.

'We got away with it there', said Robins.

The only one who thinks otherwise is the bastard in the black.
Wiz can you remember when it was that Ben Mansford in the Armfield slated the Championship refs and said he was putting all his hopes in the new Refs supremo …I know Lee Charles recorded it….just wondered if it had done the rounds between the refs….it wouldn’t endear us to them I don’t think…

Apparently Sue Smith on Sky who had the benefit of replays said Coventry should have had at least 1 red card and Pool 2 penalties.

I wasn’t at the match yesterday but reading this thread it appears it was a bad (not just poor) referee.
Poor refereeing has always been in the game and always will be regardless of what technology they introduce.
The last thing we want is for a game to be stop/start while every single decision is reviewed but what also needs to be done is for players to wind their necks in and not challenge or raise their hands in disgust when they get a decision they don’t like. Even supporters won’t accept blatantly obvious decisions if they go against their own team.
The Utd / Fulham game was full of them. Even when the refs decisions were spot on there were players who still complained.
Then the likes of Mitrovic in the refs face (and putting his hands on him) because he didn’t like the blatant penalty that was given. As well as a 3 match ban they should add an extra 2 for touching the ref.
Yes, refs do get it wrong but they are only human and, don’t forget, they are making instant decisions without the benefit of hindsight.
They get slagged off for the slightest mistake yet not the slightest plaudit if they have a cracking game
One of the most thankless jobs ever.

Don't forget the linesman too, another with a view on it and still nothing done.

Even the linesman furthest away had a view.

Not a word in the refs ear to say that was a foul....

All together to get decisions badly wrong is a joke but not surprising.

They'd have seen it if it was us doing it.

And Dickie would have been shown a red on Tues. Thinknthe ref only kept him on because of the scoreline however he put 2 tackles in on Jerry which clearly hurt Jerry.
Whilst there's a lot of 💩 surrounding VAR in some situations it's the fairest option.
Ref to MM re: 2nd pen Yates kicked the ground.
Me after watching it now half a dozen times -it's a clear push on Jerry from behind.

Was thinking about that arm on Connolly last night.
Cov almost got away with it a few years ago in virtually the same position.
Ref and liner didn't see it but in the days when the 4th official was not meant to get involved in the game decisions the 4th alerted the ref who paused play. Spoke with the 4th official then walked up to the liner and got him to nod and point out Kevin Kyle who received a straight red.
Thus avoiding dropping the 4th official in the mire but ensuring that he correct decision and justice was served.

The ref at Sunderland was local whistler Scott Oldham, I'm afraid I'm with you the decision was very poor, never a pen.

The ref made a crucial error in our game, that was a blatant red for Gyokere's, that and the blatant pen and red card after it on Jerry ended up costing us the game for me.

The ref yesterday was well placed to see Connolly being hit, he obviously watched it as he gave the free kick, I just don't why he didn't give him

a red card. The only legitimate reason I can think of is maybe the referee thought the Coventry player was retaliating to something that

Connolly had done before the punch.

Paolo Di Canio got 11 matches for pushing Paul Alcock back in the day, but the FA are too scared of clubs to impose that kind of ban.

That isn't an option.

Just seen the tv highlights.

The ref was an absolute disgrace. Yes, Coventry were better, but they should have had ten men and we should have had a second pen.

No wonder our heads dropped.

That isn't an option.

It may not be an option, but the referee must have thought it was a reaction to something and decided to book one player rather than send both

both players off. Otherwise, the reason is that the referee had a deliberate bias against Blackpool and choose to ignore the rules.

I thought it was a clear red card, I also thought it was a nailed-on second penalty. It also doesn't help that giving such a large section of the seating

to away fans we lose the home advantage with the refs.

You can't book someone if you see them throw a punch and kick someone. It's an automatic red card. That's what I meant by not an option.

We haven't had any home advantage all season, regardless of the size of the crowd in the away stand.

And the fourth official it happened virtually in front of the dugouts.

Would have!! You even use it yourself in the second sentence, before reverting to nonsense.

I was joking...
primary responsibility for controlling the match remains with the referee who makes the final decision at all
times. In discharging this responsibility it is expected that referees will only seek assistance from the Fourth
Official in respect of significant match changing incidents which have been missed by the other three match
officials and which are clearly visible to the Fourth Official. That's the efl guide line.

His job is to hold up a board... nothing more...
The Fourth Official assists the Referee and Assistant Referees at all times. This will involve being pro-active in any dealings with players, substitutes and club officials, especially during the match

We just need to focus on the only incompetent thing that matters and that’s the team. We can blame the officials all we want but Coventry’s quality shone through. If our players can’t handle a bad decision then it shows it weak mentality but we know that already.

If Alex Ferguson was the manager of that team he would be embarrassed and thrown a few hair dryers in the process.

If Alex Ferguson were Manager the referee would have definitely given the decisions. So no need fir any hair drying as we’d have won the game.

Retaliation is no defence

May as well have a scarecrow.... 😌

Why don't you make yourself useful for once and apply? You appear to have the qualifications for it.
Odd reply.

After I joked they stand there with a board, you seem intent on defending them. After everyone has said they collectively missed some key decisions sat and did nothing.

Very strange.

I'm not defending them. I'm simply stating what their duties are as you seemed a little misinformed. I didn't realise, along with others, that you were attempting comedy.

I know they are meant to do more, however from a fans pov when decisions are constantly wrong it makes you question.

Yes it was a humorous comment. That clearly wasn't taken as such.
