George Galloway wins Rochdale for the Workers Party by 6,000 votes, conservatives a distant third, Labour collapsed. Of course this is the result of the Gaza situation, George Galloway ffs
It’s an interesting result…and gives more of an insight about the electorate than the candidates…I was in the same restaurant he was celebrating his win against The Telegraph back in the day.
He's consistent if nothing else. Friend of Iran and dislike of America. He's certainly got an alternative view of who are allies are.
My only concern is that I'd hate the UK parliament being decided on foreign issues; especially Palestine as it's an intractable stale mate with two sides with legitimate claims, as though it has any influence on what happens abroad; it barely has an influence in the other nations of our Islands.
Stick to trying to govern our country.
I do wonder whether he could be defined as a populist in the same way Farage is.It’s an interesting result…and gives more of an insight about the electorate than the candidates…
That's a fair shout.I do wonder whether he could be defined as a populist in the same way Farage is.
He does play to his followers prejudice.
Edited to add: he does it brilliantly.
Yes. He's the other side of the coin to Farage.I do wonder whether he could be defined as a populist in the same way Farage is.

Galloway was endorsed by Nick Griffin - says it all.Yes. He's the other side of the coin to Farage.
He also said that he is going to fight to save Rochdale AFC. As if he has any influence but no doubt will claim the credit when they do recieve extra investment. He's played his hand in Rochdale brilliantly, to the large Asian / Muslim population.
If I lived in the Rochdale Borough I would be cheesed off that my MP seems solely pre-occupied with what is happening in Gaza!
Worrying times ahead.
One difference being that Farage has never been elected as a MP.Yes. He's the other side of the coin to Farage.
and as far as I know never pretended to be a cat.One difference being that Farage has never been elected as a MP.
Farage appeals to the wider British public, which may be why he's never been elected, Galloway appeals to narrow sectarian interests, which is why he has been elected.I do wonder whether he could be defined as a populist in the same way Farage is.
He does play to his followers prejudice.
In this instance. There was a whole set of circumstances in the bye election that won't be repeated. I predict he loses the seat to Labour in the upcoming election, who didn't field a candidate this time round.Farage appeals to the wider British public, which may be why he's never been elected, Galloway appeals to narrow sectarian interests, which is why he has been elected.
I'll raise you.Tickled me that Galloway has this morning been lectured by the irony-free zone that is Andrea Ledsom, who warned him "to be very careful and avoid stirring up division in Parliament and across the country".
She fell short of adding `that`s Suella and Lee Anderson`s job`.
As if the satirists haven`t suffered enough...
That is the first thing that springs to mind when I hear is name.and as far as I know never pretended to be a cat.
Where do you feel this leads? For me human nature hasn’t evolved and many seem oblivious to history so sadly stupidity on a world scale will repeat itself.George Galloway wins Rochdale for the Workers Party by 6,000 votes, conservatives a distant third, Labour collapsed. Agree, unfortunately there will always be human beings who do things for their own ends, not for the benefit of the rest of us.Where do you feel this leads? For me human nature hasn’t evolved and many seem oblivious to history so sadly stupidity on a world scale will repeat itself.
Yes he has charisma and plays to his audience very well
The same man is a Putin apologist ,denies Tinaman Square happened and epitomises sectarian gutter politics
Make no mistakes he's a wrong un
