Inside Critchley's mind

Don't think anyone picked up on his interview pre-Wigan when he was asked about points etc and he said (quite rightly) that we just need to win games. However, he then went on to say as we get closer to the end if we need certain results he will then play and choose his team accordingly.
For me, this says everything about Critchley as a manager. I genuinely don't believe he goes out to play football. He over-analyses the opposition, he stares at computer screens, I bet his favourite moment on the week is when he gets the Opta stats!
Somewhere between leaving us and going to Villa/PR he seems to have lost the reason we all go and watch the great game. I genuinely was more excited watching Liverpool/Man U yesterday than I have been at any of our games this season and I hate them both!

Apart from the Man City game, the other matches reminded me why I love football. Attacking football and players having a go.
Sadly it just reminds me of how negative our football is. For all his foibles Ollie spoilt us.

mmmm...well if he said that and i believe you, then all those defending Critchleys tactics on saturday and trying to blame the players need to remove their blinkers when it comes to defending the manager. Let's face it, these type of performances have been happening on a regular basis ALL season.

Exactly. So why do some think these performances are suddenly going to change next season, let alone next game?

In the run up to Critchley becoming manager/head coach 1st time I was shouting from the hill tops to go get Mark Robins and was told by a few on here he wasn't all that!!

Fast forward nearly 4 years and you've got one manager who narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier league, has a team challenging again this season, has his team in the FA cup semi finals and plays with fast attacking players with good ball control and are exciting to watch.

Compare that with the tap, tap, tap, hoof, chance, miss, repeat borefest we've been served up in the vast majority of away games this season.
A Manager who constricts his players ability by playing them out of position and a reluctance to change shape , tactics and players when it's obviously not happening 🙄
Still, he's got loads of badges😔

The difference is one is a manager and the other a coach.

I have an image of that Numbskulls cartoon. Lots of different compartments…gillet choosing/bigging up the opposition…we were the better side mouth gear spouting….chirpy and bobby movements and looks to the side during media appearances, slow motion gear winding, during match days and over thinking before getting it wrong again.IMG_0428.jpeg

Still available to watch on Blackpool's X account.

This is, why some of the criticism levelled at players is wrong. (Apart from Norburn)
We are playing systems that players, do not buy into or is outside their ability.
Lavery is often out on wing, he came to us as a pretty good goal poacher.
I also cannot understand the dropping of every player bar CJ

Inside the head of Mr C is a Newton's cradle. For evey action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The ball swings sideways...then it returns....etc.

The difference is one has millions to spend and the other not much!
I don't think it is a simple as that. A good manager will breed confidence and belief. A good coach is fine if you have the players of the right technical ability. Ian Evatt changed under Ollie, while NC still seems to think he can make Marvin into a ball player. Marvin is still a great defender, but his passing is worse than it was before.

When i hear NC discuss the opposition, I would not be inspired if I was in the dressing room.

A bit harsh on our dull coach but it has to be said, the Numskulls were ace 😁👍
