International breaks

We have the Fury / Wilder fight
Well ...couldn’t care less to be honest...if I watch boxing it’s the guys at the lower weights because I don’t like watching the equivalent of two tubs of lard just pushing each other around the ring

Always look forward to the England games.
Beat Hungary next Tuesday and we are 99.9% certain of qualification.
Andorra and San Marino are practically byes.

Fr Bayern has agreed we’re having a day of watching the WC footy on The Strip in Albufeira this Saturday. Can’t not have a Saturday footy fix and the Forest game can’t come soon enough!

I hate them. The football is a brief respite from the challenging thoughts inside my brain, it soothes away all outside context, it's like LSD but in the form of football, but my interest in football at large is dictated by Blackpool. If we win i'll look up every other championship game, watch the highlights of them all, read pneonline, read every championship messageboard, look at the table about 30 times. Without Blackpool playing I am unable to access the joy of football.

I think that this International break has come at a very good time for Pool. We may have had three missing this Saturday for starters, and Forest are fired up by their New Manager Syndrome. Let their enthusiasm wane during the gap until Pool arrive. I would suggest that were the game to be played this coming weekend, Pool might have had their hands full with Forest’s new found fire. Just let it cool a little before before we arrive. It may help !

Are many key Forest players on international duties.

said it before, football is football and I really don't get those who aren't interested in watching their national team. Especially when we're doing pretty well at the moment. Makes me think some are just Blackpool fans and have no interest in the wider aspects of the game. Very limited outlook on the game.

Im a domestic football fan, although i do enjoy watching world cup/euro tournaments. Stopping the domestic league games for international qualifiers does my head in.

The only saving grace for me is that its come at a good time for us re our injuries.

so what do you suggest then, there's always been International breaks? Of course you could prefer us to be in L1/L2 where int. breaks wouldn't necessarily affect us. In this case though as you say with our injuries the break has come at a good time.

Not fond of them as a rule, but this one has come at a good time.

I suppose all the hype about England playing a wide point in the road is the price we have to pay.

As I said originally, it is an opinion, one I am entitled to. Because I don't have the same enthusiasm for international matches means I have a limited outlook, your opinion I guess but simply wrong.

Im not suggesting anything, it is what it is, and no i wouldnt prefer to go back to the lower leagues.

Amazing though, that people don't have the enthusiasm for International matches but it doesn't stop them airing their negative views about them and all the players who represent their country. And yep, it's my opinion that anyone whose interest in football revolves solely around BFC has a limited outlook on the game. It's my view that football is a great game in all it's different guises.

'Just Blackpool fans', as a derogatory comment. Breathtaking.

What I don't understand is those who follow numerous teams. It's almost as if they're not really interested in Blackpool but have been suckered in by 'Best League in the world' bollox.

Seriously, what's the problem with being just a Blsckpool fan?

And as for wider outlook, I think you'll find it's just Blackpool fans leading the fight for changes to football governance.

You're taking that comment out of context and you know damn well you are. My comment is about people only having an interest in football because of one team and that could be any team. Football is a great game and I know full well that you were brought up playing the game too. My point is that football interest that starts and ends with just one team, which in this case is BFC is a limited outlook. Lets face it, it doesn't stop you making snidey comments on others does it? As you've always done.

Just Blackpool fans is as snidey as you can get.

Not out of context at all.

Of course it was because I would say the same about the fans of any team with the same opinion. You conveniently quoted only part of my statement. Your hypocrisy knows no limits. You love to put down great sportsmen of this country, you frequently criticise the EPL,it's riches and it's players despite wanting us to get back there. You like to criticise the national team and I'm certain at one point when we weren't playing too well you openly admitted your lack of interest. Like I said you're very one dimensional if your interest in football is restricted to just one team and everything and everyone else doesn't interest you. Although, like I said it doesn't stop you deriding it and them at every opportunity.

I watch loads of football and love it but qualifiers for international tournaments, especially when it is a big hitter playing a country with a population the size of Blackpool, is dull on so many levels.

At work we have fans of teams from all over the country, one thing we all agree on, international breaks are completely over the top and boring, none of us care as much as we care about our club sides.

It's the country of my birth playing the game I love. Why would I find that dull? It gives the manager a chance to give young and up and coming players a chance. Think that's great myself. I'd much rather watch the country of my birth play football than get obsessed over another country simply because we have a player who might play for them. Or an ex loanee who plays for them. I'm not from Northern Ireland, so why should I prefer to watch them as some admit to on here. And people on here claim to be patriotic.
Anyway, it's old ground, we've been here before.

That massively contradicts your statement criticising fans for being "just" Blackpool fans.

International football interest that starts and ends with just one team, in this case England, is a limited outlook.

You're very one dimensional if your interest in international football is restricted to just one team and everything and everyone else doesn't interest you.

If you love "the game" that much then why are you restricting yourself to England. Why not France? Spain, Germany?

Yep, each to their own, I suppose England means different things to different people, be a very dull place to live if we all thought the same way, most people can probably agree on that.

Like a broken record. Yes you like England games. Whoopy doo. Some people can take or leave them. Does it make them less knowledgeable about football? Does it fig? Stop barking at people just because they have a different view to the world.

Not everyone is a chest thumping God Save the Queen Tory like you are. LOL

We are all different. Personally I love to watch the team that represents the country of my birth (that`s one of my forms of patriotism I suppose) and also the team that represents the town of my birth even though I have not lived there since the age of 17 but as my dear late brother ,a `Pool supporter all his life once said to me "you can change your job ,you can change your wife, but you can`t change your football team," though unlike me he never changed any of them!

Read the rest of the line rather than the just Blackpool fans bit,eh!
And misinterpret away all you want. If Blackpool are playing a match I'll watch that over any other game. Same with England. What's so difficult to understand about that? So why should I choose to watch another country over my own just because there's some-one playing who plays for us. Would you choose to watch Shayne Lavery playing for a country you've no association with over the country where you were actually born? And as I said I have an interest in all football and all teams, so I'll catch up on scores and report, But what I don't think is that watching my home country play is "dull". Some on here remind me of the fair weather supporters who give up on their team when results or level they are playing at isn't good enough to grab their attention.

Where are your roots? Scotland, the Republic? Enough said. And yep, some-one like you is less knowledgeable than me. But that was always a given.

If Northern Ireland are playing Italy and Lavery is playing I would watch that over England playing Andorra.
Doesn't mean I don't want England to do well but watching our player against some of the world's best would be interesting to me, watching England complete a routine victory against a team that Blackpool would beat 95 times out of a 100 wouldn't.

I care more about watching my country play than you do then. Which has been my point all along..

You most certainly do, for me it's more about the football for some I guess nationalism is the bigger factor.

I don't say it's a bigger factor. I say it's about ALL football and our national team is a big part of that. When Dougall leaves Blackpool I daresay you'll no longer be interested in watching Australia. You see that's my link to fickleness of fair weather fans. It's as and when and who. England is England irrespective of who plays for them.

Wouldn't call it fairweather or fickle myself, I just find it interesting when our players come up against the best, obviously the ultimate would be if one of ours played for England, we might have to wait a while for that!
Like yours my own support of England is very consistent and not decided by how well we are doing, I always have little interest when we play minnows and fully support them when it's competitive.

Was more annoying last season when we used to lose players on international call up - at least now it's actually a bit of a help (as reflected in the Fulham game!).

I love watching football, my heart and soul is Blackpool. But will follow the country of my birth, I would watch from international matches to under 7s(or younger) matches, football is a game to be enjoyed and cherished, from the £100k a week superstars to little ones playing for fun in the park.

More excited about the atmosphere of our own club games, but enjoy all football.
