Is 16th an achievement??

About two months ago, I put a tenner on us at 7/2 to finish in the top half. That would be an achievement.

A quote from Critch's presser.
"When you get to Wembley & win the play-off final...that feels like an achievement. When you're 16th in the division...it doesn't feel like you've achieved much. But I don't think we can sniff at what we've done this season"
We currently have 57 points and are 12 points behind Sheff Utd in 6th and 23 points ahead of Peterborough in 22nd.
So head ruling heart that's not a bad effort for our first season back in the Championship.
So it's a ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ from me to the Board, the coaching staff and all the players at Blackpool FC (and all those behind the scenes as well ๐Ÿ‘ ).
Looking forward to making that total 66 points and to getting a few more than that next season.
Onwards and upwards ๐ŸŠ๐ŸŠ๐ŸŠ
Staying in the championship is an achievement๐Ÿ‘

If we had converted a few more wins from the draws we've made we'd be in contention. Shows the great progress we've .made. In Critch we trust.

Last 3 games of the season against the bottom 3 teams.
OK I know we don't typically do well against the bottom teams but on paper that should be 9 ponts
So if we had already played and won those games and our last 3 games were Huddersfield, Coventry & WBA, we would be on 67 points in 7th play with a definite dose of play off fever.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda. ๐Ÿ˜‰
I wonder if @Philbfctrois trois woulda been a bit happier?

People can say Critch could've been less negative with his selections, but it's that defensive organisation, and making us hard to beat, that has been the cornerstone of our successful avoidance of relegation (and our promotion last season). There really is no way of knowing how we would've fared taking the game to the opposition more and sacrificing a defensive player or two. We could have done much worse.

I think this has been a very successful season. We've done as well as we could possibly expect with the players that have been available for selection. We've played most of the season without an attacking, goal scoring centre mid. We could, maybe should, have got one in, but that really isn't Critchley's fault. Nor is it the fault of the team. And this season was always about staying up. Once you consolidate, better players become attainable in the transfer market as they no longer see you as relegation fodder.

I really think the players have done us proud this season. There's been no shirkers, the attitude has been absolutely first class from every single one - especially with how we've handled set backs, and there have been some devastating ones like Boro and Bournemouth at home, and QPR away. We have several first team players who have been asked to step up two leagues in two seasons, and they've handled themselves superbly. The only blot on the season is the Deepdale game where I think Critchley got it wrong, the players had a mare and it's such a shame because as we saw tonight, it was a real missed opportunity.

I've never, in thirty years, been more excited and optimistic about the next few years as a Blackpool fan. The last two years has been about laying solid foundations, but I actually don't think we've really started yet.

Great achievement, I had serious doubts going in and even though I backed us it was mainly due to the feel good factor and home crowd I knew we'd have. Then that first half v Bristol City I thought we were in for a tough season, they looked much sharper and quicker and we looked league one. First few games I felt that, then we found the pace and figured it out, adjusted, Madine coming back in was huge, as it was last season.

People moan about Dale and others but in terms of recruitment Bowler and Lavery alone, plus Sonny Carey looked like he might be the best of the bunch in flashes show they know what they're doing. You can't expect a 100% success rate. The board, manager and players all represented our club proudly this year and I'm ecstatic (bear in mind my season ticket years were 89-2004) so maybe my standards are lower but 9/10 for me.

I agree. After all the lean times these are mean times. After the 78 relegation it took til 2007 to bounce back. From a very weak base it took 2 years to bounce back under Sadler.

Our season probably started to turn, for me, when we out played Bournemouth away in the second half of the 4th game (though we looked semi decent at home to Coventry in game 3). At Bournemouth we had Yates and TJJ up front! Though Lavery replaced TJJ on 65. Maybe we should try Yates and Lavery again!

Scott Parker felt the game changed just 20 minutes in ...

Bournemouth manager Scott Parker told BBC Radio Solent:

"I think that was a fair result overall. Initially at the start of the game at 2-0 we were brilliant in our pace, endeavour and intensity.

"At 20 minutes, I felt there was a bit of a change in the game and we needed to get to half-time which we did.

"Second half, we weren't good enough in what we produced and the intensity we played at, the way we managed the game.

"Credit to Blackpool, they put us under immense pressure and deserved to get back into the game."
