Is scandalous the new normal?

From the Greensill scandal, where David Cameron approached a number of government ministers on behalf of Greensill Capital to lobby for the company to receive Covid corporate Financing facility loans. Through Owen Paterson resigning from the House amid controversy surrounding a report by the Standards Commissioner that found that he had broken paid advocacy rules. Through Partygate; Matt Hancock's snogging in a broom cupboard with a SPAD; paedophile MP Imran Ahmad Khan, and right up to Neil Parrish watching porn in the House of Commons. How low do the Tories need to go before public outrage kicks in? How low does Tory sleaze need to get before some posters on here will say, enough is enough?

Starmer and Rayner party in Durham. Those in glass houses etc..

In all seriousness, the current Labour leadership represents the most useless, dishonest, uninspiring, unprincipled, moral vacuums in the history of the Labour Party. At least Tony Blair believed in something, these jokers believe in nothing.
Dishonest,? Where do you get that from? Oh, go away. You have an issue and you're not open to debate.

Why not address the points raised in the o/p?

Well I never, another Tory bashing thread 😂
NO! It's looking at the behaviour of their MPs and saying it's wrong. Ted Heath, I hated him with a passion. He was under suspicion of child abuse but it turned out to be wrong. I was pleased. I hate people being wrongly accused but these examples in my OP are proven. It's horrible. If we're going to have a Tory Party existing as a mainstream party in this country; a party in which ordinary people can believe, then it's got to be better than this trash!

Yes, that’s true. But there seems an obsession on here with the current incumbent. Yet the current Left get a pass far too often, they are shocking also.

The current incompetent and his party have been in charge for 12 years, if something is wrong in the country they are probably the main reason for it, therefore they get called out for it.
Sad thing is we can criticise them all we like but the opposition is piss poor aswell!
Main reason I was against Brexit was the lack of quality in British politics, we have given free reign to 2nd rate, self serving fools who aren't representative of most ordinary British people.
Massive shake up and something new needed but I can't see it happening unfortunately.

I would imagine these things are always happening, all you need to do to keep it quiet is not fire the one person who knows where the bodies are buried because he doesn't like your wife. Blair never pissed Campbell off for example.

It wasn't a party like the Downing St ones.
It was just Starmer having a beer.
Is it a party every time one just has a beer?
30 people at that gathering Dave not just Starmer having a beer is it.
Lied about Rayner being there and lied that Hotel room service wasn't available when it was.
Bunch of hypocrites the lot of them.

Add on 56 yes 56 being investigated for sexual behaviour they all can't be Tory!

Well it is when you order curry and lie about it. If Boris was guilty of anything, which I doubt, Starmer and his fish wife deputy, are definitely guilty of attending an illegal gathering.

Durham.

The guidance was strict, stating: 'You should not meet with other campaigners indoors”

And separate guidance stated: 'There should not be any sharing of food & drink by staff who do not share a household.'

Based on that, he’s guilty and should have been prosecuted.

What investigation my the police? Quiet clearly beergate has not been investigated.

Also, the claim by Starmer was that it was work, but it's quite clear he was there for campaigning purposes, which were treated differently under the legislation, so it's quite possible that the whole gathering was illegal regardless of the break for beer and curry (and whatever else went on).

So the question is, has Starmer misled the police, or to put it another way, is the LOTO guilty of perverting the course of justice?

Some posters will go to any lengths to divert attention from the real culprit. It's not worth the effort chaps, the whole country knows he's guilty and that he lied to our representatives in order to cover it up.

Of course it's not the new normal.

It's just normal.

There have been scandalous behaviour from politicians forever.

I think what's slightly different is there are more platforms to read/listen/watch about it.

There is also (for now) an atmosphere of such ingrained tribalism, there's very little room for a middle ground and everything is blown out of all proportion.

Take this party stuff.

Yes, load of civil servants, SPADS and politicians had some fun when the rest of the country was told not to; it's not clever, but unless someone is hiding something, there was literally no harm done to anyone.

Labour party people, have walked a fine line (not sure whether drinking beer is usual practice at work?) and forgot their Deputy Leader was there; but again, no harm done.

Nicola Sturgeon has gone mask less more than once; again, do as I say, not as I do. Not a good look but no harm done.

Compare that with a government who willfully told us a false narrative and took us to war, leading to thousands of deaths and undermining our status on the world stage.

Or one which allowed HiV infected blood to be transfused. Or shagged a minister whilst preaching family values and blaming unmarried mother's for the cause of all of society's problems. Or knighted bankers who collapsed the economy, or created PFI, or hated private schools whilst sending their own children to them....

Too many people lack an historical perspective or sense of proportion to look at this is the round and pick and choose which bit of hypocrisy suits their agenda.

Politicians of all persuasions are human, they make mistakes, they chance their arm, they abuse their power, they try not to get caught- and it's been this way forever.

I hope that if he is found to have broken the law that he resigns as leader of the Labour party asap. Get Burnham into Wakefield as an MP and installed as leader.
Good shout. I might even consider voting for them again. At least AB challenged the govt on some of their nonsense. Think both parties need a clean break with their pandemic politicians tbh.

I don't see what else he could do apart from resign if he has broken the law - he would look almost as bad as Johnson.

Is Starmer the new Neil Kinnock? Rids the party of the extremists and then makes way for someone who can win?

Just read a post of yours where you call the deputy leader of the Labour Party a fish wife.
I know nothing of her abilities but you are obviously criticising a working class northern woman for the way she speaks, I'd call that insulting snobbery.
Fish wife means "vulgar and abusive woman". I think that description of Ms Rayner is correct. It has nothing to do with being northern, or working class.

In what way? As far as I can tell, the abuse is all towards her, mainly vulgar too.

See any edition of the Daily Mail over the last couple of weeks.

Keith gets a pass along with Boris for me, utter load of bollox the lot of it. Time to move on and stop dragging up shite that means fuck all in the big picture.

Agree it's a load of bollox, but Starmer's spent the last 4 months trying to make a story out of it, so he ought to be held to the same standard.

No, I’m sick of it all. Move on ffs and let’s see what the 2 main parties are made of outside of this pathetic mud slinging. It’s gutter politics at its worst. Obviously fed by the filth media. The country has had enough of it, even if the Left are getting off on it.

No thanks, it's just getting interesting.

While Boris gets a pass for numerous breaches along with other lies casually brushed off, while presiding over a catastrophe?
