Is scandalous the new normal?

From the Greensill scandal, where David Cameron approached a number of government ministers on behalf of Greensill Capital to lobby for the company to receive Covid corporate Financing facility loans. Through Owen Paterson resigning from the House amid controversy surrounding a report by the Standards Commissioner that found that he had broken paid advocacy rules. Through Partygate; Matt Hancock's snogging in a broom cupboard with a SPAD; paedophile MP Imran Ahmad Khan, and right up to Neil Parrish watching porn in the House of Commons. How low do the Tories need to go before public outrage kicks in? How low does Tory sleaze need to get before some posters on here will say, enough is enough?
Scandal is not the new normal, but scandal is no longer seen as an impediment to political advancement, it may actually be a core component of political advancement, because of the way it attracts media reporting, and as the old saying goes "there is no such thing as bad publiciity". So in that measure scandal might now be normlised.

This thread is an absolute mirror of general political debate. A reasonable question asked, a handful of considered responses, and a host of whataboutist commentary, insults (personal and politial), and almost religious fervour for one side or the other. The ability to have a reasonable conversation with the various Right, left, environmental, identity et al factions is pretty much impossible because they hold their positions based on dogmatic belief which is being constantly reinforced by the dogmatists various echo chambers. In that way scandal or outrage is the only thing that really gets enough volume to have media coverage.

I think I'm at the point where I appreciate the considered posts and respond to them - if required. The boorish, scoffing and whataboutery, I'm trying to ignore.

Because people still defend Boris when he has broken the rules and Bern found guilty?
Got to admit I’m still trying to make sense of your post and that of 1966’s
Never mind. back to watching the boring nothing at stake end of season football

Not looking good for Sir Keir: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politic...rgate-event-planned-leaked-memo-appears-show/

Sir Keir Starmer is facing fresh “beergate” questions on Saturday night after a memo emerged undermining his central claim that his curry dinner with staff was a spur-of-the-moment event.

A leaked internal planning document for the Labour leader’s ill-fated visit to Durham revealed the beer and takeaway at the centre of a new police investigation was planned in advance.

Why don’t we all just except that they are all cheats and liars and move on. This way I won’t have to put up with the incessant hypocrisy from the Left.
